What can we say other than, come and enjoy our exclusive 400 acre paradise. This shangi-la has been characterized by some as indescribable... but let me try... a secluded getaway with a private, pristine 12 acre lake for fishing, boating and swimming. Miles of awesome trails to reconnect with the serenity of nature. Soak up the views and ponder on our mountaintop sanctuary. Visit our horses in the meadows, the stable or watch them being trained in the indoor arena. Marvel at the amazing stars, hike up to Lookout Point and more...
Perfect romantic getaway at the end of the road the One Room Cabin sits at the edge of a forest overlooking a grassy meadow.....just a 5 minute stroll to the Lake.
Natures Cabin in Paradise is a Sweet Sunny 'one of a kind cabin' with fireplace, claw foot tub, cozy/comfy seating area, small kitchen, deck overlooking nature....
Plus our incredible drinking water from mountaintop artesian wells!!

Unusual experience - will not go back but had a nice time
The property is just as described, as we stayed in a small cabin at edge of woods. It was clean and nicely decorated. Check in time was 4 pm. and we planned accordingly when setting out our travel itinerary. Property owners emailed me and let us know we could check in earlier at 2 pm, as they had plans that evening. They also wanted us to text them 4 times and gave very specific requests as to when they wanted to hear from us throughout our journey to their location. The directions and places they wanted us to text along the way were made as though we were coming from NYC , which we were not, but we adjusted and did provide updates throughout our travels, as they did not want to be waiting a the barn to meet us, so they stated. The check in was easy enough and some guidance was provided as to what we could do while there. The lake is small but big enough to boat or kayak on but we were asked not to boat on the part of the lake that is in front of their house. When checking in, we asked about keys for the cabin to lock up when away and we were informed that they don't give keys. First time that ever happened to me. So we could lock door at night when in but could not secure our property when away. We were also asked to inform them via. text if we were going to be out late, such as past 10 pm. We were asked to read and sign a waiver but he had no pen with him. We were asked to sign it and place in the mailbox at the end of the lane before we left for any outings. We then received a text reminder with the request to leave the signed waiver minutes after and a reminder that "sound travels." Mind you, we are middle age women looking for peace and quiet but do like to talk and laugh a bit. It made us feel uncomfortable, to say the least. Finally, with check out at or before 11 am. We received a text from owner at 10 am stating that although check out is at 11 am, they need to prepare for the next guest and asked us to move our car to the barn, which is some distance a way. I did not see the text until we were in our vehicle at 10:23 am leaving but was definitely not pleased with this message. Unusual Experience... As for sleep accommodations, the bed is not comfortable so be prepared. Also, no blow dryer was provided, as was stated in the description of amenities. The grass on the property by the cabin could have been mowed to reduce insects and it would have been nice to have an umbrella for the table, as it would accommodate one.

Perfect quiet getaway
Tom and Laura’s property is incredible. We took full advantage of the kayak and canoe provided and caught at least 20 large mouth bass from the lake and small pond. The hike to the top of the mountain was beautiful. Not strenuous at all and perfect for seeing the fall foliage. The cabin had cooking utensils and dishes but not much else so come prepared if you plan to eat in. The claw foot tub was lovely. And the cabin was pretty comfy and super cute. Tom was great. Super hospitable. On our second day there was a pretty bad wind storm and we lost power and water. Tom offered to bring anything we needed to make us comfortable Though we didn’t get a chance to formally meet Laura we hope we will next time. We can’t wait to go back.

We really enjoyed our time in NY! The property is a beautiful getaway. The pond has lots of bass to catch which was a fun afternoon activity. Lots of hiking available on the property and surrounding areas and great small towns to visit and shop. One of our favorites was Kingston. Would definitely recommend!

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a weekend to take in the astronomical views this property has to offer. Tom and Laura were very considerate and overall very catering to whatever we needed to enjoy our stay without being a nosy neighbor. We had not a single thing to complain about and we hope to return again someday.

This was the perfect getaway for us. Solitude, quiet, and beautiful. The cabin was bigger than expected, the deck was relaxing, and the hosts took care of anything we could have needed. If you want to get away and chill, this place is perfect. Plus there are fish to catch in the pond!

The Perfect Serene Getaway!
Right from check in we knew we were in a special and relaxing place to get away from it all. Our hosts, Tom and Laura, could not have been more accommodating from start to finish, while at the same time giving us the space we needed for a truly quiet weekend. The property is beautiful and peaceful. The walk up to Lookout Point for the sunset was the perfect start to the weekend. There is plenty of space and activities to enjoy, or just as important a nice calm porch sitting can be had where all you hear are the birds and a breeze through the trees. We enjoyed popping into town (both Delhi and Andes) to scout out the area, and the hiking we enjoyed both days was a topper to it all. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here. It is top-notch relaxation from start to finish; Tom and Laura are sincerely caring and respectful. The cabin in which we stayed was clean, comfortable, and the perfect blend of well appointed and rustic at the same time. We enjoyed spending time with the horses (Foxy included), and doing a paddle boat on the lake. We appreciated all the suggestions from our hosts regarding the area, as well as some stops to make along the way home. They were right on point. Tom and Laura, we couldn't have enjoyed it any more. It was exactly what we were looking for during the weekend stay. We look forward to returning in the Fall. Cheers!

Serenity
I always like to keep my expectations low, so as not to be disappointed, this stay, was the nicest stay I’ve had in 30+yrs of traveling the world. Sometimes, I would just sit on the property and listen to the silence. Everything, the hosts, the horses, the water, the cabin, the woods and the landscaping, magical. My daughter said, “if we’d done nothing all summer, but this stay, she would say, we had an amazing summer!” This property is a gift and a stay here is a gift to yourself, an escape from the noise, from covid, from pollution, from whatever you need to recover from, to peace, beauty and serenity. I swam, walked, fed and shmuggled horses, had lovely chats with Tom and Laura, and spent time enjoying the beauty of nature. I have no words! Beyond. Something magical. More than a stay, a recuperation! Plus my daughter saw Mars, in the night sky! Thanks so much to the hosts, especially, for creating an environment and opening it to visitors, and the horses, and the land, for rejuvenating us for a return to city life, and a new year of work and school. Blissful Escape from the City
I live in a small apartment in Brooklyn with no outdoor space, and during the pandemic, my partner and I had not left the apartment except for groceries and takeout for five months. By July, the numbers in NYS were finally low enough that we decided it would be safe to rent a car and drive somewhere outside of the city as long as it was isolated from other people. I found an available week at the "Thoreau Cabin" at Rippling Waters and I jumped on it, then kept my fingers crossed for a month that the numbers would stay low enough for us to travel. They did, and when we finally arrived at the cabin, my already heightened expectations were far exceeded. The cabin itself was absolutely lovely. Incredibly clean and well-tended. It was the perfect mix of modern comfort and rustic charm to satisfy both my partner's and my divergent needs in a vacation spot. It has electricity, hot water, a kitchen with a hotplate and small fridge and everything you'd need to cook simple meals, Internet access, a TV with a DVD player, an AC for if it gets too hot (though we only used it one evening), and a real bed to keep my partner comfortable (the wifi was even better than we have at home!), but it was rustic enough to make me feel like I was out in nature and not in a stuffy hotel room. There is a huge picture window by the sofa and screens on all the other windows and the front door, so we could leave all the windows open and sit in the comfort of the living room but feel like we were outside with the smells, sounds, and breeze of the woods. We had a fire in the fire pit and cooked hot dogs and corn, and toasted marshmallows. There is a lovely meadow where we played lawn games we'd brought with us. (The cabin also has a few for guests to use.) It was so private; we really had the space to ourselves to breathe. And the land the cabin is on felt to me like it had been designed for quarantine rehab. There were only four other guests there while we were there and we hardly saw them. We were in the lake every day, swimming and boating. We walked the grounds and visited the horses. We sat outside on the deck and watched the birds and bees. We even saw hummingbirds a few times. We took a "hike" up one of their trails to a beautiful lookout view of Delhi that would normally have been an easy walk for us, but after five months in quarantine, it was an adventure. Laura & Tom were easy to reach via text but let us have our privacy. It was the perfect escape from the city!

This place is not for black people
We had booked a 3 day stay , ended up leaving on the Second because of the uncomfortably we experienced .When we arrived everything was stunning and going well although We were slightly moved by the majority of the windows having no curtains feeling like we had no privacy, we ended up covering all the windows the first night with blankets and pillows.the Husband had made an inconsiderate comment as Well when we first met about “ Jamaicans wearing braids” .. quite Insulting .. not only that but later Throughout the evening he approached me and my boyfriend asking us to “Help” or “inform him “ on our people (black people) because he’s pretty much ignorant towards anything About us.. saying hopefully he can ask questions to better inform himself although it did not seem that way.. mind you this was a 5 minute convo of just him talking and saying this.we were totally caught of guard but decided to ignore it.the last night my boyfriend and I got back to the cabin around 8-9 ish in hopes of cooking out on they're little mini grill while roasting next to the bon Fire.i contacted the Woman who owns the property in hopes for some coal because we couldn’t find any , first she said in the morning but I overheard her husband say he would go.. but when he approached my boyfriend he gave a full blown attitude legit dropping the coal next to him With a annoyed energy .im not Quite sure if my boyfriend and I did the bon Fire right but when he asked he got a rude response back with no instructions as to how we were supposed properly prep it.After we’ve decided we’ve been uncomfortable long enough I decided to text her and let her know i didn’t understand why this was happening especially after he offered to bring it .. We legit just wanted to bbq .so I kindly text “Thanks for the stay and we’ll be out of your Hair In the morning” not understand what happened .she text back saying there was a miscommunication but how everything happened I highly doubt that so besides the hiccups I just Brought up we also notice little lies here and there they were telling that also made us uncomfortable especially at this time.. beautiful beautiful place and animals .. unfortunately we did not get to experience the whole property but one thing is for sure that place is not for black people to reside comfortably .

Great getaway
We stayed in a cabin for two nights and had a great time. Tom and Laura are wonderful hosts, very warm and welcoming. The property was quiet and peaceful, with several trails, and plenty of options for recreation at the lake (there were paddle boats, canoes, and kayak, and row boats). The barn was beautifully built and the black horses were stunning. Cabin was cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. The private grass area in front of our cabin had a charcoal grill as well as a fire pit (and Tom offered to set up the fire for us if we wanted). The bed was a little squeaky. Overall, the trip was the quiet and happy getaway we were looking for.
