"The home and grounds are beautiful and overall we would recommend it. We were disappointed that the pool was not heated as advertised for July. Also whilst the beach views are stunning, you cannot swim due to possible crocs (as we were told by locals) but this is not mentioned on the ad. Many of the window openings are broken, we had dirty blankets on 2 of the beds, mould on the bathroom ceilings, dirty cutlery in the drawer and general scuff marks on walls. "It's a really beautiful spot and the house is beautiful too. Mostly as advertised, but not quite, On arrival, you find that it's solar powered and water is rainwater so you're asked not to use any electrical appliances, minimise use of wi-fi and minimise water usage. Eco credentials are commendable but the limitations should be made clear before you book and pay top dollar. There is no washing machine (cos it would use too much power) although booking sites said there was one. Photos of the pool...

"Newell Beach is the perfect distance from Port Douglas. Close enough to get to it when you need to, but far enough away from the crowds that it feels like your own piece of paradise. The house is wonderfully open and light with a huge deck overlooking the pool and beach. We had breakfast there most days. When the weather was less kind, the kitchen and living areas are huge and have pretty much everything you could want. I highly recommend it"

"The communication and ease of booking is excellent . The house is clean and has a lovely look over the beach . It was windy while we were there . I’m not sure if that is usual and you can’t swim in the beach due to crocodiles however it’s stunnng to wake to the sound and look of waves . Great managers of the property! Also no blinds and doors are not solid so you can hear everything"
