Our stay at this delightful property was everything that we could have hoped for and more
We have just returned from a week stay in Snowdonia at this cottage with our two children aged 7 & 9. We were absolutely thrilled with the weather which was sunny all week, only raining once overnight. The views, serenity and location were the key factors that we enjoyed most about our holiday at Hawdamorr. We couldn't fault the facilities and the hospitality of our hosts, Paul, Jen, Solwyn and Scooby. Our children had a delightful time playing with Solwyn and Scooby was one of the friendliest pooches we've met. We found it ever so handy to have the bicycle trail to Barmouth within such close reach, just across the toll bridge at the end of the road. We made good use of this, taking turns to venture out early and catch the estuary coming to life, occasionally with a mystic low lying mist and at other times, warm sunshine with birdlife aplenty. The two walks we ventured on were relatively short due to little legs. The Torrent walk, out of Dolgellau, along a river with untouched beauty. The other was the New Precipe Walk, offering unrivalled views of the estuary, we recommend taking a picnic as there is a table up top to stop and enjoy the view with a hot flask of tea. We treated the kids to Bounce Below at Zip World, it was pricey but a most memorable experience. An incredibly energetic time spent laughing, bouncing and sliding, a great one for the whole family! Portmeiron was a delight, a characterful Italianate village on an estuary with captivating Ornamental gardens as well as exploratory beach walks, Cafe Glas served scrumptious food. Fairhaven beach was a chilled and relaxing day with far-stretching white sands and pebbles for the kids to play. The George 3rd pub was our favourite stop for evening meals, stumbling distance from the cottage, breathtaking sunsets and watching the ducks and wildlife with a beer. They do very tasty food with a varied selection, we didn't run out of choice and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it too. In Barmouth, we favoured the Lobster Pot for sitting and watching the water and the hills whilst being served basic but tasty fayre, (an egg and bacon sarnie after the mornings bike ride).
We are itching to return to the area and miss the views from the cottage already. It was cosy, warm, well appointed and in a perfect location to access the surrounding areas. Thank you for accommodating us Jen, Paul and Solwyn, we can't recommend this beauty highly enough.
