Cute house!
This property was cute. There were a couple of personal dislikes. First the bed squeaks horribly. Every time you get in and out, roll over etc. Thank goodness I remembered my ear plugs for both myself and my husband or we would not have had any sleep. The shower does not drain so by the end you are standing in dirty soapy water. Otherwise it was everything we needed for our stay.

Cub Cottage with Fantastic View
The view of Pike's Peak was fantastic - this tiny home was furnished with everything we needed - loved cooking on the gas stove - the weather could not have been better with cool nights & pleasant days. It was so cool, we even turned the furnace on for a little bit in the mornings. Would definitely stay there again.

Cub Cottage Stay in Woodland Park
The cottage has its own charm and vista above the valley , overlooking Pikes Peak. The kitchen and bathroom were adequate and well provided, including a washing machine and dryer. However, there were a few problems: the instructions provided by Va Casa as how to enter the property did not match the experience we had. The lock key system on the porch post was not the same as the lock key box on the front door frame. Repeated attempts to enter the code successfully only worked at the second lock key box at the door frame. Upon entering, the internal door curtain fell down and was not stable with a rod that was bent. Once settling within, the main bed was found to be very uncomfortable indeed and the dust beneath had not been cleared. The need for a comfortable sleep necessitated putting a mat down on the sun room floor to achieve sufficient comfort, alas. The cutlery drawer in the kitchen needed more cleaning, though there were sufficient cutlery items for guest needs. There were sweet touches in the bathroom, and the hot water and pressure in the shower were good. The biggest disappointment was that the parking out front was restricted by the second spot having been rented out to the next door neighbor, thereby disabling our great grandchildren entering the cub cottage to see where we were staying.. We would recommend replacing the main bed in the only bedroom, freeing up the parking, and replacing the entry rod and curtain. Thank you.

Ok place
While the cottage itself was nice, the shower and eating utensils were dirty, the bath rug tattered and dirty, and tub drained very slowly. The floor laminate was peeling and coming up in many places. The photo of the cabin was deceptive, because although the mountains are clearly in view, the cottage sits very close to many others and within a 100 feet or so from a major highway so it was a bit noisy. If the cabin was cleaned well and had a little TLC it would be much better. On a positive, the location to trails, stores and restaurants was great.

Needs Attention
Beautiful location but needs attention. Bed was awful, which has been mentioned in past reviews. Shower doesn’t drain well so you have to shower fast. Floor in kitchen is a trip hazard and needs repair. I hope the owner reads this review.

The main selling point for me as to renting the cub cottage was the view from the sunroom. Very spectacular look at Pike’s Peak!

Great spot with amazing view but could use a few upgrades
Great spot just could use new beds and an on demand hot water tank. 5 min shower after tossing and turning all night on one of the most uncomfortable beds I've had to sleep in was a little bit of a bummer. Luckily the view makes up for it somewhat

Good location, property needs attention!
Pros: great location, decorations are adorable, nice white linens provided, fully stocked kitchen, laundry, comfy bed. Cons: property needs attention. Light bulbs & batteries burned out. Wobbly toilet, grimy appliances, mold in shower along base, dusty decorations, fridge, stove & microwave filthy when we arrived, laundry in dryer, dishes in dishwasher (who wants to deal with that when arriving on a Friday after a day of traveling?). Outside area full of weeds. Water is shut off at different times by the city, television’s remote does not work correctly, only able to do limited streaming if you can get to the app with the universal remote. We selected this property for the location, it is great! We contacted management the first night about the condition of kitchen, they sent a very nice lady to come clean the next morning. She used wipes to clean the microwave & fridge. Could not get the burned mess clean on the stove. We ended up going to store for softscrub & got the top of stove looking like new. I could not look at it all week, let alone cook meals. The coffee pot had old coffee that needed to be scrubbed out, the top of fridge was a grimy mess. Cleaned that along with the items on top that were covered in dust. Basically every time we used anything in kitchen, we cleaned it first. I also wiped down the cabinet handles. The bathroom shower has mold along base, yet they want you to use the squeegee on the dirty doors?? We came back late one night & no water, called manager & was told would have maintenance contact me, waited until midnight, nothing. Woke up next day, no water. Contacted manager again, then learned that the night before was not a local manager (??) and the city of Colorado Springs will randomly turn off water. How come there is no info on that??? It happened two times while we were there…hard thing to plan for after a day of hiking & then leaving again early next day. The first person “manager” should have told me this so I did not wait until midnight!! Learning the details late the next morning. We have a rule of thumb when traveling for vacation…it must be nicer than our house or was it worth it?? The beautiful mountains of Colorado certainly are no comparison to the flat fields of Illinois!! The cute tiny home was a disappointment because it is not clean & is showing neglect. If you don’t have the same standards for this stuff then go for it!! We have stayed all over using VRBO and have not run into this before.

Fantastic Views
Overall, we enjoyed the cub cottage. It was just the right amount of space and tastefully decorated. Since it was a tiny home, we were surprised that the kitchen and laundry were full size. We really enjoyed the cottage and would definitely return. The only complaint we have is that there is only Neflix for TV. No local broadcasting to get news and weather or to watch TV shows in the evening. The shower drain has an issue. By the time you get out of the shower you are standing in 2" of water and it takes a long time for that to drain.

I would stay here again, but there are many things to take note of
There are many things about this property that should have been handled better or they should have given us a heads up on. Overall this is in a good location. We are going to come back next year and I will definitely shop around for places nearby to see if there is comparable pricing, but I would stay here again and just prepare a little differently knowing these things. The sunroom light doesn't work at all. Not ideal when you are checking in late or leaving early. We found a broken piece if it under the kitchen table and my husband tried to fix it but couldn't. The shower has about a ten minute max before the hot water completely runs out. They also have a big sign to squeegee the shower when you're done. That's fine, however the drain doesn't work properly in the shower so the shower fills up as you shower, leaving the edges where the water was as it drains pretty yucky. The toilet is extremely loose. I saw this in a review from years ago and they haven't fixed it. It also smells a little funny in the bathroom. The listing says there is Netflix and Hulu. Both my husband and I are fairly technically inclined, and neither if us could figure out a way to make it work. The TV in the bedroom has instructions for a DVD player, and no DVD player to be found. There are about 10-12 DVDs in the house. It rained one day and we have a four year old. So we felt the listing should have been a little clearer about that situation so we could have prepared better. The washer and dryer are extremely loud. Once again, not a huge deal, but if you are getting in late and need to do laundry, it would have been nice to have a heads up on that so we didn't start the laundry that night (the dryer makes a noise that is hard to sleep through). There is a typo in the directions, so we drove around for about 20 minutes before we figured it out. There wouldn't be enough blankets if someone was planning on sleeping on the pull out. It was really cold at night and we used every blanket in the bedroom. The code for the trash didn't work, so we ended up discarding of our trash in a nearby dumpster. I hope the property owner chooses to address some of these things, because the house itself is really cute and in a great location.

Great view, but…
Unable to access internet or watch TV, despite repeated efforts. Not enough hot water to wash and rinse your hair in the shower. The heater really is unusually noisy. The ceiling lights in enclosed porch didn’t work—possibly a short. Excellent view, quiet. Nicely decorated, clean. Just too many issues to make me want to return.

Perfect, quaint little cabin
This place was perfect for our needs. We were in town for about a week, and it was nice to have access to laundry, fridge, and other amenities. This place offers a gorgeous mountain view, and is near Pike's Peak, Cave of the Winds, Royal Gorge and other points of interest. It's also quite close to a Wahlgreens and a grocery store, so anything that we happened to need was close-by. Absolutely would stay again :)

Terrible experience
On arrival to the house we first noted the heat was not on and the house was 36 degrees inside. The heater had some difficulty kicking on and it took over an hour to get it into the 60’s. I called, messaged on VRBO and texted the number provided and NEVER heard back from the owner/property manager. The parking is terrible. One of the other small houses has their parking spot in front of this cabin. The linens, floors and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfortable, BUT there was dog food on the counter by the coffee maker and there were dust bunnies on the bedside tables. The main reason for the low rating was the complete disregard to return contact by the property managers.

Weekend getaway
Such a cute cozy cabin, perfect for a long weekend getaway. Unfortunately the washer was broken, but we did read reviews that the appliances were not reliable. The water heater is slow to heat and one person taking a shower uses all the hot water. Otherwise we absolutely loved staying here! The views were beautiful and we loved the location!
