Amazing place to stay.
This place was fantastic. We had a great stay. I wish we would of had a day of non site seeing to just relax there for a whole day and do nothing. It was cozy and roomy. Great outdoor area. The very upstairs room does get warm and the ac unit could be updated but we are looking forward to book this place again. It's also close everything.

Historic CCC cabin with all the amenities
This cabin experience of six days matched the wonderful reviews that I had read. Although off the beaten trail, GPS got us right there after dark. The kitchen was well stocked, the many bedrooms provided the privacy and quiet that our family of four adults and three children needed. The proximity to Crazy Horse, Custer, Mount Rushmore and Hill City allowed for the right balance of activities. Although we stayed during a heat wave in Rapid City (a one hour drive away), this site was appreciated for its much lower temperatures. The Skyview cabin has a remarkable history, and the historic photos inside provided context. WiFi, games and children’s books were appreciated. Despite its age, (90 years) the cabin was clean and the beautiful grounds allowed for safe play for the children. The hosts were excellent communicators! We would be happy to stay again in the future.

Peaceful
This former CCC cabin (updated of course) was a great place for our family. The surroundings were beautiful and with only a vehicle passing by rarely, it was peaceful. We heard and saw a variety of birds, deer, and rabbits. The parking area was a good sized for 2-3 vehicles. The firepit was nice to have - we used it several times - the wood was available and only asked for a donation. The beds were all comfortable in the 5 bedrooms - 6 queen or full beds. The kitchen, though on the small side, was well-stocked. The bathrooms were nicely remodeled. There is no TV, but wifi worked fine (we liked having no TV!). There really was nothing we lacked. We were within 20 minutes of Crazy Horse, 30 minutes of Mount Rushmore, 1 hour to Rapid City, and 15 minutes to Custer (the city). The week we were there was cool, so did not use the air conditioners. If you don't like gravel roads this may not be the place for you - the road in was a few miles of gravel road - seemed to be well maintained. It was well worth it in my opinion. Cell phone reception was not good at the cabin, but with the wifi, it worked just fine. Theresa was very helpful and easy to contact.

Wonderful property
This was our 50th anniversary celebration, and it can best be summed up by my 3 grandchildren - "Grandpa, I think we should rate this 5 stars - it has been the best day in my life" They repeated this each of the three days. The history was not lost on them either, as a good friend of ours told us that his grandfather had built that camp, so that made it extra special. Everything that we needed was found, so it is extremely well stocked!

Great stay in South Dakota
The Cabin was very nice inside and out. We had 3 boys ages 3,5, and 6 and they had plenty to do in the large yard. My favorite is its off the main drag so it is quite and not a lot of traffic.

Great family gathering
We had a multiple family group gathering at the Skyview cabin and were very happy with our stay. We stayed during a very hot weather week and loved the shade at the cabin. We enjoyed both the outside and inside space to gather together. The location of the cabin was ideal to be peacefully away from the touristy area, but close for a quick drive to what we wanted to visit.

Perfect Family Vacation
Very comfortable stay for the whole family. We had 9 total in our group, 3 separate family groups, the way the beds and bedrooms are laid out was perfect for our group. We were impressed at the cleanliness of the cabin and how well stocked it was. The cabin is conveniently located to all the things we wanted to see (Mt. Rushmore, 1880 Train, Needle Eye Highway, Bear County USA, Reptile Gardens) and was close to the local market for groceries and the best hamburger place we’ve ever eaten at. We loved watching the wildlife around the cabin, especially the cute baby bunnies! Even with two teenagers and one 10 year old, no one missed not having a TV, so peaceful to disconnect.

Family Fun
We had a great time, our children and their spouses, the 10 of us stayed in this cabin. We enjoyed it very much, we had 5 bedrooms so there was perfect amount of bedrooms. We cooked a big breakfast one morning which was a lot of fun. Enjoyed the quiet evenings with a fire in front yard, and watched the bunnies and the deer in the morning. Everybody did a load of laundry before we left, which help us, not having to load up dirty clothes as we traveled. The beds were comfortable, and everything was cleaned. Enjoyed the antiques in the cabin. Thank you for making our stay easy, comfortable and enjoyable.

The house is decorated with interesting regional and historical items, and has many cupboards and closets furnished with everything you might need for your comfort and entertainment. Peaceful and Away
We stayed here for a long weekend family getaway. Our family appreciated the rustic history of the cabin and the quiet setting away from all of the regular touristy hustle and bustle. Accommodations worked well for us as the family with small children had the upstairs bedroom suite to themselves and everyone else didn't have to worry too much about making noise to wake the kids. Kitchen was small but well stocked. Vic and Theresa were very kind and helpful.

Great place
This is a large cabin with plenty of room to spread out. Our group, that included 2 seniors, liked the option of several different bed choices with bathrooms near each. Everything was well stocked, including a washer and dryer for use, plenty of towels, blankets, and kitchen stuff. Absolutely loved all the bunnies in the yard to watch.
