Vikingemuseet Ladby is a situated just outside of the small town of Kerteminde on the island of Funen, Denmark. This Viking Museum sits close by the burial mound in which a Viking king was laid to rest in his boat along with horses and other offerings to his gods more than 1000 years ago.

The site was first excavated in 1934 and concrete dome cover has been constructed to protect and allow access to the site. The wood has long since gone but the outline of the boats hull, planking and iron rivets can be clearly seen along with the skeletons of the horses, anchor and other adornments.

The museum narrates the story of the discovery and allows visitors a glimpse of what life would have been like back then. It has a reconstruction of boat in a lower room with artefacts and objects found at the site displayed above. On an adjacent plot enthusiasts are currently building a full scale replica using the same tools and methods used by the Viking shipbuilders.

"The absolute worst accommodation I have ever experienced. Wooden cabins full of dust and dirt, old mattresses full of dust and never cleaned, lots of ants all over the cabin, couldn't get rid of them. The upper floor is climbed by a very steep ladder, absolutely unsuitable for the safety of children. No beds upstairs, only mattresses on the floor. Stale air. Nevermore."

"This hotel says it is 4 star hotel. I would definitely not agree. The location is beautiful nature area near the water but the property is in serious need of attention. The immense amount of cobwebs in the pergola covered walking areas and dead vegetation in the gardens was frankly depressing and creepy. The carpet was in need of replacement 20 years ago easily. No A/C in Denmark is normal but what I don't understand is, if you KNOW everyone will have to open the windows, why wouldn't they have...

"We liked our stay overall. We did receive 2 phone calls and an email asking us to cancel our stay because they were full. We didn’t see the email because our phone service doesn’t work well in foreign countries. So we showed up for our reservation and we were the only 3 people staying at the place. "Nice cozy hotel in town centre - short walking distance to main square, shopping street and two Gothic churches (seemingly always closed)…. Excellent rich breakfast, but ONLY till 9:30 sharp. "We had a great relaxing stay! Quiet location but still close enough to the ocean, surrounding villages and shops. Perfect for a day trip down to Møn aswell! Great host who's always helpful and around if you have any questions throughout your stay. Has a fully equipped kitchen which we cooked both dinner and breakfast in. (Also includes free coffee and tea) Extra + very comfortable bed, pillow, duvet & sheets! "

"We were looking for a hotel close to Mons Klint and this fit the bill. Just a 15 min drive from Mons Klint and close to grocery stores and restaurants. Rooms were a good size, clean and quiet. Included breakfast was very good. Staff was very nice and helpful. Views from the room were of the golf course which was very beautiful and quiet. "

Problems with PIN code based access that they change during your stay, and don’t inform about the new code so you can not get in during unmanned hours of the reception (which is all the time almost).
