Our room was in the main hall but felt like it was the maid’ room originally. We had our dog with us so think this was a ‘dog room’. No. 3105 FYI. The main hall is glorious and the bar here is beautiful. Again though if you’re taking your dog in you are exiled to an anteroom which although grand feels cold and you have to go back into the bar to get anyone’s attention. The ‘brasserie’ is where your meals are served and you can sit in the bar area with your dog. You can dine there from the restaurant menu or the smaller lounge menu. We had great service there from Natalie.

It's deceiving as the the room I was in was out the back in the 'new part' - miles away from the reception, where they just said I had to follow the red carpet (which then involved two lifts and a long walk) whereas I had hoped to stay in the main old building. The air-con was noisy, as was the fan provided; the bathroom shower did not drain properly and flooded the bathroom on opening the shower door; the toilet did not flush properly; no plug sockets by the bed.

Please don't spend your money here.
The only reason I am able to give any stars to this is because of the staff. Very friendly. There was so many issues in this hotel that it's shocking they consider themselves to be luxurious. We were very excited to stay here, as the photos looked beautiful online. They had impressive Celiac/Gluten Free options on their website and it looked promising. We also had a dog and thought it would be great to stay here with him. On arrival, we were treated very kindly and friendly, explained about breakfast times, where the pool was, where our room was etc and it all seemed like we were off to a great start. The room at a glance looked beautiful, and the bed was comfortable and clean. Upon further inspection there was some horrors, I'll leave my photos attached to explain more. I don't expect 5 star experiences everywhere I go, but for the price of this stay it was extremely disappointing and I feel we would have had a better experience in the travel lodge down the road. The grounds of the hotel itself are beautiful, however the room we stayed in (4013) was grubby, and actually filthy. A steam clean and a good scrub along with some maintenance would go a long way here. The breakfast was absolutely terrible for myself being Celiac. I asked about what I could eat when arriving to breakfast, in the "green" time frame and it wasn't busy. They had no gluten free bread left. And the buffet had cross contamination, nothing was safe for me to eat. Please don't stay here.

Chicken Caesar Salad advertised with anchovies, there were none and the croutons were soggy. Left a very bad impression overall for £20…

If you are vegan never visit here
The menu on the website states rhere are 4 vegan options. This was not the case whatsoever. After spending almost 20 mins waiting to be checked in I eventually went for dinner in the bar. There were 2 vegan main options, both of them made vegan through the removal of items rarher than being stand along items. I had the soup and the pasta. The soup had the creme taken out and the pasta had the feta taken out...still the same price as the other versions. I asked if something could be added into the pasta so it wasnt just pasta and pesto sauce, it was made and there were the worlds smallest squares of vegan cheese added. As a venue that is so welcoming for dogs and letting them walk around the bar, its a shame they are so unwelcoming to every other animal or those who choose to not eat them. I dont expect the world to bend for me, but its 2024 and most places are able to at least throw a tin of pre cooled lentils in some pasta. In the morning I asked for some oat milk porridge, it was served to me smelling and tasting of vinegar and was in a side bowl, no bigger than 4 inches in diameter. It took so long to arrive i didnt have time to get anything else. Ive stayed in countless hotels in the most remote of areas and in diverse communities but for how this venue presnets itself I was so shocked with the food (even if you take the ethical element out and a pure health perspective) being so poor.
