Guest Access:
We have plenty of off-street parking for your vehicle, boats, or trailers.
We have a special parking area for boats and trailers. Please let us know if you will be bringing one so we may direct you to the parking area.
The Neighborhood:
Crystal River is best known as one of the few places in the world that vacationers may swim alongside the manatees in person during their winter refuge at Hunter Springs Park and Kings Bay. Hunter Springs Park features a sandy beach for swimmers, a kayak launch, a picnic area, plus a boardwalk for viewing manatees. Kings Bay also has a kayak launch, fishing pier, and three waterfront restaurants serving seafood, often fresh off the boat from the two waterfront fishing operations. Within a few blocks of these two iconic manatee hangouts are several incredible restaurants, cafes, and unique shopping venues on North Citrus Avenue. One of Professor Rousseau’s favorite places to shop and dine is Amy’s.
Another City close by is Dunnellon. For those of you that have decided to launch your boat and travel to the Withlacoochee and Rainbow Rivers, two notable restaurants are the Blue Gator Tiki Bar and Swampy’s. Leave early to grab your boat parking spot during busy seasons! Professor Rousseau’s favorite hometown place to eat is Citrus Grill on Pennsylvania Avenue. The menu has many tasty options, and you will love the owners. Tell Debbie hello for us!
Check out the menus for these restaurants and more in your Manatee Bay Home Book.
Getting Around:
If your idea of getting around includes a boat, kayak, or canoe, or if you enjoy fishing, you’ll love Professor Rousseau’s. Fish from our dock and utilize our fish cleaning station next to the shore. Launch your aquatic device from our private boat ramp or dock, and you’re on Lake Rousseau, a human-made 3,657-acre lake that offers incredible fishing opportunities. You'll find walleye, pike, smallmouth, and occasionally largemouth bass, year-round.
Safety first! The lake is full of submerged stumps that provide cover for fish. Keep in mind high-speed boating may be dangerous.
In your Manatee Bay book, you will find a map of the boat pathway to the Withlacoochee and Rainbow Rivers which feeds our beautiful lake with water. The Rainbow River begins with a headspring basin that produces between 400-600 million gallons of freshwater per day. This river provides us with a glimpse of rare habitats full of a wide variety of fish, wildlife, plants, and looking-glass clear waters. If you would like access to the Gulf of Mexico several public boat ramps are available including one that is only a few miles away from your front door.
