A little piece of paradise

We were celebrating my Mom’s 90th BD with my siblings. Everything were perfect from beauty of the villa and its tasteful design to beauty of the nature surrounding it. The beds were comfortable, place was spotless and we had all the necessities available plus what you don’t expect to see in rental villa like welcome drinks and breakfast in fridge. You just need your clothes, everything else is provided. Sylvie and Antoine are perfect hosts. They went far and beyond to make us comfortable. I recommend to everyone who likes original and artistic designs and nature to rent this place. While you can see birds and iguanas around you, they don’t enter the place.

Absolutely gorgeous property

The place is even better than described and pictured in the listing. Antoine’s artwork is amazing! Antoine and Silvie were there to meet us when we got there, they were super helpful showing us around the place and had given us some basic supplies for the next day’s breakfast which was amazing. The villa is gorgeous, with amazing views and love the ability to kayak to pinel island whenever you’d like! What a lovely week we had, I can’t wait to book again!

Great Stay and Location

Wonderful property with great sunset views. The outside grill was great. We cooked steak and burgers. Outdoor deck and lighting created wonderful atmosphere at night. Hosts were great and very helpful. Close to beaches and many excellent restaurants. We used the Kayaks to go to Pinel Island. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Relaxation

Wonderful and relaxing villa with incredible views and lots of cozy spots to chill out and enjoy the ocean breezes. The pictures of the Villa do not do it Justice. The views of Pinel and the harbor are spectacular. Sylvie is very gracious and willing to share her extensive local k knowledge. This is the perfect Villa for a family vacation.

Hard to leave

The property was everything described and more. The bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped to prepare meals when we chose to dine in. The indoor/outdoor living areas brought island life to the forefront and along with a nice dipping pool, constant breezes, and beautiful views, made our stay memorable. Our hosts were friendly and attentive without being instrusive. We would definitely stay again!

A charming slice of paradise!

This is a unique and stunning property that makes the most of its proximity to the bay and views of nearby Pinel Island. We loved that the house is so open and the seating and bedding throughout were both stylish and comfortable. Antoine and Sylvia greeted us when we arrived and were gracious hosts throughout, offering on-point recommendations for restaurants and other sites. Overall, the house and neighborhood is quite French, and we truly felt like we had a luxurious French Caribbean holiday. We hope to return!

Amazing week in paradise

It’s hard to believe, but the view was even more stunning than it is in the pictures. Antoine and Sylvie were perfect hosts, very attentive and connected us with things to see and do on the island. The villa is a fascinating blend between a tree house and a yacht, open air and breathtaking. Plenty of room for our three teenagers to have their own space and close enough to civilization to get groceries and supplies for the beach. The whole experience was fantastic.

Amazing home with gorgeous views.

The Villa Blue Anchor is by far one of the most relaxing, beautiful homes I have ever had the privilege of staying in. The pictures do not do it justice! Gated residential area with easy access to everything the island of St Martin has to offer. Antoine and Sylvie have done a superb job at decorating the home and making it cozy but open and airy. We will go back!

A wonderful way to stay in French Cul de Sac

Our group had a wonderful time at Sylvie and Antoine's home in the beautiful north-eastern corner of Saint Martin. The property is very well appointed with all of the comforts of home and is only a short drive to a clean, bright and affordable grocery store. Pinel Island is only a fifteen minute kayak across a calm bay and has beautiful, sandy beaches. Or, if you'd rather a beach accessible by car, we spend a couple of days at Orient Bay Beach, only a ten minute drive down the eastern shore. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by both Sylvie and Antoine, shown around the property (which is gorgeous) and definitely felt as if they were easily available if we had any concerns. This is definitely a place we would book again if we return to the island. Thank you so much for a wonderful week!

Wonderful stay in Saint Martin!

We stayed with another couple - so four people total - for a week at this beautiful Saint Martin home. The house was well equipped with everything we needed, with a lovely pool and spectacular views. The house is open air in the main living areas, which does mean you may see some bugs or other little critters, but it did not bother us. The air conditioners in the bedrooms worked great and we were able to sleep very comfortably. Having kayaks accessible for the short (15min) paddle over to Pinel Island was one of our favorite things. We loved going over for lunch, looking out for turtles (we saw many in the harbor!) and just hanging out on the beach. Orient Bay and Grand Case are a short 5-10 min drive with great restaurants and beach clubs that we enjoyed. The hosts were very kind and responsive, providing us some breakfast items and cold beers (which were highly appreciated after the bumper to bumper traffic jam we waited in during rush hour from the airport!) Overall, we would stay here again and definitely recommend the home to others.

Paradise on earth

Our hosts Sylvie & Antoine let us know they would welcome us at the property and show us around (nice personable touch) We struggled a little to find the property due to a glitch on google maps so we contacted Sylvie who led us there in no time. Once at the property our jaws dropped. The house is simply gorgeous, has expansive patios with pool and the backdrop is spectacular. Waking up everyday with the view of a beautiful bay, peaceful sails anchored and Pinel island was just a dream come true! The house is well stocked and provides hotel quality linens and towels.There is an easy access to a small private beach area where the owners keep complimentary kayaks. The kayak ride to Pinel island is easy and fun. All and all we had an amazing week due to our hosts who were always available for our demands and the gorgeous place they own Thanks so much Sylvie and Antoine with the hope to see you again very soon!

best hosts ever!!

This villa is perfect for a family or group of friends. The location is great, near Super U grocery store and a great French Bakery. We ate dinner many nights in Grand Case, about 10 minutes away. Antoine and Sylvie could not be more gracious hosts! They were there and willing to help anytime we needed them and were always kind. Very interesting to talk with as well! The house has very comfortable beds, the bathrooms and shower have a great set up. The kitchen has just about anything you could want. We made many meals there and ate outside with the beautiful view. We spent many days just lounging on the many lounge areas reading, napping, and just hanging out with the family. Probably the most relaxing vacation ever! We did take the kayaks out to Pinel Island and it was a lot of fun! This time of year you'll want to use bug spray and the mosquito netting. If we ever return to St. Maartin, we would stay here for sure!

A wonderful week at Villa Ancre Bleu!

We had a superb 7 days at Ancre Bleu. Antoine and Sylvie greeted us upon our arrival and showed us all the wonderful features of their beautiful home. The breakfast supplies were also greatly appreciated to get us through until the next day. We spent a lot of time relaxing at Ancre Bleu, with our two boys really enjoying splashing about in the pool. Living virtually outdoors 24/7 was a real treat, especially after escaping a miserable Canadian winter. The location of Ancre Bleu makes accessing St Martin's beaches and towns easy. We highly recommend walking to Petites Cayes, which takes about 50 minutes but is a wonderful cliff walk with a glorious beach at the end. Wear good shoes though as the end of the walk sees some shingle to navigate. Sylvie and Antoine are gracious hosts and lovely people. Antoine visited a couple of times to say hello and make sure all was well, which was much appreciated. We will be back, for sure! Thanks again for your hospitality, Antoine and Sylvie!

Wonderful home with a perfect view!

We absolutely loved our stay - the home is outdoor island living at it's best. The covered outside deck area captures the breezes perfectly so you're never too hot. We "lived" outdoors - only coming inside to use the kitchen and to sleep. We just never tired of the view or the cozy comfort of the outdoor sofa/benches. The house is a beautiful and comfortable equipped with everything you might need in the kitchen and otherwise, including kayaks stored down by the water's edge. The wifi works great, as well. While only my husband and I visited, the house is plenty big enough for additional couples with enough outdoor covered seating as well as plenty of nice sun loungers and two covered outdoor dining tables. Antoine and Sylvie are perfect hosts and very, very responsive. We are planning on returning - just not sure if we intend to share this treasure or if we'll return alone! The tiny bananaquits and bullfinches who come looking to have their dish of sugar water refilled daily are just an added bonus to a beautiful spot in paradise

A Rare Gem

We can’t thank Sylvie and Antoine enough for their beautiful house rental, it was everything the pictures emulate. We loved everything from the picturesque views to the use of the kayacks. We traveled with another couple and our 2 children ages 15 and 11, the very spacious villa gave us all our own privacy and bathrooms. The villa is full of character and charming design. Sylvie and Antoine were wonderful to deal with, so accommodating and friendly. I have to admit I was a little relieved their English was incredibly better than my futile French. This was our 3rd trip to St. Martin and this villa was our favourite thus far. We have always enjoyed the French side of the island and our experience was so effortless thanks to Sylvie and Antoine. We really can’t express how lovely our entire stay was, it was a truly exquisite week. The views are just breathtaking......words can’t do it justice. I look forward to renting this villa again and can’t wait to come back! Thanks again for a memorable week. Thanks again Sylvie and Antoine.

The epitome of a cold weather island getaway in a casual but refined experience.

We knew we had made the right choice for our family vacation the second we arrived to see the stunning views of the bay and all the indoor and outdoor spaces to spread out or be together. Our hosts, Sylvie and Antoine could not have been more accommodating throughout our entire stay in their island home just a short kayak ride to Pinel Island. Before long we were sipping cocktails and planning ahead for what delicious dinners we would grill up with a view. Little birds would visit and dance around their sugar cube feeder which we replenished often. Cul-de-Sac’s location is ideal. Minutes to a very well stocked supermarket and bakery, a short ride to Grand Case and a hop to Orient Village restaurants and unique beach bars.. The outdoor and indoor lighting of the open-aired home was artful in and of itself. We spent our days lounging by the pool or exploring the beautiful beaches and colorful towns of St. Martin. All in all, our favorite times were spend right at the house or on Pinel Island where we had one of our most memorable meals. Thank you, Sylvie and Antoine for sharing your special home. It is clear that you painstakingly made each and every artful choice in decorating and accessorizing and it truly feels like a well-loved home. We hope to return again.

Perfect Caribbean Getaway

You will never experience a more perfect view & location! Everything is as photographed with picturesque ocean and Mountain View’s and a lovely infinity edge pool with iguanas and exotic birds making daily visits. The artistic touch made it so special and charming neighborhood finds (bakeries, coffee shops) with near by isolated beaches and the lovely Pinel Island experience. We have been to 8 Caribbean islands and this was our favorite home. The beaches are stunning, home owners are friendly and kind with my bad French, and accommodating in every way. You can’t find a more lovely property. While the breezes are spectacular and this open air property is so unique we might suggest one additional air unit in the main living area open kitchen space; our first few days were unusually hot with no breeze and as American travelers we are used to central air so that was a little warm for us personally (we understand that is personal taste only and many European and US travelers are not accustomed to central AC). Also there is the most lovely pool so that may have only been an issue for us initially because of the stress of travel and unusually hot temperatures for the area. We also understand island conservation. and coats of air units but just a suggestion. That said we would still stay here time and again if given the opportunity because it is the most spectacular view and special home. Thank you for your hospitality Sylvie & Antoine!

True taste of the caribbean life

If you only read the first line of a review know this: we are SO happy we chose Villa Blue Anchor!!! We scoured all the home rental sites and saw a huge array of places to stay. But there were very few places that offered anything other than the gaudy, tile filled 1980s-esq, ex pat mansion-feel. What our group, of 3 young couples traveling from all corners of the US, wanted was to feel comfortable as well as getting a feel for the island's culture. And this home did just that. The home is located on the French side, which is lower key and fun, without feeling anywhere near the cruise ship crowds or cruise ship focused restaurants/ shops. The proximity to Pinel and easy driving distance to a variety of other beaches, without having to deal with tons of traffic is a huge plus. And the house itself is incredible. It is located in a quiet gated community with friendly neighbors. So many walls are retractable, offering you the ability to be "outside" as much as you want. And with fairly constant 81 degree weather and ocean breezes, the only reason to close the shutters is if it rains. The kitchen is more than adequate if you want to cook a dinner. The bedrooms (beds, pillows, etc) are comfortable and the "common" areas are great for lounging, eating, napping, etc. The pool and pool deck, while not huge, were perfect for soaking and hanging out with the INCREDIBLE backdrop of ocean and Pinel views. And on top of all this, the owners, Antoine and Sylvie, were wonderful people making sure we had the best stay possible. This house was truly a gem. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else and we can't wait to return to Villa Blue Anchor, it was a highlight of our time in St Martin.

Perfect Family Vacation

Just returned from an amazing 2 week stay with our family of six (13, 11, 10, and 8 yrs). Antoine and Sylvie immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable in their beautiful home. The home has a great flow, is very comfortable, and has everything you need for a stress-free vacation! Sylvie even supplied some groceries to get us started! They were always available for any questions or concerns, had great recommendations, but were never intrusive. The home was very clean and a housekeeper came weekly for upkeep. The views and breezes are indescribable and I already deeply miss waking up to the view out of the master bedroom. The neighborhood is safe, we even felt comfortable enough to leave the kids and have some "date nights" in Grand Case. You can tell an artist (Antoine) designed and decorated the home - it is gorgeous but comfortable and welcoming at the same time. We used the gas grill several times and the Wi-Fi worked great. The island is recovering from Hurricane Irma. The restaurants are re-opening and we didn't have enough time to visit them all! You can't go wrong with any of the restaurants on Grand Case, but the family favorite was Le Tropicana in Marigot. Our family loved Pinel Island (we used the kayaks - thank you Antoine!), Orient Bay, and especially Mullet Bay Beach. Would also recommend Sunset Bar and Grille at Maho bay to watch the planes take off, Parrot Ville if you have children, Super U & Thiriet for groceries, and Villa Rouge for Pizza! We are so grateful to Antoine and Sylvie for sharing their home with us! We are all looking forward to visiting St. Martin again and when we do I hope we are able to stay again at L'Ancre Bleu. We have so many amazing family memories from this vacation. Thank you Antoine and Sylvie!!!!!

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful stay in Antoine and Silvie’s home. They were very gracious hosts and welcomed us and showed us around the home giving us valuable information on our stay. They were very accessible to answer questions during our stay. The rental was as pictured. We traveled with myself, my husband and 2 teenagers. Each of the kids had their own bedroom and bathroom which was appreciated with teenagers. The home was stocked with anything we needed while visiting except of course that we made a run to the grocery store for some meals when we arrived but they did graciously leave some starter grocery items for breakfast and some beers which was very helpful the first day after travel. The bay had some algae that had come in and blemished the area a bit and they were scraping the beach to remove which was noisy and a bit messy but you can’t control Mother Nature and we made the best of it and still kayaked across to Pinel Island which was enjoyable and beautiful. Even amidst the algae the views were enjoyed and we really appreciated the open air breeze through the home and our time outdoors. We eagerly opened up the house every morning to enjoy our coffee. We had never stayed on St Martin before. We rented a car and explored the island each day visiting a different beach or activity. The things we enjoyed most were the villa we stayed in, kayaking to Pinel Island, Mullet Bay Beach, sunset horseback riding and the Rainforest Zip Lining. We did find that more of the activities we preferred were on the Dutch side of the Island but appreciated that staying on the French side promoted opportunities to explore everywhere around the Island and we really enjoyed the villa and proximity to Pinel Island. We would definitely recommend this villa to anyone considering a stay on the French side of St. Martin and would love to stay again. Antoine and Silvie are very wonderful hosts and you will not be disappointed surely.

Fabulous Villa, Amazing Views, Delightful Owners!

Antoine and Sylvie have been emailing me to write a review....and I'm afraid to say that I have been slow to do so because, like previous folk have written, we are loathe to share the secret of L'ancre bleue!! This is, without doubt, the most wonderful villa, with the sweetest owners. The villa is incredibly tastefully and artistically appointed. The views are spectacular and the position on the hill also takes full advantage of the beautiful sea breezes - such refreshment compared with our Dallas suburban life! This was our second adventure to St. Martin with our two children (10 and 8), and this villa and the gracious hospitality of Antoine and Sylvie meant it was even more memorable than our first holiday. The villa is comfortable and very clean, with a housekeeper service once a week. Sylvie had thought of what we might need to tide us over in the kitchen and left out some activities for the children. Antoine discreetly checked in with us during the course of the week. The villa is in a fantastic location with easy access to local restaurants, popular and quieter beaches, delicious culinary experiences in Grand Case and supermarkets for home cooking. Our favourite places to eat Jam Rock, Villa Pizza, L'effet Mer and L'Auberge Gourmande, Oceans 82 and the food at Il Nettuno is tasty, whilst the décor is a little more 'authentic'. The children love Orient Bay as it is lively and there are waves, our favourites are the lesser visited Happy Bay, Le Galion, Friars Bay, Petit Cayes which is only accessible via a cliff top walk. We have never returned to the same villa for consecutive holidays, mainly because we like to explore new places. However, Sylvie and Antoine's villa is highly likely to make us change that tradition - we would love to return and stay again! Thank you so much, Antoine and Sylvie!
