Beautiful sandstone cottage in picturesque village setting

Harviestoun House is a beautifully refurbished 2 storey sandstone cottage in the heart of Dollar, a picturesque small town at the foot of the Ochil hills 13 miles east of the historic city of Stirling.
The cottage comfortably sleeps 8 people in four bedrooms. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor. Bedroom one, with en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobe, has the flexibility of being either 2 twin beds or one superking size bed. Bedroom two has a double bed. Upstairs, reached from the galleried landing, bedrooms three and four can be either twin rooms or have superking size beds. Both rooms share a modern bathroom with over bath shower.
Downstairs the double height sitting room seats 8 people on two three seater sofas and one two seater sofa. There is a log burning stove for you to return to after sightseeing or walking in this beautiful area in the heart of Scotland. The sitting room, like all other rooms, has all new furniture and fittings and gas central heating.
The kitchen, with all modern conveniences including 4 ring gas stove and double electric oven, has a dining table for 8 people and a television with Freeview. Leading from the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. Also just off the kitchen is a sunroom which leads to the courtyard garden with outdoor seating and barbecue.
Steeped in history, Dollar has all facilities including cafes, restaurants and shopping on your doorstep. Visit 500 year old Castle Campbell, lowland seat of the Duke of Argyll, where Mary, Queen of Scots once lived in the 16th Century. The walk to the castle is by a spectacular series of paths, bridges and walkways in the deep gorges of the glen and its tributaries. Dollar’s other facilities include a small museum and 18 hole golf course notable for its steep inclines and lack of bunkers.
As well as being close to Stirling, Dollar is within easy reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh and St Andrews to the east so you are perfectly situated to take advantage of all Scotland has to offer from this central location.

Excellent property-lovely village
The house is on a main road but once we found it and our way around to park at the side, it was easy. The house was very clean and well presented and warmed up quickly. The provision of milk, bread, eggs and butter was a lovely touch but I had ordered a shopping delivery so we had extra to take home. We cooked in the kitchen and it was very well equipped. We had everything we needed. It is a short walk to the village shops, cafes and restaurants making it ideal to go out for meals and provisions. I would recommend the property to anyone looking for somewhere in this area.

At Home in Dollar
Our family of 5 (all adults) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dollar! The town is charming, and we especially enjoyed being able to walk down the street to the coffee shops, restaurants and co-op grocery store. The home is warm and inviting. We appreciated that there was room for everyone to have "their space". The beds super comfortable, and three bathrooms were very much appreciated. It was also wonderful to have a washer and dryer available for our use. We very much felt "at home".

Great time in Scotland
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Harviestoun House in Dollar. The house was clean and comfortable. A great location to venture over to St Andrews and Edinburgh or head west to Glasgow and all parts between. The Stirling Self Catering staff made the booking process easy and responded promptly to questions. We were very happy with our experience and highly recommend.

Lovely home
Lovely house, lots of space. Beds were comfy and thought if pretty much everything you might need. Clearer signed parking area at back may have helped but would come back

A luxury home from home.
We arrived to a spotlessly clean house, the basics were provided. Eggs, butter and milk in the fridge, some coffee and sugar. Everything for a good start. The wintergarden and the lounge invited for relaxing afternoons and evenings, a wood fired oven made it cozy. We found a folder with all the instructions for the kitchen fittings, washing machine and dryer and good insights for what to do in Dollar and around. Stirling Self catering, the agency, was just an email away and replied very quickly. But thanks to the very good condition of the house that was not necessary. The only downside are the very pretty blinds, unfortunately they let too much light in, so we woke up quite early every day. The check out was easy due to very specific emails that explained carefully every step. We returned home from a fabulous holiday, relaxed and refreshed.

A wonderful house in the middle of a wonderful village!
Kirsteen was very helpful in sorting out everything for our stay. Since we enjoyed our stay so much, we decided to stay at Harviestoun House for another New Year's. The house is immaculate inside and out. The log burner was most welcome in the evenings. The beds are exceptionally comfortable, the showers are lovely - powerful and warm. The towels and bedding are all provided, as are some samples of shower gel and shampoo. The kitchen is well equipped (save possibly for the lack of baking trays). The lounge has three comfortable sofas and a TV that conveniently comes with Netflix. There is a very helpful manual which sets out everything from the WiFi password to recycling instructions. In terms of location, there is a lovely Dollar's Deli down the road which serves delicious food. There is a Co-op also within walking distance. There is also a lovely walk up to Castle Campbell which I would highly recommend. It is about 40-50 minutes from either Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport which is very convenient. Lovely place and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay!

Had a lovely stay – just like home from home
Had a lovely stay at Harvistoun House, wish we could have spent longer in the area. Was the perfect base for our two families to stay for my cousin's wedding – and a welcome home from home following a 12-hour drive! Everything was just right. If we're ever up that far again, we'd love to return.

Dollar visit
A very comfortable stay in this spotless house. Very well equipped ...we enjoyed a nostalgic evening playing cluedo ...provided for us! We were a bit disappointed it wasn't cold enough to light the very inviting wood burner! The kitchen was very well equipped too. We all commented on how comfy the beds were! The house is in a great location .All the local amenities were nearby . We would all book again.

Wonderful house!
Kirsteen was a big help throughout the booking process and even whilst we were there. Harviestoun House is lovely. We stayed there as a group over new year's for a week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The property is well furnished throughout and we'll maintained. Dollar is a very nice village with an excellent delicatessen, and ideally located close to Edinburgh and Stirling. The house was very warm and clean and has clearly benefited from a full modern refurbishment. It has a very sizeable kitchen, 3 modern showers, good sized bedrooms throughout, a log burner and a sizeable lounge. The only small point to make is you may need to bring another frying pan and baking tray if you're cooking for a large group, otherwise the kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed our visit so much that we've booked the property again. Would definitely recommend the property and Stirling Self Catering!

Fantastic stay!
Clean, well stocked, beautifully decorated, ample space for our family of 5. We've had issues with reviews being positive and then the location not living up to expectations. This was not the case here. Would return here in a heartbeat. Met all expectations and then some. Home away from home! Great central location for Sterling and Edinburgh areas.

Two small quibbles, otherwise perfection!
The house is comfortable, spacious, and superbly appointed. It's a brand-new house INSIDE of a charming old stone one. Everything you could possibly need is there, and you'll have room to spread out comfortably. Would definitely book again on our next visit, and would HIGHLY recommend. First quibble: showers and tubs are very slick in Scotland (Ireland too). The slippery footing feels dangerous for elderly people, so we purchased a shower mat with suction cups, which made us feel safer. The house owners might want to consider providing non-slip mats. Second quibble: light from street lights is not blocked by the very attractive blinds on the windows. Room-darkening curtains or shades would be a nice addition. So, if you're elderly, have unsure footing, and have trouble sleeping . . . take a sleep mask and buy a non-slip mat for less than 3 pounds. But book this wonderful, superbly located house as your base in Scotland!

Harviestoun House
We rented Harviestoun House for 3 days as a base for my family and friends prior to my son's wedding. The property provided everything we needed. good sized double bedrooms, ample bathrooms, good location. Both the agent and the owner were very helpful during our stay and i would have no hesitation in recommending Harviestoun House for short term or longer stays.
