Whispering Oaks Cottage on Cable Lake is a spacious 4 Bed/3 Bath home on 90-acre Cable Lake, a peaceful no-motor lake located in Sister Lakes, Michigan. We offer 2 level living with a private sandy beach lakefront! All you need to do is come and relax!

Enjoy this cottage with 2 level living, central air and heating, and stunning lake views! Only 2 hours from Chicago, 40 minutes from South Bend and 25 minutes from St. Joe’s. This home sleeps up to 12, ideally up to 6 adults and 6 children.

Not just a summer rental - Come unwind and getaway to join us for Winter! Ice Fishing, Snowmobiling, Skiing, Sledding, and Firepits! Words cannot describe how beautiful it is!

Starting in June through August rentals are weekly Sunday - Sunday only. Off peak dates are 3-night minimums. Check-in after 4:00pm on Sunday and checkout out prior to 10:00am on Sunday. Off season is a minimum of 3 nights. Message me for flexibility with check-in/check-out times for off peak rentals!

The lower-level walk-out allows full access to the lake (steps down) where you can head out to the swim platform, immerse yourself in excellent fishing off the pier or explore the lake on the included 3 kayaks, paddle boat, and rowboat. Or, just sit at the picnic table or Adirondack chairs by the firepit and relax. This quiet, clean, no motor lake is perfect for stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, pedal boating, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, and swimming. Enjoy any of the other 6 lakes all within minutes - boat rentals are available through local vendors.

In addition to the lake activities and relaxing there are many other things to do like golfing, visiting the drive-in movie theater, apple picking, local farm stands, snow skiing, ice fishing, snow mobile trails, Casinos, and the Southwest Michigan wine trail. Sister Lakes area has the famous Driftwood Ice Cream Parlor, Sister Lakes Brewery, The Strand Restaurant, and 5 Mile Drive-In Movie Theatre.

Additional amenities include: Central A/C and Heating, Life Vests for Adults and Children, 3 Kayaks, Row Boat, Pedal Boat, Swim Platform, Pier, Water Bottle Dispenser (bring your own bottles), Lakeside Picnic Table, 2 Firepits (bring your own firewood), High Speed Wireless Internet Access, Bath Towels, Bed Linens, Pillows, Card Table and 4 chairs, Coffeemaker, Dishwasher and Detergent, Washer and Dryer, Toaster, Board games and books, Weber Charcoal Grill (bring your own charcoal), Pots/Pans, Plenty of Dishes/Silverware and Kitchen Utensils. Whole home generator.

**Some amenities including watercraft, swim pad, and pier are taken out and stored for the winter months. They will be removed around beginning of October and put back as soon as the weather allows (May timeframe). **

Quiet retreat
Comfortable and relaxing place to regroup during a large family gathering at a neighboring lake. The upper deck and the easy water access were our most frequently used aspects. We all slept soundly in the beds, too. Communication with Alison and the organized info binder were great.

Great house in Sister Lake area
This is a wonderful house and property on Cable Lake. Our extended family of 11 has stayed here three times and every year we enjoy it more! Wonderful location, and the beach along with the ability to use three kayaks and a paddle boat is such a value-add. I would recommend anyone staying at this wonderful house!

Great place for a family
Had a great time, Very quiet area, hardly saw anyone on the lake. Its still early in the season. We had trouble with the air conditioning but Alison took care of it. The house was very well stocked with cooking utensils and pots and pans.

Family Vacation
We have stayed in many rentals over the years and by far this property was one of the best supplied with amenties both inside and outside. Both the lake and the neighborhood were extremely quite all week. There were a few minor maintenance items that need to be fixed, kitchen faucet handle, dinning room light, storm door, and some loose door handles but that didn't keep us from having a wonderful week.

Beautiful Property and Amazing Experience
Our stay was absolutely perfect. The location, views and relaxed environment couldn’t have been better. We were also extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the large property. Nothing was neglected or gave the impression of just surface level clean. The hosts have thought of everything that might be needed for comfort, even down to an air fryer oven, baby utensils, a safety gate, games, books, extensive water activity coverage.. I could literally go on. Thank you so much to the hosts for helping create such a perfect experience for me and my family. This was a very special trip to us. I admittedly have high expectations and this stay exceeded them.

Family Vacation a Huge Success!
Grandparents, adult kids, and their young children (7, 4, 1) all had great fun staying and playing at this extra nice home on Cable Lake. We especially enjoyed using the peddle boat and green kayaks on the no wake lake! It was very safe for our children, and the shallow water at the beach was perfect for water play and swimming for our 7 year old! The two tier beach is exceptional and lends itself to fun sand play...a new sand creation imagined every day! We noticed that most of the lake did not have a shallow access for play in the water, so we were very thankful we chose this property! The owner is careful about keeping the property in good repair, and the kitchen is unusually well equipped. We had terrific times gathered about the beautiful dining table for family meals. The neighborhood is also nice for taking family walks, and we enjoyed visiting the Driftwood Ice Cream shop one evening! We were surprised by the visit of a very large turtle one morning (apparently it had crawled up on the top level of the sand beach, rolled down the embankment, and got stuck on its back near the water's edge). A rescue to flip the turtle safely over onto its tummy was successful, and it swam away in the flash, much to our delight! We also saw numerous turtle heads poking out of the water at various times, and we enjoyed the water lilies that were blooming! It is a peaceful place to stay (even during the week of July 4th!). The beds are comfortable, and the bedding is unusually soft, while the bedrooms are nicely decorated. We also enjoyed the artwork on many of the walls. The photos reflected what we found upon arrival. In addition, the owner has installed a generator so that there is power if the electricity goes out. We've had personal experience with this happening during a previous vacation (4 days without power), so it was nice to know there is a back up plan for electricity in the event of a storm. If you have a 1 year old, you might consider moving the tan, rectangular plush stool from the lower level up to the family room (use it to block the stairway, as baby gates do not work with the railing). This worked really well for us, and kept everybody safe. There is much more that I could say about this property! We enjoyed games around the coffee table, and read wonderful stories to the kids both upstairs and downstairs, as the furniture is very comfortable for doing that kind of thing! Since we love to read, this was really nice! Thanks

relaxing lake vacation
We really enjoyed our week at Alison's lake house. The property was clean and very comfortable. We spent a lot of time by the water fishing (bluegill and bass), kayaking, swimming and enjoying the swim raft. There were plenty of chairs down by the water and above by the house to enjoy the view of the peaceful lake! The kitchen was well stocked and easy to work in. The air worked great on some very hot summer days! When not outside we were playing games at the large table inside or watching the Olympics. Internet service worked well for some remote work that needed to be done. Beds were comfortable. Neighborhood is quiet and pleasant to walk through. Short drive to ice cream on one of the other sister lakes. Any questions were promptly responded to and we were very happy with our stay! Thank you Alison for sharing your home!

2nd stay
Our second stay was as good as the first! We did it all: kayaked around the lake, used the pedal boat, fished from the row boat, swam to the platform, roasted marshmallows by the campfire, ate ice cream at Driftwood….. all in a long weekend. The sand hill cranes were an extra bonus this time! I loved hearing them every evening. The house is clean and updated. We found many things to do inside too. We played pool and few board games, and we even finished a 1000 piece puzzle. Thank you, Alison.

Lovely stay on Cable Lake
Our 3 generation family (2-70+, 4-40+, 3-teens) thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay at Whispering Oaks Cottage. It met our needs in every way and the host was extremely responsive to any of our questions and went above and beyond with accommodating us. The property was as described, well-stocked, and very spacious for our needs. The kids really enjoyed the pool table and we all enjoyed the water toys/raft. The beach and lake were perfect as always - we love Cable Lake because it is so peaceful. We only went off site to get ice cream at the Driftwood because the lake and the house were really all we needed. Thank you for a great stay!
