This house has a screened-in porch, 57 ft. long, looking out over the marshes and a tidal creek with a view of Sapelo Island in the distance. Adjacent to the porch is a 16X18 ft. deck. Sit in our Hot Springs hot tub at night on that deck under a canopy of brilliant stars, undiminished by civilization's lights. There are five sets of french doors that open onto the porch on the southeast side. Open the front door and the french doors, and a gentle breeze blows through the whole house. Yet the whole house is quite private. Our house is adjacent, but away from your viewscape. Any other neighbors are barely visible.
The kitchen overlooks the great room, with a view of the marsh through three sets of French doors. The master bedroom suite is on one side of the house, with the other two bedrooms on the other side. Two bedrooms with king size beds have French doors that open up to the porch -- or sleep on the bed on the porch, if you like. An office and den and the dining room is on the northwest. They overlook an almost private 1.5 acre freshwater pond, that you can fish in (blue gills only) and is full of wildlife and exotic birds, which include roseate spoonbills, wood storks, black-crowned night herons, white ibis', great egrets and snowy egrets, little blue herons, tri-colored herons, green herons, hooded mergansers and pileated woodpeckers. A walking trail goes around the pond (with a detour around the one other house on the pond). Dolphins will occasionally forage in the tidal creek right next to the house. The third bedroom, with a queen bed, views the pond and a corner of the marsh. We also have an office (with a futon) that faces the lagoon. If you just want to hang out, we have a flat screen HDTV, Blu Ray player, Netflix and Amazon Prime instant stream movies, plus a good sound system.
Six people can sleep in the 3 bedrooms. Two additional people can sleep on the futon in the office. (note: we offer a maximum of eight people, and we charge an additional $5/night/person over four people.)
Two sit-on-top double kayaks and one canoe are on-site, making it easy to get on the tidal creek right from our property during a high tide. We also have eight bikes of various types sizes. For motor boats, there is a public launch for a fee (back-in trailer for free) a few miles away. Take your own boat out to Sapelo Island (within sight of the house) and its beautiful beaches, or take the $5 ferry from it's launch a mile away. Drive 25, min. to the Harris Neck Wildlife Reserve and see the finest bird rookeries on the Georgia Coast and probably the whole southeast Atlantic Coast.
