Blu Shutter Beach House - Best location for a Vacation!

Lower spring and summer 2025 rates!! The Blu Shutter Beach House added a huge, beautiful , deck across the entire front of the house. With a beautiful new L shaped patio couch. This is going to be the place to make your happy memories with friends and family. New range with air fryer, microwave and refrigerator. Location, is this homes best feature. St. Joseph, located 8 miles down the actual street the house sits on, is a 10$ Uber ride to downtown St. Joe. With all its shops, restaurants, beaches and Harbor Shores Signature golf course. Ten minutes up the street is beautiful South Haven. If you continue 30 minutes north, Holland, with its world renown Tulip festival in May. Located right in the middle of several wineries, breweries and fruit farms. If lady luck is with you, take a short 12 mile ride to nearby Four Winds Casino in Hartford . The thrill seekers will love Michigan's Adventure, Michigan's largest amusement and outdoor water park. The house has 3 bedrooms and our bonus room sleeping 10 comfortably. Two bathrooms with an open floor plan and a large eat in kitchen. Both bathrooms are completely brand new. The down stairs bathroom has a walk in shower, for easy access. The upstairs with a whirlpool tub for relaxing after a busy day of shopping and having fun at the beach. Game room with family fun board games along with some adult fun ones too. Great place to spend your vacation.

Nice family getaway for the 4th!
We enjoyed our time at the house. It had a lot of the amenities we were looking for. The property is a short drive from South Haven and St.Joseph. The beach was a short walk and we got to see fireworks from the surrounding neighbors and while we were on the beach. Overall a great trip. :)

Perfect spot to relax!
We had a great time during our stay! Dianna was very responsive and helpful both ahead of time and during, and was great about communicating things we’d need (or want) to know ahead of time also! Everything was clean and the house was spacious. The house has great bones so sound didn’t carry into the bedrooms much at all, so we all got great rest! Our favorite feature was certainly the beach being merely paces across the street, right outside of our front door. It was a dreamy beach with the perfect proximity. Thanks again, Dianna! If ever we’re around again we will certainly stay with you. Thank you!

Great beach vacation
This property was conveniently located across the street from a nice beach that we enjoyed almost every day. It is close to Coloma which offered a nice movie theater and a nice restaurant. It is also close to wineries and breweries in the area. It was perfect for our stay with our Son and his family.

Spectacular stay
We had the luxury of being able to stay at this house for 3 days and each day was amazing. With a quick walk across the street is a beach, board games for the late nights, and a kitchen fully loaded with almost everything you need for cooking. Highly recommend to anyone because of the location and price.

The house was a perfect place to stay for the weekend. We were able to locate it quickly and it was a short distance to Baroda/St. Joseph wineries. The house was very clean, dishes provided, fire wood, and ample room for 6 adults. We will be back.

Wonderful Family Getaway
This property is very cozy and clean. We had everything we needed and were close to the hustle and bustle of silver beach and able to walk across the street to the park and watch the sunset over the lake. Absolutely beautiful setting. Diana was wonderful to work with! We will def be back!

Clean and comfortable in a great location!
We really enjoyed staying at this property and being able to walk across the street to the beach! This house is very clean and comfortable and perfect for a family with kids…ours enjoyed the DVD player in the bedroom. The whirlpool tub, water cooler, beach chairs, towels and toys were nice extras. Kitchen is well stocked. The owner is prompt in responding to messages and was very accommodating when we had to make a change to our reservation. A great place to stay!

Beach wedding weekend
The house was perfect for our needs. There were 9 of us sharing the house for a long weekend and it was had plenty of casual seating for us. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and condiments. Bring dishwasher packs though. The bathrooms are really nice, and the beds were comfy. There were a variety of games to play, and the offer to let us use the beach toys was very nice. There was plenty of wood for the fire pit, and the kindling and tinder were already sorted. Dianna responded very quickly to questions, and very kindly offered to send a souvenir that we had missed packing.

Perfect for us
Our family spends a week at Lake Michigan each year. This was our first year staying at the Blue Shutter beach house. We had 6 adults and one child. If you’re looking for a high end rental, this is not for you. If you’re looking for a cozy beach house, this one is great. The house is stocked with all of the kitchenware you need for meals. They provide enough toiletries, paper dilly, etc for a day or two. On site laundry is a plus. Plenty of board games for rainy days. The beach access right across the street at Hagar park is so nice. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch for coffee in the mornings and to escape the bugs in the evening. The owner was very accommodating in a few requests we had and made us feel welcomed. Overall, it was a great place to spend time with family and we would definitely rent again!

too many rules
charging us for cleaning and than telling us to clean is nuts, we had to strip our sheets and take them down stairs, take out the trash, buy products that should have been their, like garbage bags, grill did not work nor the was there a working lighter for the grill....The beds were comfortable. The water smelled like rotten eggs. and the stairs were scary. The owner kept telling me to go 2 miles down the road to buy the products that should have been there already. I would never stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay in the house very much! It was clean, and stocked with things you would not have imagined -- like toys for playing in the sand and chairs, board games -- little touches that just made our stay that much more pleasant. The owner Dianna is very nice and it was a real pleasure to stay at her house. Great location, just cross the street from the Hagar Park beach, 10 minutes from St. Joseph. We would definitely rent this house again! We had a wonderful time and would recommend this house to everyone. Thank you for letting us to stay at your house!!! Thank you for a great weekend!

The rental property was very quaint, spacious inside/outside, and was near all locations our family explored while in Michigan. The property owner is very responsive, helpful and super enjoyable to work with! The only hiccup which I know the owner has noted they worked on and wish we would have known in advance is the sewer (egg) smell from the water running. This never went away no matter where the water was running - kitchen sink, bathroom sink/shower, dishwasher and wash machine.

We decided on VRBO because of other visits it was easier. But this stay we got a lashing via text about what not to do before we even got there. The sulphur smell was overwhelming. There were notes everywhere. Just didn't feel comfortable. Plus we had to pay for three nights whether we were there or not. No lake view because of brush.

Blue shutter beach house family getaway
Pros: super clean property, stocked with all kitchen needs, room air conditioners, fans in every area, towels and bed sheets aplenty. Fire pit and gas grill for use of customers, great location across from public Lake Michigan beach, plenty of parking. Cons: property on a noisy road ( air conditioners covered the sound), furniture in living room area and washer/dryer were a bit past their prime, water smelled strongly of sulphur and filtered water dispenser for drinking ran out the second day (bottled water strongly encouraged for future guests). Be careful of uneven concrete in walkway by entrance door. All in all a clean but bit worn property.

We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your establishment. The owner was friendly, easily accessible and accommodating. They even provided games for us to play should the weather not cooperate for outside and/or beach time. The only thing I could really critique would be the property listing itself, which indicates there is a loft area. In all reality, the "loft area" is actually a small closet at the top of the stairs with no windows and a single mattress on the floor. This wasn't a problem for our group, as there were enough actual beds/bedrooms to accommodate our party, but I could see how this could possibly be a problem for future guests. Other than that, the place was as advertised, clean, and fun to stay in.

This is an old and foul smelling house. The sulfur and mold could only be rivaled by the bad and cheap remodeling. We booked 3 night and stayed 2 concerned about my kids health. Hindsight 20/20, i should have noticed the little signs with the reviews… The living room being split in 2 rooms, 1 smaller room inside of a bigger one and no access to the front porch. You cannot watch the tv as a group, as it is too far and not enough space. If you have breathing or sensitivities/allergies this is not for you. Do yourself a favor and book a hotel. It is cheaper and cleaner.

A great little home!
This house was perfect for our "girls' weekend" getaway. The location is right on a state road, so there's a little traffic, but not too much; it was easy to walk across to the park and beach, which are lovely. Comfy beds, LOADS of linens and towels, updated baths, and nice touches (personalized welcome sign, games for the kids, and she even left pumpkins and carving/painting supplies for our October stay! My granddaughters LOVED that!) There's no a/c or central heat, but the provided space heaters in the bedrooms kept it very comfortable, as did the baseboard heat downstairs. While the weather was too chilly for us to spend much time on the screened porch, I imagine that's a great place to hang out in warmer weather! Communication, check-in & out, supplies, cleanliness, charm, and comfort were all five star! And the location makes it SO easy to get to the nearby towns (We hit St. Joseph and South Haven, both charming and fun). Thanks for a lovely place to spend our Fall Break... ...and the blue shutters are beautiful! They make it so easy to find! :)

Great Access to the Beach
Great access to the beach with the park right across the main road from it. Was only about 15 minutes to get to both South Haven and St. Joseph. Had a great amount of space on the first level for us to hang out together. Beds were comfortable and clean. Nice porch to sit out on in the evenings. Overall nice property. Only have 3 issues to bring up. 1. It wasn’t really clear was none of the bedrooms were on the 1st floor for my 74 year old mother who uses a cane and the steps have a strange turn as you go up them. The layout of the property would be helpful to know for future elderly renters. 2. The water smelled like rotten eggs any time we turned it on, especially when taking a hot shower. Not sure if it’s well water or what. 3. Lastly, we left some food on the counter top and we’re assuming it was a mouse that nibbled at some of the food and left some droppings in the container the food was in. May want to set some traps out. Thanks for the time and the great communication with us during the checkin and checkout processes especially.
