"This is probably the friendliest hotel I've ever stayed in, and I've travelled a good bit. Everyone from reception to dining room staff to just staff you pass in the halls were great to deal with. The location is fantastic, overlooking the harbour. It's also ideally located for walking, with Dunskey Castle ruins to the south, and Killantringan Lighthouse to the north, and dramatic coastal scenery in between. Restaurant service was good. "Our stay was in mid-March and the hotel was very quiet at that time. Our room on the ground floor was very convenient for the hotel pool which had a hot tub and sauna. The pool water was a bit too cold but the hot tub and sauna were very good. There are walking trails and a small lake nearby which is great for birdwatching. Also views of a ruined castle within walking distance. Restaurant food was nicely presented."

"The fact there was no elevator/lift made this stay impossible if we had not had our son in law with us. At 85 and 75 getting our luggage up those staircases would have been impossible. "
