Explore the diverse island, as a free shuttle bus takes you on walks across the island in summer. You can also take a boat to admire Fort Boyard. You can also visit Rochefort, Royan and the famous La Palmyre Zoo and go bird watching in the Moëze-Oléron nature reserve. Did you know that Marennes-Oléron is the largest oyster farming center in Europe with around 6,000 hectares of oyster farms and 3,000 hectares of "claires"? So if you haven't tasted an oyster yet, you have plenty of opportunity to do so here.
