Welcome to The Three Authors, a unique vacation rental encompassing three exquisite homes: The Mark Twain, The Hemingway, and The Fitzgerald. Nestled in the dunes of the 4-wheel drive area of the Outer Banks, this 46-bedroom oceanfront retreat is the perfect destination for weddings, family reunions, and corporate events. Spread over eleven acres of pristine oceanfront, these homes offer unparalleled luxury and comfort.
Accommodations: With a combined total of 46 bedrooms and 43 bathrooms across the three homes, we comfortably accommodate up to 102 guests. Each home features spacious living areas adorned with plush furnishings, multiple indoor lounges with TVs and a pool table, and cozy gas fireplaces that create the perfect ambiance for relaxation and entertainment. For added convenience, guests have access to well-stocked libraries and a variety of games and board games.

Each home features a spacious kitchen, a private swimming pool, game areas, and more. The Fitzgerald offers 14 bedrooms, The Hemingway also has 14 bedrooms, and The Mark Twain boasts 18 bedrooms. Whether you want separate spaces for the bride and groom's parties or for your guests, these homes provide ample room and privacy.
Modern Amenities: Stay connected with Gigabit Fiber Optic Internet, which is perfect for checking emails or streaming entertainment while enjoying the ocean views. The homes include multiple TVs, theatre rooms, pool tables, and other luxury amenities to ensure a comfortable and entertaining stay for all guests.
Beautiful Common Areas: Each home offers expansive decking with stunning views of the ocean and Currituck Sound. Enjoy the serene northern beaches, just 2.3 miles up the coast. Refund Policy: Please note that our reservation policy is strict. We generally do not provide refunds. However, if we can re-rent the property, we will refund the rental price minus a $3,000 service fee. This reservation is non-refundable, regardless of the booking channel’s policies. You can purchase insurance to protect your vacation investment.
Pet-Friendly: We welcome dogs (up to 3) with no additional fee or deposit required. Unfortunately, we do not allow cats.
Pool Information: The pools are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. For off-season pool requests, an additional fee of $650 per week per house applies. Please be aware that the pool may not heat properly in colder temperatures.
Getting to the house: Access: All-wheel drive vehicles or 4-wheel drive vehicles with a 7.5-inch clearance will bring you directly to the house. 2-Wheel Drive Vehicles: No worries! We have an offsite parking spot for you. Park your vehicle there and have your family/group bring you to the house. A tow from the sand costs $400 and consumes vacation time, so a 2WD vehicle is not recommended. We cover parking fees for up to 9 vehicles for week-long bookings. We have parking for about 20-25 cars at the property. Shuttle Service: If needed, we can provide you with reliable vendor contact information for a shuttle service to get to the house.
