Disliked: Staff & service
The hotel itself looks very grand and luxurious and impressive on entering, but that’s where it ends unfortunately
The reception staff were cold and unfriendly. Upon checking in we asked regarding a room upgrade to the junior suite which was available. We asked for this as complimentary excuses when we booked the week before, we paid
£120 more for their smaller superior room! Yet on arrival the costs of all rooms had dropped significantly, despite this we asked for an upgrade to junior suite but cheekily the staff said there would be an additional charge of £40 extra per night.
In addition the TV did not work throughout our 3 night stay from check in to check out. We Phoned reception every day and was promised it would be dealt with and was never fixed. This was Abysmal service for what is supposedly a 5* “VIP” hotel. I have never experienced such poor staff service at a 5* hotel.
Finally the breakfast at the hotel was incredibly poor, for such a grand hotel it’s more like a breakfast for a city hotel. We were taken aback by how limited the number of items on offer for breakfast and how small the size of the serving area was. There was littl variety of friut, little to non existent service m, not once were we offered a cup of tea. The staff were there for show and it is not what you would expect from a name such as Steigenberger.
All in all this could be a 5* hotel but the staff and non existent maintenance team and breakfast let the hotel down massively
