"Pat and Una Weir were attentive and gracious hosts. We arrived around 18:00(6:00 pm) after exploring the ancient New Grange/ Boyne Valley area. Even though Una was very busy welcoming diners she showed us the apartment straight away and explained how everything works. We had not made reservations for the evening meal and they were having to turn away customers Pat brought in another table and chairs. I had the best bowl of seafood chowder I've ever eaten followed by a perfectly cooked steak. Beth had their signature chicken stuffed with "

"Overall I had a fantastic stay again, room comfort was good, bed very comfortable with nice linen. The room was a little on the warm side - which I have to say I prefer to a cold room but I know some people do not like it. You can of course open the window if you are too warm. The bathroom was a little dated in places but clean. The Bar food also has to get a mention - daily menu had a very good selection and a welcome change from the usual hotel offerings of just fried food. The strawberry creme brulee is a must have. Overall a very good stay."

"We took an extended trip to Ireland and wanting to see multiple parts of the country opted to stay in the midlands. My husband found this listing on VRBO and we booked it. Best decision of the trip. This is a lovely home with a location that made it convenient to visit several other counties in the country. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was present, including some food items stocked upon our arrival which meant we didn’t have to go right out and shop. That wasn’t expected but much appreciated. The home has a washer/dryer and dishwasher. Several coffeemakers and a kettle. There is also a river where the name comes from to lull you to sleep at night. It took us no time at all to settle in. The homeowner maintained an outstanding level of communication and was quick with replys to help us with cultural confusion (we are American and needed some explanation for things like eir codes lol). I was sad to see our time in Mullingar end but if we return I wouldn’t hesitate to book Riven cottage. Not only is it a warm and welcoming property with a great owner but it’s within walking distance of downtown making shopping and days out convenient. I cannot recommend this listing enough."
