We had such a great time here! Spent our week swimming off the dock, kayaking, tubing and exploring. The cottage was very well stocked with everything we needed and we really enjoyed hanging out on the deck and grilling. The owners were readily available anytime we needed to contact them. Would definitely recommend!
This cabin was the perfect place to stay for my bachelorette float trip. It was immaculately clean, modern, and was by far the best stocked rental we have ever stayed in. The owners were responsive and very helpful when we had questions. The patio was incredible at all times of the day, but we really enjoyed early morning coffee while gazing at the river. We were unable to swim off the dock because the low water level made it impossible to get back out. However, we got our river fix with a full day of tubing, which was conveniently located 10 minutes down the road. The gravel road to the cabin was a bit of a beast, but manageable even after a heavy rain. We didn’t spend much time in town, but there seemed to be plenty of places to eat and grocery shop. We cannot wait to book again!
I loved the place, it was a beautiful, peaceful view, the cottage was very clean and very well supplied. Beds were very comfortable. The only thing is they did not have propane for the grill when we wanted to make steaks, and we didn’t want to go back into town to get propane, so we use the oven. The manager did say in her property details that if we bought the propane, she wouldn’t reimburse us with the cost, which was very nice. Once we got here, we just kind of wanted to stay the cushions outside on the swing probably could’ve been cleaned or dispersed off, but we did use the outdoor deck meaning a day and mini night, and we loved to make a nice bonfire. Directions were very good except for that one point we thought that when it said County Road, and then we thought we couldn’t go down there because it private homes. I was going to walk down there to see, and a neighbor woman was driving up, and I asked her about the cottage and she said knew right where it is, and she offered to have us follow her down to the cottage. Maybe there needs to be a sign that says the location of cottage, and to keep going. Other than that, I definitely would like to go again, it was very peaceful. I do wish that we didn’t have to hear the noise from the road, but that wasn’t even a really big issue next time I’ll go in the summer I love the place.
The Current River Cottage was a great weekend getaway for myself and five of my children, ages 4 to 13 years. We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and it’s amenities. The River was a tad high during our stay but we attempted fishing one night, and the younger girls enjoyed playing in the sand. We loved the Roku and played some board games already stocked at the cottage. We traveled into town every night and ate at the Lemonade House Grille. Great atmosphere for kids and extremely friendly staff. We walked the streets of Doniphan one day and visited the Museum. It was so neat to see the artifacts from that area.
The cottage is a two bedroom, one bath house on stilts right on the River. It was well stocked. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the pull out couch was perfect for kids. There is a full size fridge and mini fridge, plus a washer and dryer. These are located in the kitchen and are loud while running so make sure to start your load when you don’t plan to be in house. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes, although we did go through them rather quickly and could have used more utensils. Cleaning supplies were also well stocked and made it easy to clean up after meals and snacks. The view from the master bedroom was so serene! I spent an entire afternoon lounging on the bed and looking out the large window/doors overlooking the porch and river. Drive is steep in areas but manageable. Overall amazing trip!!!
Exactly what we needed for our friends trip to the river.
We had everything we needed for our stay as the house was very well stocked. Beautiful view off the deck to the river. Beds were comfortable. The deck could have used a good cleaning/spray for bugs, but it was still nice to sit out on in the evening.
We had such a lovely visit and stay over Thanksgiving. The space was perfect for three adults and two kids. The kitchen was well-equipped, the place was cozy and very clean. The river view and deck space is very nice. We used the outdoor fire pit as well and it was so nice to sit by the river.
It was a quiet neighborhood this time of year and we enjoyed walking and fishing as well.
My family and I stayed 3 nights in this cozy river house. The kitchen was well appointed, plenty of cooking utensils and things, beds were very comfortable though the master suite is missing a curtain on River-facing side of room, and the bathroom was a comfortable size and clean. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and playing board games as well as using the flattop grill! My only note, and I hope this serves others, is that there are no real markers to find the house. I’d say it’s 2 to the right of the A frame house and also know the touch pad keyless entry is dark and hard to see the numbers, so flash your phone light on it when using. Beyond that, we very much enjoyed our stay!
We stayed over the weekend Sept 30-Oct 2nd. Monique made suggestions on where to eat and things going in in town. Happy we followed her advise ! We went in town (less than a 10 min drive) on Saturday and enjoyed the boutiques and flea markets going on. It was the perfect getaway!
Nice cabin with great deck overlooking the river. Comfortable beds. We did not give 5 stars for the following reasons: We had great difficulty locating the road and the cabin. No sign or name on cabin. The gate is to a whole area of cabins, not just this cabin, and says Do Not Enter. Another sign before that also said Private Road Do Not Enter. It would have been helpful to know about the signs. A nice man stopped and told us where to go. One mattress did not have a mattress protector on, and was very stained when we removed sheets as requested. A window in the large bedroom was missing a window covering, so the light came in. We did appreciate being able to reach the host quickly when we had a question about wifi and where to go to get into the river. Cabin was nicely stocked with dishes, utensils and other items. Overall, it is apparent that much care and effort has been put into this. The neighborhood was very quiet, but there was a fair amount of highway noise when on the deck.
Great little cabin on the River for that special getaway. Great view of the River, Spacious deck with room for everyone or you and that special someone just enjoying the sights and sounds of the awesome Current River. The cabin has everything you need for a great time.
Host were Awesome and made booking and check-in a very smooth process.
The only thing we didn’t like was we thought we could go swimming in the river but there wasn’t a place to get in and out of the water and the outside furniture and deck needed cleaning other than that we loved our stay!
Visited with two friends and spent the weekend on the river and in the cottage. Nice inside, easy check in, outdoor area was a great place to relax. Owner was flexible and responsive.
We were in town for work, but it was so nice to come home to a place we could relax and cook dinner. Such a cute place with a beautiful view! I’m sure it’s a fun place to stay in the summer time.
Enjoyed stay. Great cabin, very reasonably priced. Nice location on the river. Another review mentioned the dock/landing at the base of the stairs had washed out. It has been replaced and was a nice spot to sit next to river and relax. Internet access was never an issue during our stay. Hope to return again this summer!
The Current River Cottage was great. Clean, quiet, very peaceful. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience, especially the riverside fire pit. The property manager was responsive, kind and courteous. We had an enjoyable couple of days and would stay there again.
We really enjoyed our time at this cabin on the Current River. So peaceful and relaxing. It was everything we imagined. Communication was great with our host and everything was as it was explained before we arrived. We will definitely stay again!
This place has everything you need! Comfortable beds, plenty of towels, a well-stocked kitchen and a host who communicates well! The deck overlooking the Current, flat-top grill and huge firepit were great for evenings. Close enough to town in case you forgot something but feels super remote (only with WiFi)! Gravel bar to play around on is very close and we had a great float. Easy check-in/out, too!
This property is gorgeous...inside and outside! Such a cute rental place right on the river. The owner was very responsive with any questions I had about close attractions. We appreciated the La Croix, coffee and snacks! Some great times were had on the deck. I recommend this property and would love that stay there again :)
We loved this house! It was so stylish and equipped with anything you would need for a stay away from home....except a toilet plunger. We had to run to the hardware store for that one. Beds are so comfy! We were disappointed the advertisement of the cottage shows an intact deck and access to the river for swimming and fishing, but were informed with the checkin instructions the deck had been damaged and is no longer there. That would have been good to know up front and prior to renting. It was so hot this past week and the air had a hard time keeping the place cooled. Hot at night and super cold in the am. Overall, we loved our stay at this cottage. Thank you for thinking of everything....legit it was such a sweet place to stay.
Right on the water and very clean and nice cabin. The neighbors were very friendly. Only downside was the road leading to it. The road is gravel and not well maintained.
