Great Home, Fully Furnished and a now a new sauna for after the days adventures!

A couple of new upgrades to our home. We have just installed 240 charging for electric vehicles (sorry not Tesla - this is a level 2 J1772). We also installed a 5 person infrared sauna! So for all you bikers and hikers and skiers and hunters, it is a great way to relax! This two bedroom home provides you with a comfortable and convenient location for all your fun in Southwest Colorado. Great outdoor sports and interesting destinations lie in all directions and when the day is done, come 'home' to relax in comfort. Sleeps 4 comfortably in two full bedrooms and then there is a futon that can be relocated as needed for 2 more and we can accommodate extra children that love to 'camp out'. Fully loaded kitchen, bathroom, separate dining area and breakfast nook give you plenty of living space. Loops coffee shop next door can get your caffeine needs and breakfast burrito ready to go.
All four seasons are a wonderful time to visit the Southwestern United States. Spring weather can have a few storms but generally we have sunny days, the national parks are open, and the weather is beautiful for exploring. Summer days are for bike riding, hiking, boating, and adventures. Fall is a wonderful time in the Southwest region for your color watch - seeing the trees change into their glorious new wardrobe before winter. Hunters can have all the amenities and still be close to a multitude of good hunting spots. Wintertime equates to great skiing at either Purgatory (formerly known as the Durango Mountain Resort) or Telluride. Cross country ski almost anywhere when the snow is good. The Dolores River is literally 200 yards from your front door and McFee Reservoir is 1 mile away. Go skiing in Telluride or Durango, great mountain biking can be found at Boggy Draw (3 miles away) or Phil's World (12 miles away) just to name a few. Visit Mesa Verde or check out the Ute Mountain Tribal park to fulfill your archeological dreams. Truly there are too many things to do in the area to list them all. We recently became an Electric Vehicle owner and so we have charging access by both level 1 and level 2 charging for SAE J1772 (we have a Chevrolet Bolt).

We.enjoyed our week in "Fort Dolores" so much. Hubby hunted in the nearby forest while i took walks around town, read, and knitted. We had some great meals.out in the evenings at local restaurants. As for the property, it is spacious, comfy, fully equipped, quiet, and charming. Steve and Robby are great hosts. They even accommodated our reservation change atthe last minute. Absolutely recommend this VRBO.

Wonderful!
This property was perfect for our family of 4 (including two teenagers). We used the air mattress. The property had everything we needed, including everything we needed to cook. Owners were quick to reply to questions. We would be happy to stay here again!

Second stay!
Another great trip to Dolores visiting family. We stayed here a few years ago and had such a great experience we stayed again. The location is perfect- one block from the river, a short walk to the market and close to many sightseeing opportunities like Mesa Verde. The house stayed cool and comfortable, the beds are comfortable as well, the shower has awesome water pressure and the kitchen was well equipped. Even though we stayed to ourselves, Robbie made us feel well taken care of and was available for any needs that we might have. Next time we visit, we will be sure to stay here again!

Great getaway!
My friends and I came down forba few days to do Mesa Verde and other putdoor acyivites. The house was absolutely adorable, well stocked and perfect for our needs. There is a coffee shop right out your front door which was very convenient. Steve and Robby were so kind and welcoming. We loved the town of Dolores and everything it had to offer. If we ever come back down south we will definitely stay here!

A perfect stay!
The comfortable house, the good lighting, the more than friendly reception, the fact that everything functions - what more could we wish for? Well - on top of that we got a trip in the 1962 VW 23-window minibus up the mountain, a tour of the mountain property (plus more antique cars) and a precious time in our wonderful hosts' company enjoying wine and cheese - making a great vacation perfect. P.S. Favorite restaurants in Dolores: Montezuma and Dolores River Brewery. Favorite restaurants in Cortez: Shiloh Steak House and Farm Bistro.

Lovely home with everything we needed !!
Robbie and Steve were a pleasure dealing with. I needed a package delivered to us on our stay. Robbie was so great in helping me out to ensure we got the package. Thanks again for that Robbie. I just love staying there it truly is a home away from home. I look forward to going back.

Our Dolores Vacation
I must say our families stay was of course a memorable one. Robbie and Steve were able to fulfil a request we had put in for a grill. Thanks so much for that. We loved that the lake is only 300 ft from the house and that jumping rock is right there for us to cool off into. The rooms and kitchen are beautiful. Dolores is a peaceful and relaxing town. Thank goodness we picked Dolores to vacation in because that is what I consider a vacation peaceful and relaxing.

Better Than Advertised
This proper is better than advertised. My wife and I stayed at this property for a week and had an outstanding stay. The property has a cool retro vibe and all the rooms in the house are large. We cooked almost every night and the house was stocked with everything we needed. The owners were friendly and responsive while respecting our privacy. The location is perfect as we were able to visit: Telluride, Mesa Verde National Park, Cortez, and Mancos. Plus the Dolores River is about 200 yards away. We enjoyed the quaintness of Dolores and the friendliness of the town. Don't hesitate to book this property. We hope to be back

Fort Dolores was 5 Star!
Fort Dolores perfectly accommodated my family of 8 for a great visit over Mother's Day. We had a ball! There was plenty of room for everyone in this charmingly-furnished home; the three children especially liked their sleeping space what with all the books, games, and puzzles to explore. ALL the beds were extra-comfy and everything in the bathrooms was in good working order. Roomy and functional kitchen. As others have mentioned, great location with a coffee shop next door and the Dolores River nearby. We highly recommend this home away from home and would come back in a heartbeat! Thank you Robby and Steve!

Would not think twice about renting this house again!
We have rented dozens of homes over the years but nothing compared to this home with all of its' nooks and crannies to explore. Delores is a charming and quaint little town away from all of the hustle and bustle of tourists in Cortez and the Mesa Verde area in general. After a long day of exploring it was nice to settle in for the evening and know that you were going to have some peace and quiet away from the maddening crowds. Steve and Robby were great hosts and very easy to work with. We did not get the chance to meet Robby in person though we talked with her via the phone as she accommodated our request to check in a day early. Steve is a life long native of the area and was a wealth of information on local attractions missed by a lot of tourists who just don't know that they exist. One example would be the pipe people sculptures that were way cool. A one of a kind yard art so to speak. If your travels take you to SW Colorado this rental is one you cannot go wrong with. If we return to Mesa Verde anytime soon my base of operation will be in this house in Delores, CO. Thanks to Robby and Steve and their friend Steve, who works out of the basement in this house, for all of your kindness shown to us while we were in Delores. Thank you for sharing this wonderful old house (built in 1938 per Steve) with two southerners who had an absolutely fantastic time while staying here. We will be back! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

Perfect Hideaway in Delores, CO
Where does one begin...? I've never actually stayed at "a home away from home" before; always impersonal and austere hotels; get up, get your breakfast, get out. This wonderful and timeless Home was everything I hoped it would be... and more! I could look at nooks in the cliff face as I did dishes; I swear there is a ruin right across the road. I was able to cook and move about with ease in the very well-appointed kitchen, which made it much easier to save $$ than eating out every night. There is a market just down the road (featuring local grass-fed Beef)and a full-size grocery store in Cortez complete with a Starbucks (which our teenagers loved). Not to mention The Pony Expresso, full service coffee shop &snacks & wraps right next door, which was lovely, and convenient for mornings we DID get up and out to go see the sights. This beautiful and character-filled home accommodated 7 total for us; two adults, a toddler, and two teenagers sleeping upstairs, and my parents, in their 70's, downstairs. (There was another full-size bedroom still free, we could've easily had another couple join us!) The laundry facilities off the kitchen were a godsend. The two full bathrooms were ideal. The bedrooms upstairs were spacious and beautiful; Robbie & the Steves have worked so hard to modernize the space and make it convenient and homey, while still maintaining it's unique style. We were all thrilled with our stay; great restaurant right across the road, called Ponderosa (NOT the chain); best hot beef sandwiches I've had since my Grandmother's, many years ago. Waitresses are knowledgeable about the area; awesome homemade Salsa- we bought several jars! Walked along the River every night after dinner (bring bug spray), beautiful walk, very relaxing and cathartic. Bedroom downstairs has walk-in shower with lots of room, easily accessible for those with knee replacements, etc; also had a seat which enabled my mother to bathe in comfort. Ceiling fans moved the air wonderfully. The Front Porch is a perfect little spot to sip Iced Tea or Lemonade while you look at the stars. Truthfully, I have wished I was back in Delores since we have returned home so many times. It is really a lovely little town, with friendly people & beautiful sights. Don't miss the Anasazi Heritage Center; only a few miles up the road & gives you a real appreciation & understanding of the ancient peoples who inhabited this land. Thanks, Robbie & Steve. This family will definitely be coming back! :)

Wonderful stay
Great location in a small, quiet town. Close to several towns and the Mesa Verde Entrance. Our stay was the first week of June. Temperatures average 50 at night to about 80 °f in the afternoon. The river is super close to the house and accessible but still too cold to actually enjoy a fun dip. Doesn't stop anyone from trying though :) The Host offer several beach towels for any water expeditions you may tackle. House was as expected. Clean, plenty of space and a heater in the bathroom in case you get cold like me. The bathroom mirrors are not kid friendly height. Rooms were nice. Beds were good. The blinds over the windows do not block out much sunlight. By 530 am every morning the rooms were lite up. There is only one TV that's in the living area. No bedrooms have TV so keep that in mind if you have guests that need their own space. We did not explore around the property much. We did not access the sauna. But it was a good trip for us.

Great Small Town Experience
Delores is a wonderful small town and this home is a great way to get to know both the town and the area. Fun hiking within a mile, nice river walks right out the door and challenging hiking within a short scenic drive. Mess Verde is a 20-30 minute drive away. Farmers market in town on Wednesday evening. House was spacious and well appointed. I enjoyed morning coffee on the front porch. Wonderful, cool mornings! We definitely enjoyed our stay in every way.

Best rental in Dolores
This is our second stay in this home. Robby and Steve are tremendous hosts. Great personalities, easy to talk to and very accommodating. The house has been updated with great bathrooms that work well and bedrooms with beds that actually allow you to sleep.. The kitchen has way more utensils and appliances than most rentals. The cooking pans are Cuisinart and as a consequence it is very easy to prepare food in this kitchen. Laundry facilities are very nice and work flawlessly. The neighborhood is quiet despite being just off the main street in Dolores. Within walking distance of the Ponderosa Restaurant, grocery store and other places of interest. Did I mention that Robby and Steve are great hosts? We have stayed in other rentals with a much higher per night cost and this is far and away the best value per night. You will really enjoy your stay at this house.
