A newly renovated 120 m2 (=1290 ft2) condo is at your service. The rooms (>25 m2 = 270 ft2) are 3.6 m high (=12 ft). This is an original Jewish civic house from 1900. The House, of course, is renovated and gives you all the comfort of the 21st century. The view over the rooftops of Debrecen makes this flat so unique. Wide windows let the daylight in, but can be shaded (electrical) if you like it dark.
You have full access to all rooms. All facilities and all equipment are exclusively at your service. You are not sharing anything.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and serving at least 10 persons. We can provide essential groceries (like salt, pepper, oil, etc.) if you wish. We can also do the shopping for you. If ordered, the fridge is filled with everything you ask for at your arrival. But you can also take advantage of the wide range of restaurants with delivery service. These are remarkably inexpensive in Debrecen and save you a lot of time and effort.
On the other hand, 24 h grocery stores are just a few steps away, and a vast Superstore (Tesco) is at the end of the street (500 m). Please be aware that most Hungarian shops accepted credit cards. Still, the Hungarian currency is the Forint.
The flat is equipped with an 8 kg washing machine and an extra dryer. Three TV sets, including Pay TV and streaming service, are set up to entertain you. We can provide air conditioning (on demand) because summers in Debrecen are dry but hot (up to 40 °C =104°F). We offer a free car park in the courtyard. Parking outside on the streets of Debrecen is not free. I am confident that you will feel most comfortable in our flat during your stay in the second-largest city of Hungary and the region's centre.
The flat is located 3 minutes walk away from the cultural and commercial centre of Debrecen. It is the central square with "the big church" (HU=Nagytemplom). Buses stop in front of the building. They take you to all the places in the city and the nearby surroundings. The streets in the area are all renovated and in good condition. It's an excellent bourgeois urban environment. Like most Hungarian city centres, our location is also monitored by cameras and, therefore, safe day and night.
Debrecen is the second-largest city in Hungary after Budapest and the Hungarian lowlands' commercial and cultural regional centre. Debrecen was also the capital of Hungary during the revolution from 1848 to 1849. During the revolution, the reformed great church declared the dethronement of the Habsburg dynasty. The city was also the capital of Hungary from 1944 to 1945. It is home to the University of Debrecen. According to the Financial Times, this city is one of the world's most popular investment areas (Top 10). The steady influx of companies and the massive investment around BMW means that Debrecen is a very international city. The University is also attended by more than 10,000 non-Hungarian-speaking students. This cosmopolitan and well-organized metropolis facilitates you with everything that belongs to an urban, globalized lifestyle.
Very close and yet far enough. The flat is centrally located, but not in the pedestrian zone. The train station is a few, the highway 10 minutes by car. Bars and restaurants are just steps away. Park your car in our courtyard for free. Consider, there is a zero-tolerance rule for drinking and driving in all of Hungary. You might also call a cab, which is cheap and takes you wherever you like.
We recommend visiting the "Hortobágy" national park (app. 40 km) to see the real Hungarian great plain (HU=Puszta). The flat surroundings are unique in Europe, and the wild area's view is always worth visiting. There is also a possibility for hours ringing or riding a couch that takes you deep inside the plains -to the nowhere land. The feeling of vast dry flat areas might give you back a sense of freedom, just like on the ocean, but without the waves. Watch the sun as it really sets at the horizon as there is nothing in the way. Our you want to go east? You can be in downtown Oradea in 40 minutes. A shopping trip might be a good idea as Rumania only has 19% VAT.
I am the owner of the flat, and I would like to prove my hospitality! I will welcome you in person, grant access to the condo, and brief you on using the equipment. If any further questions arise during your stay, I am glad to stay in contact with you. On your demand, I help you to put together a complete program depending on your interests. I also can drive you to and from the airport or the train station. You are welcome to contact me at any given time. I would be honoured to help you make your stay most pleasant. Enjoy your visit to the fullest.
