Looking for a place to stay within the confines of an urban area that feels like a country retreat? Briarwood Estate is all that and MUCH more. Nestled within a lovely residential neighborhood right off the beaten path, the Estate is easy to find. The lovely grove of old growth trees that surrounds the home gives you the impression that you are miles from the city, while you are in fact just a short walk or drive from restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, etc. Centrally located, it's right off of Stadium & Broadway; easy to get anywhere you need to go.
Both my companions & I remarked that we wished we could live there! The grounds are lovely and well-kept, with a large open porch in the front in the traditional Antebellum style. The back of the Estate features an enclosed porch to the side and an actual brick veranda to the rear with three separate seating areas. A beautiful pergola with voile curtains & old fashioned beautiful lights for night time strung from the open ceiling, offers additional seating & a lovely place to catch a summertime breeze.
The home itself is positively stunning. Having visited a multitude of Historical Properties over the past 24 years, I can safely say that Briarwood Estate is the pinacle of the group. From the moment you step into the sweeping foyer, you are met with a sense of comfort and ease. The Dining Room is spacious; plenty of seating and natural light beckons you to sit and enjoy. The Kitchen is first-rate. We found everything we needed to prepare a decadent meal, and options for coffee and tea in the morning. Laundry facilities were new and efficient, as were the Kitchen appliances. Plenty of restrooms for a group, or simply folks who prefer their own space for toilette.
A smaller front parlor off the foyer features a marble mantelpiece, seating, and excellent light for reading. A large gentleman's room at the rear of the home conjures images of cognac and conversation with it's large comfortable leather chairs, and dual original Walnut fireplaces.
The second floor is as well-appointed as the ground floor, with it's Suites and Bedrooms tastefully understated. Very comfortable beds, with high thread count linens in baths and bedrooms. Excellent lighting, plenty of space for clothing and suitcases. Everything in every space was positively immaculate.
I would not hesitate to rent this property again. Ed & Yang are gracious & caring hosts. I enjoyed my time at Briarwood Estate and look forward to returning.
