Outdoor Living: furnished front and back decks.

Security system is located on front deck and back deck for property and guest security, required by our current property insurance provider. Absolutely NO camera devices are inside cabin. First aid kit in kitchen cabinet, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors also in cabin. No smoking in or on property, no deep fryers or fire pits, bc of fire spark danger. We are in national forest. We are on the mountain side close to The Lodge; in fact, you can walk to end of one street and see the golf course with lots of resident elks! A beautiful, scenic drive takes you to Alamogordo and White Sands. Drive through the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation to Ruidosa for more fun. Hiking trail info is in cabin. Go to Cloudcroft Chamber of Commerce for a list of all activities and festivals.

You must be 23 to secure a reservation.

All payments are handled through VRBO only.

No smoking in cabin or on property, no pets.

Parking is directly in front of cabin, the length of cabin only. We can accommodate 2 cars parallel parked. Please do not block the short driveway, as neighbor must be able to drive through. The long driveway to right, facing cabin, is private property and cannot be used.

Mountain Getaway
The cabin was awesome. Very clean and maintained. The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and dishes and the beds were extremely comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Family getaway in the mountains
The property was wonderful. The kids loved the decor and the bedroom with their own bathroom. Loved the deer hanging around the yard in the late afternoon. Great location, quiet and very friendly people.

Very nice getaway. My wife and I were refreshed by the experience. Very neat and comfortable cabin. Saw lots of bird, mule deer and elk. Had a nice time. Just what we needed.

Cool getaway in Cloudcroft
Spent the weekend in this cozy cabin. Clean with everything we needed including a new grill. Great location close to town. Added bonus of elk walking through the front yard daily. Would definitely book again.

The Keurig coffee maker not working, and no one coming to check on it was disappointing. The other coffee maker did not make good coffee at all. We missed having coffee on the deck in the mornings.

Phenomenal Thanksgiving
My young family and I stayed at Jana's place for Thanksgiving this year, and we had the perfect time. All the amenities were more that conducive to make a great feast, the home was super cozy, the surrounding area was beautiful, and the unit is so close to the main strip of Cloudcroft, so it was very easy to make runs to the store. Jana is an excellent host who was super responsive even on a holiday and overall so welcoming. We'll definitely be looking for this booking next time we plan to visit Cloudcroft.

Quick Getaway
The cabin was perfect for the two of us. We sat on the front deck the first evening and watched a few deer across the road. The property owner had told us about a few locations to go to for good wildlife viewing and some other great local restaurants. Overall, I would recommend staying here and next time we head to Cloudcroft we will definitely be staying here. 10 stars!

Cute cabin
This a clean, well organized, nicely decorated cabin. Quiet area. Located just a few blocks from town. Picture of cabin is a little deceiving as there are now cabins on both sides and behind. The whole area could use some cleaning up on the outside. We only used the king bed and it was comfortable. Plenty of hot water. All in all a nice place.

Things I wish I had known: There was a lot traffic in front of the cabin and other cabins are extremely close on the sides and in the back. **We like to spend time outside. If you don’t mind those things, this is a nice place to stay. The CABIN itself was GREAT and we had DEER, ELK and wild HORSES visit. It’s close to restaurants and shopping. We really enjoyed our stay despite the traffic and dust from it. Neighbors weren’t an issue either.

A Great Mountain Getaway
We visited Cloudcroft about 10 years ago, but didn’t get to stay. We always said we’d like to come back and spend some time. One of our criteria in choosing a place to stay was somewhere that had a mountain cabin atmosphere, and the Dancing Artist cabin certainly fulfilled that need. It’s nicely decorated and furnished with rustic Mexican and Native American decor. There are lots of little touches to make you feel comfortable and at home. We settled in quickly and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was really nice to have a kitchen and washer/dryer at our disposal, as it made packing for our trip much easier. The cabin is conveniently located in Cloudcroft, and it’s just minutes to any of the amenities in town. The host was exceptionally responsive, and check-in/check-out was super easy. We’d certainly stay here again!

From beginning to end, our experience was exceptional. Communication is so important and Jana did such a fabulous job with her quick responses to our questions. Base camp for hiking in Lincoln National Forest
My family - two adults and one child - stayed in Jana’s cabin for four nights as part of a ten-night trip through New Mexico. We were glad to be away from the Texas heat, surrounded by the towering trees of Lincoln National Forest. We didn’t need any air conditioning inside the house. The house had all the cooking supplies we needed, including a clean gas grill outside. My biggest complaint would be that signs in the house instructed us to put soiled toilet paper in the trash, instead of flushing it down the toilet. This was our first time in Cloudcroft, so I’m not sure how common this practice is for houses in the area. We were not expecting this. Jana was friendly and communicated clearly, which we appreciated. Our child loved playing with the fairy houses outside the cabin and the board games inside.

Anniversary Trip
