The property is a beautifully renovated barn which adjoins the owner's big old stone farmhouse. The interior is well proportioned for multiple occupancy - we were two families with four children ranging from 7-14 and the accommodation was ample for those numbers. It is extremely well appointed with matching crockery, cutlery and a wealth of cooks' tools like blenders. Since one of our numbers is a keen cook, this was very welcome.
There is an issue - as previously noted - with the soundproofing from one of the twin rooms to the large double ensuite downstairs. We jiggled the children around to overcome this but if you have noise sensitive adults or light sleepers then they need to go upstairs.
The owner was very attentive during our stay and was on top of all the Covid 19 cleaning and sanitising precautions, which we were pleased to note. I believe this meant that the books, DVDs and games which are listed had been removed, so during the pandemic you may want to bring extras if you want entertainment.
A welcome pack of milk, eggs, bread and juice would have been welcome - especially for those, like us, who had had a 24 hour journey by car. With check in at 6pm it does mean that there is no time to go and find a supermarket and you will need to stock up before you arrive.
The pool is particularly lovely (and heated) and we made much use of this every day. It has beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. It is worth noting, as it is not particularly clear from the listing, that this is a shared facility with the owner and his grandchildren who used it when we weren't (even if we were still around the property) and this meant we didn't always feel as secluded and private as we would have liked.
We had a wonderful stay. Close to shops and only an hour's drive to Carcassonne. Thank you!
