Tranquil Escanaba River front cottage, newly renovated, great fishing!

Fishing for a great place to stay? You’ll love this vacation cottage on the Big Escanaba River, in Cornell Michigan. Terrific trout fishing right out the front door. The trophies on the walls of the cottage were all caught nearby, and the owner will leave instructions on how you can catch your own fish of a lifetime. It’s all here, from huge spring steel-head to fall king, Atlantic and humpback salmon, to lake-run brown and brook trout. All that can be found here, plus mountain biking, hiking, or just plain relaxing.
This has been our favorite get-a-way from the hustle and bustle for several years, and what attracted us most to this property was the woods in every direction (no neighbors in sight) and a classic trout stream out front. Our days were filled with relaxing on the beautiful deck overlooking the famous Escanaba river, and lulled by the tranquil evening sounds of the river.
The Cottage is newly renovated and equipped with modern appliances, all new bedding, and linens. Just beyond the kitchen is a spacious eating area where you can relax, unwind, enjoy a meal and create your best memories. After dinner retreat to the living room where you will find comfortable couches, chairs and hand picked stone fireplace. The Big Trout Cottage offers a master bedroom downstairs that sleeps 2, and a finished loft bedroom upstairs that sleeps 5. The cottage is conveniently equipped with Dish Cable TV, WiFi, and a land line.
So whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a family retreat to create memories for your children, or looking for that new fishing hole, the Big Trout Cottage has it all.

This property is so beautiful. Perfect getaway for rest and relaxation. Beautiful setting surrounded by nature. Trees, river, wildlife. I believe there are more deer and turkey in the area than people! Deer came.into the yard daily to snack on apples. The cottage itself is very clean, comfortable and accommodating. We had a fire every night

Stunning place!
House was perfect. Furnished beautifully, amenities all up to date and functioning. Location is truly stunning with incredible views of the river. The SOUND of the river was really remarkable. Very soothing and continuous. Outstanding trout fishing upstream and down from the house. Wading can be very tricky when the water is high, but when it’s low, this house is truly a fly fishers dream. We will be back!!

Beautiful retreat on the river
We loved staying here. It took some time to get there. (Be warned. Print out the map ahead of time. Your gps will go out on to e route.) the house was clean and had most everything we needed. It was a great retreat with my family! We would definitely stay there again!

We will be back.
We were amazed at the beauty. The cottage sits right on the edge of the river, just up a slight hill. The views from all areas are breathtaking. The river is shallow enough to walk in (we did wear water shoes). We watched the sun set every night while sitting next to a fire in the pit. I keep looking at my pictures in awe of this place.

I didn’t want to come back home. Listening to the constant river flow and nature was absolute peace. The cabin had more than everything I needed, very cozy and clean. Going into town was very interesting, a lot of history to learn. Make Rosie’s diner a must stop for breakfast or lunch. Bob and Nancy were fantastic, knowledgeable and great conversation. I hope to come back again. If you’re hesitant on booking, this is your sign to just book it.

Wilderness Retreat
This home is our go to spot for a wilderness retreat. Modern, solid, well equipped and situated on a beautiful river in a setting that is away from it all. The sounds of the river and wildlife really make you forget what you left behind. Throughout our travels to the home we have seen bear and deer. At the home we have had deer moving in and out of the yard as if we weren’t sitting out there. Eagles, the wolves in the distance at night, world class trout fishing and satellite tv! What more could you want?! I LOVE this place!

We loved our week at the cabin. We've rented many places through the years, and the owners all say they have "everything" for your stay. But these hosts deliver on that promise. There were plenty of towels, everything you need for cooking and grilling, and the cabin was very clean and comfortable. The owners are working on getting internet but we enjoyed our break from technology. The river view is beautiful and the sound is soothing. There is so much to do in the area but we also enjoyed just hanging out, reading and watching movies and wading in the river. We would love to come back. It was worth every penny.

Enjoyable waterfront home
We enjoyed our peaceful adventure despite the constant rain all week. Unfortunately the River flow was very elevated and did not allow for as much fishing as my husband hoped. He did find salmon running in other streams. We ventured everywhere and saw 36 waterfalls and hiked in the rain. Your home was a great base camp for us. I slept great- which is often not the case. Kitchen had what we needed. Verizon did not work, but AT&T did. Adding more lighting is the only suggestion we have for your lovely home. Thanks for allowing us to stay.

Beauty and serenity
We had some issues with our stay but they were largely out of anyone’s hands. The mosquitoes this year have been horrible and they were so bad we couldn’t even step outside as we were swarmed. They were coming down chimney in droves and we spent our nights killing mosquitoes non-stop. The owner and property manager were apologetic and offered to make it right. What more can you ask? The property is beautiful and the river is gorgeous. Tons of wildlife, secluded location and a well supplied house. Other than the mosquitoes we felt like we were staying with family. Very cozy. Thank you for working with us to make things right! We will be back 😃

Cabin was fantastic as seen on the web site. The View is absolutely spectacular and if lucky can see a variety of natures wildlife. i.e., Deer, Eagles, Duck etc. The owner is a vary gracious host and has a encyclopedia of knowledge of fly fishing which he is eager to share to make your vacation a memorable experience.
