4/10 Poor

Disliked: Staff & service
The torturous winding road and hairpin bends, make this hotel quite difficult to get to; it is also at the top of a very, very steep mountain, SO steep and narrow our car could not make it to the top. We had to get out and climb the next kilometre on foot, with our baggage, up a rough, unmade, rocky road; when we eventually arrived we faced another climb up two dozen steep steps to the door.
Upon arrival we were asked for payment; it then transpired that the electronic payment machine wasn't working, so Kumar (manager) insisted on sending us back into town to a local ATM! My daughter and husband were bundled into a tuk-tuk with two men and off they went; two HOURS later, in pitch darkness, they returned. Seems the two men had to go shopping for supplies to make our evening meal and breakfast!
Our rooms were clean and comfortable, but the shower has an open roof, the bathroom door had a 1" gap under it so we were plagued with mosquitoes. The hotel has been renovated to quite a high standard but the lack of certain amenities: kettle etc, fridge, air con, makes it very basic.
The evening meal and breakfast were disappointing, and here's a tip for Kumar: please don't stand over your guests watching every mouthful, it makes them uncomfortable! Also, don't keep asking for "Really good review".
I couldn't recommend this hotel, partly because of that dreadful climb, but mainly because of the unreasonable demand for payment as soon as we arrived.
