Welcome to Tasmania and all the beautiful seasons!
PLEASE NOTE THE BELOW HOUSE RULES AT THE END OF THIS DESCRIPTION :)
My home is based high up on a hill in Central North Tasmania, yet only 10 minutes drive to the main town, Ulverstone, and the many beaches.
The accommodation available is a studio room (the cabin!) with a kitchen area and your own separate bathroom. A cozy weekend getaway, with, I'm told, the comfiest queen bed!
Just to note: There is no rubbish collection up here, so please take your own rubbish away with you. Also, this is a non smoking environment, both within and without the buildings.
A choice of cotton sheets or flannelette are available. Flannelette is great for that extra 'coziness' when it's cold outside!
Warm as toast on the inside with a wall heater, electric blankets AND two hot water bottles - the last two of which you won't need but might just like to have the option to use :) There is a pedestal fan available to keep cool with on those warm days.
I have designated this accommodation for two people only, however, babies and pre-toddlers in their own porta-cots are also very welcome :)
The Powerhouse Studio @ Eagles Rise is now available on a separate listing. This accommodation can sleep up to five people.
There are some DVDs available in the cabin for your use, as well as some well loved board games!
A bath seat also available, should someone need it for an easier shower. Just let me know.
The cabin is attached to the main house with a separate hallway in between which lends to good privacy. The West facing sliding doors out to the carport which will be your main entryway. This area is where you will park your vehicle. All windows in the cabin are double glazed and fly screened. Very cozy!!
There is also a little private garden on the Eastern side of the house, where you can have your morning coffee, or dine under the stars. There is a Weber BBQ there also available for your use.
When you don't feel like cooking, you can have Pizza delivered to your door by the Red Grasshopper in town! There is also Pedros for fish and chips - takeaway or the Pedros restaurant on the water, Jade Willow for a delicious Chinese meal and Buttons Brewery for a great place to sit and eat, as well as drink local brews, on the Ulverstone Wharf, as well as many others!
A picnic backpack is also available, should you wish to go somewhere for a picnic.
The property is on 35 acres in a rural area, with many tourist attractions nearby, such as Leven Canyon, Gunns Plains Caves, Wings Wildlife Park (Tasmania's largest wildlife/animal park) and Cradle Mountain is only 82 kilometres away.
It's a great spot to base yourself whilst traveling around this area of Tasmania, or even if you are just breezing through!
Being in a pocket of many creative cottage industries, there is a myriad of art galleries to explore, as well as antique stores and lots of little cafes to relax in and drink excellent coffee! Penguin beach is only 15 minutes away, where there is a large Sunday market to browse. The best cafe for breakfast and coffee would be the Letterbox Cafe on the esplanade there. The well renowned 'Wild' restaurant that was in Penguin, is now Mrs Jones and based in Devonport. Book ahead!
The nearest airport is Devonport Airport, 30 minutes drive from the house. Devonport harbour, where the Spirit of Tasmania comes in from Melbourne, is only 25 minutes. A flight from Melbourne to Devonport is around one hour. Launceston Airport is an hour and a half drive away and to Hobart from Eagles Rise, it is around a three and a half to four hours drive.
Looking forward to meeting you and here's a list of nearby things to see and do :)

There is internet access but it can be intermittent as it is wireless and is therefore affected by the weather!
There is a private guest garden, with a picnic bench, table and chairs and the barbeque :)
When I am here, I am as visible or invisible as my guests require :) I had one couple, newly weds, that I didn't see for four days!!! :) And then I've enjoyed lovely chats with others, sitting watching the sunset during cocktail hour! :)
To be sensitive to the needs of my guests is important to me, and even when I am away, I am always accessible, as well as having someone looking after the place for me in my absence.
I love my neighbourhood because of the people in it and the marvellous views that surround me up here.Any neighbour that you might knock on the door asking for help, will be there for you.
The local Gawler General Store on Gawler Road is definitely one of those! Susan is a friend and is one of the most helpful and kind people I know. She is at 170 Gawler Road, on your way up here and open from 7am to 7pm week days. Petrol is available there too, along with yummy snacks and coffee :)
No public transport, except the school bus in the morning! You wanted to 'get away' didn't you?!
There are taxi cabs from Devonport airport that can bring you up here, but I would suggest a hire car if you don't have your own, so that you can visit all there is to see around here.
Come to relax, enjoy 'you' in the peaceful place that is Eagles Rise and delight in all that is around you :)
If you have other friends or family traveling with you, 'The Powerhouse @ Eagles Rise' studio is now completed! It is primarily set up as a photographic studio, but has all the accommodation needs and is set it up on Airbnb currently.
I look forward to meeting you!
Kindest regards
Kit
PLEASE NOTE THE BELOW HOUSE RULES:
Just respect :) If you are looking for a 'party' destination, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for peace and tranquility, with a whole lot of sky and a caring host, then this is definitely the place! Please note, the smoking restrictions are for both within and without the accommodation. If you do smoke, with respect, please choose another accommodation. Feel free to discuss this with me further :)
Please note, the infants policy for up to 2 years old does not enable me to indicate NON-TODDLERS.
This is an environmentally conscious property. What you come in with, please leave with and this includes your rubbish. It would be very much appreciated that you take your rubbish away with you, as there is no rubbish collection up here. Bags will be made available to you, as well as a map showing where the bins in town are. Taking in a small bag with you each day, makes it easy to dispose of in the height restricted bins.
With regards to any oils or fats, please do not pour these down the sink as I am on a septic tank up here. Just pour them onto the ground outside, away from the main entrances. The water for the cabin is rainwater and is filtered outside of the building through two filters. The stone filter in the kitchenette area further filters the water down to one micron - it's like drinking silk! It is also safe to drink the water from the tap.
Please be aware here that my water source is ONLY rainwater, so if you could please be water wise that would be really appreciated. If you are staying up to 3 days, and wanting to use the bath, one full tub would be acceptable. Up to 5 days, two uses would be fine, etc. Just remember that baths use up a lot more water than showers do! In the summer months it is preferable that only the shower is used :) There is a dryer on the premises that is a cash cost of $5 for 30 minutes including cool down. This can be made available to you should you choose to do some hand washing. Please do not ramp up the electric heater to just dry your clothes on the drying rack! There is a laundrette in King Street in Ulverstone with washing machines and large dryers to use should you wish to use them. As you are booking into an accommodation that is in a rural and forest area, there is wildlife - both big and small. Please be aware that snakes can be around in Summer and to just watch where you walk, stepping loudly helps :) In Autumn and Spring, there are the millepedes that just pop in from time to time (more so when it rains) and in Summer, there are the scorpions. The property is sprayed within and without for both these pests, including spiders. Please note, you will see these critters but they should be on their last legs due to the spray. If not, it's a simple action of sweeping them up and chucking them out the door or using the vacuum cleaner that is situated on the floor next to the chest of drawers. I can always pop in during your stay to do a clean sweep of them for you. Please, please, please! Be mindful of closing the sliding doors or screen! I've never had a snake get in, but if one did, it would be so hard to find and remove! The other critter I definitely don't want in there is a mouse! They are faster than a flash and can come in even at night if you are popping out to your car, or going out to the Cabin garden to bbq! Please close the screen/sliding doors behind you :) Should you have some food you wish to contain - that doesn't go into the fridge, please let me know and I can provide you with some medium/large plastic containers. Storing food in containers prevents attracting mice! Please know that if there is something that you need/want that is not in the cabin accommodation, please let me know and I will see if I have it.
Thank you for your understanding and acceptance of the above.
Kindest regards,
Kit
