Losee House History
The farmhouse house was originally built circa 1849 by a Dutch family with the surname of Losee (pronounced Lucy). Between 2018 and 2019, our family was able to completely remodel the home, working to preserve and reuse as many original features as possible. Wood floors were saved downstairs and partly upstairs, while furniture pieces (shelves, end tables, coffee table, bar table and TV console) were custom built from original floor joists, stair stringer and
interior framing that was salvaged during the remodel. The home’s original doors were re-purposed to form each headboard in the bedroom suites, as well as a coat rack of door knobs in the entry. Finally, a horse shoe found during excavation has been hung over the door to bring good luck.
We hope that you find our farmhouse has everything, and more, that you will need during your stay.
From our family to yours, welcome to Cooperstown.
