The home is built on the 3+ acre property at the top of Scar Top Mountain at 8,400-feet elevation while the back deck overlooks Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, Rocky Mountain National Park's 14,259-foot high Long's Peak and Mount Meeker and Estes Park mountains, Golden Gate State Park's and Arapahoe National Forest's Mount Thorodin and Star Peak, 14,265-foot Mount Evans on a clear day, the backsides of the Boulder Flatirons mountains including South Boulder Peak, Bear Peak, and Green Mountain, and thousands of evergreen trees in view. Sleeps folks with many options. There is a master bedroom with a king bed, a bunk room with 3 twins and 2 full beds (and a kids reading loft), and a queen bedroom. There are also 5 bathrooms: 3 full, 1 half and a powder bath.
Plenty of parking along with two natural gas fire stoves, three picnic tables, pine window casings, knotted hemlock beams and pillars, double barn doors and a stove for warmth and ambiance!
Quartz Mountain Ranch has the amenities of a luxury home and is located in a secluded area to get away from the business of the city but close to Denver, Boulder, Golden, Lakewood and I-70 to the Summit County ski resorts.
Fiber Optic cable internet all the way up the mountains to the home at 8,400 feet elevation for 50 MB per second download speed + 50 MB per second upload speed. This is truly amazing!!!
Perfect for a romantic getaway, recreation, family retreat or business trip. Nestled in the woods of Coal Creek Canyon, this lodge is private and peaceful. It is within 2.5 miles of Hwy 72 so it has great access and only 15 minutes from the plains.
Snowshoes (2 sets) are provided for our wooded areas and open space around the property.
Activities in the area: Many within about a half-hour.
Fishing, ice fishing, hunting, hiking, rock climbing, golf, kayaking, rafting, horseback riding, bike riding, atv, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, boating, hunting, snow shoeing, sledding and cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, golf, gambling, shows, Coors Brewery, and shopping. The property looks over Walker Ranch hiking and biking area and the Gross Reservoir water area, dam and spillway.
The small mountain town of Nederland is quite an experience to explore. Rafting in Idaho Springs 41 miles. Denver is also just 35 miles away where you can enjoy The Buell Theater(concerts, plays, symphony), Natural History Museum, Denver Broncos football, Colorado Rockies baseball, Denver Nuggets basketball, Colorado Avalanche hockey and so much more. Water World Water Park is within 45 minutes as well as Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park. Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Vail Ski Resorts make a good day trip. Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park are 60 miles away. Rafting and hot springs in Idaho Springs. Denver Intl Airport is an hour away. National Western Stock Show, Red Rocks Amphitheater is 26 miles and you can take a party bus through ride-to-redrocks. Check out Eldorado Hot Springs and enjoy a massage.
This lodge has incredible views and privacy within the forest at the top of Scar Top Mountain. Wildlife can also be seen. It is within minutes to a convenience store, liquor store, a tavern, and a Mexican/American restaurant. There is also a coffee shop close by where you can rub shoulders with the friendly locals and enjoy periodic musicians. A couple Non-Denominational churches are close by as well. You will really experience Colorado here. We have 2 natural gas fire stoves for plenty of warmth so you can enjoy a cozy fire with snow falling throughout the abundant trees on the property. There are many picture windows throughout the home. When not snowing, enjoy a barbecue on a spacious deck with breathtaking views while cooking on the natural gas grill to cook. There is hiking, sledding (sleds provided) and snowshoeing (two sets provided) on our property. We have frisbees for you to set up a course and have a kids’ climbing wall and swings inside as well as many games, books and videos. The lodge is newly built in 2014 and has been professionally custom designed. The beds are extremely comfortable and high quality in each bedroom. Extras include two pianos (one is a baby grand piano), a laundry room, and a garage.
Dining area with bar seats 9 people.
Bedding, towels, kitchen pots, pans, utensils, etc. are also provided.
Entertainment: 2 high-definition television sets (main one is 65") with Dish satellite network, Netflix, Wii Games, high-speed WiFi (50 Mbps download -- rare in the mountains), and nationwide phone calling.
There is a trampoline, a level volleyball court / badminton court on the granitic sand and beloved Kinnikinic ground covering near the camper, a slack line, corn hole game, and a short football field in the triangle near the picnic table and large Limber Pine Tree. Volleyballs, badminton rackets, shuttlecocks, and footballs are in the box on the cement back patio downstairs.
A slackline is also available. Slacklining is the art of balancing and walking on a soft and stretchy 1" or 2" wide strap called "webbing" that can aid a person's coordination, balance and can provide fun.
An elliptical trainer and a few weights are available on the first floor.
Mountain and Road Biking are both all over the area.
Peaceful, tranquil and charming, you will never forget your time spent at Quartz Mountain Ranch.
Stellar blue jays, nuthatches, finches and robins frequent the home except in the coldest wintertime. Birdseed is sometimes provided or can be purchased to set on the deck railings for them to eat while you can watch them for the comfort inside the lodge.
Hummingbirds love the area in the summertime. Hummingbirds with their high-pitched whine, frequent the property. They love to sit on the dead limbs of the huge Douglas Fir just west of the deck.
Front + Back Deck lights are programmed to stay on all night for 4 hours.
This Historic Property was originally owned by and was named after the 1931-1935 Denver Mayor, George Davis Begole.
