Perfection!
Every expectation was exceeded. Alexia took amazing care of us from the buggy rental to scheduling the tours. We had three teenagers and they could not have been more content. It was our first time to Costa Rica but it wont be our last!

An unforgettable vacation
Our group had a fantastic time at the rental. The adults greatly appreciated the beautiful vista, the incredible green foliage while the kids thoroughly enjoyed the infinity pool. And thanks to Natalia, who helped arranging transport, giving tips on what to do and where to eat, we got to experience up Cost Rica up close and personal. It's truly a gorgeous country with the most gentle people we've come across. This is definitely not the last time for us to visit Costa Rica.

Somewhere between Glamping and a lux hotel!
We LOVED this elegant house, with its stunning views and ability to bring the outdoors inside. The rental team and house staff were very kind and helpful, and took good care of us. Given that we visited in the peak rainy season, we had a couple of technical challenges with the house (some minor leakage), but I am sure these will be addressed by the owner immediately and will not affect anyone else’s stay. The steep driveway was somewhat terrifying for us, as first-time ATV drivers, but indeed it IS possible to get up and down it with the ATVs (and nerves of steel). All-in-all, a VERY SPECIAL house in an off-the-beaten path part of town, secluded and teaming with wildlife, 5 minute walk to the best surfing beach. We loved it and will definitely look to come back to Casa Flotanta in the future.

An elevated experience!
Pictures simply can't capture the magic of Casa Flotanta. The beautiful staircase leads you to the entrance of the home and the moment you step in you're welcomed by the ocean breeze that fills the home, the sweet smell in the air, the rustling of the trees and sounds of the animals. You get the the feeling you're in the jungle but the ocean you nearly are on top of brings you back to reality. Sleeping open air with the most gigantic moon staring back at you is a great experience! The quick stroll down a quiet road leads you to the nicest beach in the area. Some of our favorite things about Casa Flotanta were the feel of the exotic wood floors beneath our feet, the leisurely naps under the home, waking with the sun, candlelit evenings under the stars, smiles from the locals and the feeling that all is right in the world. A fair warning, the view from this home will possibly cause you to ponder life and may make you want to pack it up and move there forever.

Floating in Paradise.
It was surreal to experience the breathtaking beauty and design of Casa Flotana. I cannot recall a time at which I was more excited to experience the accommodations part of a vacation - and the Floating House definitely lived up to expectations (and more!). Fortunately, words are unnecessary to describe as the photos clearly tell the story - but I must say, the perspective from inside and around the house is even better! We traveled with an extended family - our family of 5 with 3 kids (ages 5-9) and one set of grandparents. The house accommodated everyone well and was a super relaxed and enjoyable respite from the beach and our excursions. The home is perched above the forested canopy, so the driveway is steep! 4WD or ATV is mandatory. The local beach (Playa Hermosa) is close (about 5 minute walk) and pristine. It is also expansive and shockingly uncrowded. It almost felt like we had the beach all to ourselves! The kids loved the tidepools and always came back with something interesting. The ocean current is strong and riptides can occur - so we watched the kids closely (in their lifejackets). There are also two incredibly quaint yet deliciously decadent restaurants within walking distance for lunch and dinner. The kids loved TP8 and their brick oven pizzas while we enjoyed the expertly prepared fresh fish dishes. Coleur Cafe is a french restaurant that is also a must for breakfast, lunch and dinner (only open 2 nights weekly for dinner). We also went into Santa Teresa for dinners - all amazing! We went to Katana, Kojis, and El Name to name a few. The Bakery is also fantastic for breakfast. The people also make the experience at Casa Flotana extra-special. We are grateful for the concierge support that Natallia and Alexia provided throughout our journey. The experience would not have been as enjoyable - or seamless - for sure! They are the best in the business. We also are thankful for Monica who made the house spotless every morning! And we felt so safe with a lovingly thoughtful caretaker on site who truly did just that - he took great care of us! I can't recommend this house - or location - enough. We had such a wonderful and relaxing time. Staying in Santa Teresa may be more convenient to restaurants, but to be honest, we went for peaceful R&R - and we found in Playa Hermosa and the Floating House! Thanks so much Jez and family for sharing your amazing architectural wonder with us! It was an experience of a lifetime!

The best Costa Rican experience!
I don’t even know how to describe how unique and beautiful this magical treehouse in the jungle is. We’ve had the most amazing eight nights here! The beds were very comfortable and it was nice having AC in the rooms when you needed it. The kitchen was great and had pretty much everything that we needed. There is only one bathroom upstairs shared for the two main bedrooms and I will say it would’ve been nice to have a second one up there but I totally understand trying to keep everything simple and eco-friendly as possible. Being able to open the house up pretty much completely to the jungle wasan amazing experience. The house being set up and built in the trees makes it the perfect place to hang out with monkeys. The capuchins come through the surrounding jungle throughout the day and sometimes on the railing. The howlers are much more shy And kept their distance but we’re always right around us as well. We loved them all! Monica, the housekeeper is the sweetest. Cleaning the house daily and cooking us 2 delicious breakfasts. Marvin the groundskeeper and gatekeeper always greeted us with a smile, cleaned the pool every morning and was just always doing something to keep up the property. Agustina, the house manager and concierge was a godsend. She had quads delivered to the house, set up all our dinner reservations, surf lessons with Jesus, pedicure and helped with any and everything we needed beyond that. Jez, the owner was so great to work with and so understanding letting us move our trip with boarder closures and not being able to come the first 2 tries and always so kind. We went out for most dinners being that there are so many incredible options and we wanted to try them all, and every one of them was great! Make sure to take advantage of TP8. It’s only about a five minute walk from the house so it was really nice not to have to drive through town Since there are no paved roads and it can be a little rough Getting to where you need to go. Make sure you get breakfast at the bakery in town! We highly recommend renting quads. It’s easier to get around town with and there’s so many places to see that I don’t think we could’ve gotten to had we not had them. The drive from Santa Teresa to Montezuma was amazing and a must if you get quads. there is so much more to say about this incredible home but you’ll just have to come and experience it for yourself. It’s definitely unlike any other place we have been! Pura Vida!

First time in Costa Rica
My family of 4 (mom, dad, son 19 and daughter 17) just returned from 1 week vacation from Costa Rica. Stayed at Floating House and could not be happier with our stay. House is everything the listing says it is and even more - pictures of views do not do it justice. House: was clean and ready upon arrival, from the moment we woke up to the moment we were ready to go to sleep we enjoyed all the doors and windows open. We were a little concerned about mosquitos and heat in living area (all bedrooms have AC) but we found the area to be nice temperature and comfortable. Didn't see many mosquitos to worry about. When there was no breeze and got a little warm we would just turn on the floor fan provided and were comfortable. A couple of nights we were even a little cold in the bedrooms. Monika kept the house clean every day, she would come early in the morning and kept everything spotless. Most mornings if we slept in late we couldn't even hear her picking up and cleaning - she would even wait a little while for us to wake up to ask if we were ready for her to clean our bedrooms. Monika even did our laundry a few days for a very small added charge. Another thing with teens we were concerned with not having a TV in the house to watch movies - but happy to say the we didn't even miss not having a TV, most evenings after getting back from tours and activities we just enjoyed the house, the view, and bonded with our kids by laughing and talking about the days adventures. We also felt very safe since there is a security guard there in the evenings that makes sure we are ok. Concierge: Natalia & Alexia from Green Nest Estates were ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. They were available, friendly, informative and always courteous. They booked every one of our tours and we were hassle free through our trip. They even up fronted the deposits required on a couple of our trips so that we wouldn't have to bother with such details during our stay. One evening for some reason we didn't have water at all (apparently there was some type of unexpected leak that day) we contacted Natalia & Alexia and they got right on it. It was late in the evening (roughly 9:30 pm) and the water truck would be not be able to come until next morning. However Natalia managed to "persuade" water truck to come that night in order to make sure we were taken care of. Natalia even came that night to make sure we were ok. I couldn't ask for better concierge service.

Pure Magic!
I just concluded a wonderful month in the Kanopi House, and frankly I don't have the words to describe what a wonderful home this is. My family and I have rented homes throughout the world for many years and I have to say, this is our favorite by far! While the photos are accurate, they don't capture the magical feeling you get as you step through the front door. You feel as if you are in a tree house, surrounded by nature at every turn. Every late afternoon we would just hang out on the porch, and watch monkeys swinging around in trees! Every morning we woke to the sound of the waves. Wow. The house is new, so everything is clean and fresh. The kitchen is carefully stocked and there are actually 2 full bathrooms. The main bath is really cool-you can watch the jungle as you shower! The house has an open air design and sits above the tree tops, so it is always capturing the breeze. I never used the air conditioning once. I thought there might be bugs, but other than a solo cricket watching me shower on the occasional still night, there oddly were none. I don't have a single mosquito bite! The house is a very short walk to Playa Hermosa, which has to be one of the most beautiful and pristine beaches around. This area is quite close to the action of Santa Teresa so that you can hop over there on a whim, but the immediate area is quiet and significantly less touristy. I was here by myself for over two weeks, and always felt totally safe and comfortable. Finally the owners. Dahlia and her husband Jez are just the nicest and most interesting people you would ever want to meet. While every home we have rented comes with some kind of house manager, the professionalism and commitment that Dahlia shows to her guests goes well beyond what you would expect. Besides sourcing the best service providers for everything, Dahlia and Jez have really integrated themselves into the local community. If I asked Dahlia to arrange a restaurant recommendation, for example, we were warmly welcomed as her tenants and guests! As for negatives, the house has a steep driveway and then there are several steps up to the front door. So this wouldn't work that well for someone with certain physical disabilities. I imagine it might be a bit stressful for a family with toddlers, as the house is high up on stilts. Honestly, you cant go wrong here. The second day I arrived I found myself taking a nap-my first in fifteen years! That about sums up the experience for me!

Home was perfect. Well laid out and had everything you would need for a stay in Playa Hermosa. Easy walk to beach which is rare and nice to have that option. Pool is beautiful and the lounging area adjacent to the pool was cool in the height of the heat.

What a week
We loved our stay at Casa Flotanta! It was our third time staying in the Santa Teresa / Playa Hermosa and this was by far our favorite house yet. Easy access to Santa Teresa dining (need 4WD), quick walk to the beach, great home with relaxing indoor and outdoor space, comfortable beds with AC units, functional kitchen. Manuela was a great host, helped us settle in and arranged for activities and dinner reservations. She was always available via WhatsApp. Andreas and his family maintained the property all week, and Monica kept the house in order. We will be back!

Perfect vacation !!!
A group of 5 of us stayed at Casa Flotanta for my birthday week. The house was even better than photos, the views were breathtaking. The Playa is a couple of minutes walk down the road and is magic. Make sure to grab lunch at Couleur Cafe and a smoothie at Red’s. Santa Teresa is about a 10 minute drive away. You definitely need to have a 4x4 or ATV. Manu and Agustina were incredibly helpful, booking us a dinner reservations and the most amazing horseback ride through the jungle and beach. The outdoor bathrooms are so special as well. I highly recommend this gorgeous home ;)

Could use a bit of TLC
Really nicely designed home in a good location near entrance to Playa Hermosa. However, it really seemed like it needed some maintenance. The elements there are harsh, sun, rain, sand (and renters) and you could see it in the house. Metal beams, refrigerator, and speakers were rusty, wood needed to be sanded and stained, various items broken, including speakers and door latches. Lounge area downstairs was dirty and cushions were sun bleached. Pool was disgusting and not working, possibly as it is situated right beneath a tree that the capuchins hang out in on their way through, and so they drop a lot of debris in the water. We also were getting bitten by insects that were not mosquitoes and looked to us like bed bugs. All that said, the house is really nice and is a great example of award-winning design by architect Benjamin Garcia-Saxe. It’s just a shame that it isn’t maintained very well. We also stayed at Oceaneye, another Garcia-Saxe home down the road that was built around the same time, in 2013 or so, and the difference in upkeep was stark. Hopefully the owners have closed rentals for a while to give it the TLC it deserves.

Amazing!
What can I say. Words are not enough. Simply one of the most spectacular homes we’ve ever stayed in. And we’ve travelled far and wide and stayed in some amazing places. The home, the view, the sound of the surf, being up in the tree tops with the monkeys. You know when you have a massage and they play those relaxation tapes of rain forests and oceans? I think this is where they record those!! Agustini and Mani, our concierge were a god send. Especially because we cannot speak Spanish. They were invaluable to us before and during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Monica the housekeeper makes the home feel like new every day. The town of Santa Teresa was a golden find. The beach is amazing and walkable from the house. And the little town has every kind of restaurant you can imagine. We loved that ST was not full of tourists. Is very much an outposts for long term travelers, surfers and yogis. I hope it never changes. Top tips. Bring lots of cash as hardly anywhere takes a card. You’ll need a 4 wheel drive. The roads of shocking. Full of pot holes but that’s half the adventure. We highly recommend the Ario Horse Riding Tour and the Canopy Mal Pais zip lining. Also the road down through the Nicoya Peninsula was closed on our way back to the airport so we detoured and caught the ferry off the peninsula and up the other side. Leave plenty time for unexpected things like this. You won’t regret staying at the Floating House and Santa Teresa. It’ll be a vacation you’ll never forget.

Amazing house!
We feel so lucky to have spent a week in this phenomenal home. It is truly an architectural masterpiece and so very special. Wake up to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys as you look out at the beautiful ocean. Playa Hermosa is an amazing beach for surfing. It is v hot and very little shade so not really an all day hang kind of beach but perfect sand and surf for swimming too. Agustina, who manages the home, was a gracious and super helpful host. She arranged pretty much anything we needed and always directed us to great restaurants and activities . Monica, the house keeper was lovely and helpful too and made us a couple delicious breakfasts. My advice for your stay is bring tons of cash as almost everything is cash only and the ATM is on the complete opposite side of town and had no cash in it for the weekend . Agustina saved us with a cash loan! I had been to this area years prior and it has gotten so much more expensive. The beds are very comfortable and bedrooms are gorgeous. Be aware that the third bedroom (where our kids stayed) is downstairs and separate from the main house so we had to keep the main door unlocked and open all night in case they needed us. That wouldn’t have been an issue except we learned there are some security issues around the area so did make me a little nervous. We also waited too long to rent a truck and ended up with huge pickups which was ridiculous on the crazy inclined rubble driveway. They could use a bigger area to turn around at the top as it was always a little bit of a nailbiter to get down the driveway safely. ATVs are prob best. These few issues should not deter you as it was such an amazing week and well worth the few challenges. I highly recommend this home!

Spectacular house in beautiful location
Casa Flotante is a truly inspiring house with fantastic views , stylishly furnished and beautifully constructed from local woods in harmony with the environment and surrounded by wonderful flora and fauna . We had an amazing week with monkeys , coatis, iguanas , butterflies and a whole host of birdlife including many stunning hummingbirds stopping to feed on the abundant tropical flowers. One of the best surf beaches in the world is just 5 minutes walk with perfect sunsets every evening we were there, and lots of fantastic resturants are just a short stroll or drive away , although the house is so beautiful we didn't want to leave. Happily many of the restaurants will deliver ! Waking up every morning at sunrise with the house open to the stars and the sea view was truly unforgettable . Great memories !

Incredible place
Our stay at this amazing house was absolute perfection. To awake to a view of the ocean in the jungle and to spend a day watching monkeys and Iguanas in the trees and then to fall asleep in paradise. Would love to return. Absolutely loved the house, design, view, location and general vibe.

Loved living among the trees and monkeys for a week!
The Floating House was a magical place to stay for the week. Natallia met is upon arrival, had arranged for groceries to be delivered and handled the quad rental as well as all the other activities! The house sits high up and is open to nature! We had monkeys running through the house at one point and a visiting raccoon. The kids found it to be an adventure start to finish! The local Hermosa beach is awesome and there are a few restaurants just down the street - all great! We especially enjoyed TP8 for dinner and Couleur for lunch. We loved Santa Teresa! The fresh food and laid back vibe was just what we needed. Note of warning: if you will be 4 wheeling around, bring googles and a scarf for your nose, it gets dusty! (Which was the only drawback we found at all!)... we felt super safe with Roberto at the gate as well. The pool was perfect for relaxing afternoons before sunset surf lessons. We loved every minute!

Absoultely Amazing Family Vacation
The house and location were more stunning then the pictures can show. We were greeted by Howler and White Faced Monkeys and the house was immaculately prepared for our stay. The property manger was very accommodating, professional and helped with anything and everything you could ask for. They organized excellent adventures, private chef and suggestion of great local restraunts, ect. For us and our family we couldn't ask for a better location, close enough to Santa Teresa, but far enough that the beach wasn't busy and very relaxing. The short walk to the beach was great and the house setting provide a spectacular view of the ocean (amazing if you like surfing, you can quickly check the waves) and surrounding forest. We have traveled significantly and this is a must return for us, amazing place, people and food.

The house hovered high above us, and we walked up a sequence of beautiful concrete, stone, and wood steps to arrive in a space completely open to nature with incredible views of the ocean. We loved everything: The pulled apart private sleeping pods, the open air concept, the pool with a cozy deck for reading under the house, the use of bamboo, the short walk to the beach, and the daily visits from monkeys (of course!). It was definitely a privilege to stay in award-winning architecture in the middle of the jungle. The 6-yr-old traveling with us didn't want to leave! We will be back!

Perfect week in paradise!
We just got back from a fantastic week at the Floating House. There were 7 of us, all girls in our late 20s. We had the best time. The house was every bit what you see in the pictures. The views were so impressive. The house was very open and large so you really felt like you were in a tree house, surrounded by monkeys! Natalia, the house manager, took care of all details leading up to and during the trip. She was always accessible. Each morning we had a wonderful cleaning lady and at night security that made us feel safe. The roads are pretty bad, so we chose to return our car and rent ATVs instead to get around. It was fun and way quicker and more efficient! The beach is a short walk and even shorter ATV ride. It is so beautiful! We loved spending our days there. Thanks for a perfect week! We will definitely be back.
