Whether looking for a couple's retreat, a weekend with friends, or a family getaway to build sand castles and driftwood forts, the Kingfisher Beach House is the perfect combination of architectural and natural beauty. Nestled peacefully toward the end of a forgotten beach road, this home brings the Olympic Mountains and Admiralty Inlet into every moment of your vacation.
The 'Kingfisher' is so close to the beach that we built it on stilts and, from almost every angle of this angular home, you are greeted by water. At night, you will fall asleep to the chuckle of churning waves, and in the morning your eyes will open to soft light painted on the snow-capped Olympic Mountains. Once inside, you are surrounded by craftsmanship at its very best. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and baking, and the open floor plan allows you to be part of the action while you create. The main house has three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, a walk through closet for stowing your stowables, and a spacious walk-in shower to refresh you after your day of fun. Downstairs are two more bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and the other with two twin-size beds. The main level shower was designed after a Japanese shower room - large enough for multiples, with a deep soaking tub and showering area all in this same room. Feel free to let your kids splash until their splashers are tired, as this entire room was designed to get wet. This home was just completed and is now ready for you and your friends and family to relax at the beach.

While staying at the Kingfisher, you will experience this wonderful beach location with the comfort and privacy rarely experienced on beach property. Walk 200 yards south down the beach and you will be exploring over a mile of undeveloped, protected beach and tidelands. On any given walk, you and your friends and family will be sharing this space with kingfishers, eagles, osprey, seals, otters, and all of the tide-pool critters that live in the shallows of the Puget Sound. Keep your eyes on the water while you are cooking dinner or sitting on the deck and you might also see the porpoises patrol the beach. Please note that during the salmon run you can put on your hip-waders, secure a buzz bomb to your favorite pole, and cast with abandon. It is a well-kept, local secret that this beach yields some of the best salmon fishing on the island. If you have kayaks, bring them along, for a quick shove off from your beach will have you exploring some of the most beautiful coastline on South Whidbey.

The house has WiFi and smart TV, and is the perfect place to sit by the fire and watch the game. The deck has Adirondack chairs to lounge in and a propane grill at the ready so that you can feed the loungers.

I guess the big rule for the house is to have fun - lots of it! My main, humble asking is that you treat our family home with respect. We love this place! The home was built so that your family and mine can enjoy the beach for years to come.

Fantastic Getaway

We wanted a short family getaway before the holidays. The Kingfisher Beach House was perfect. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make meals at home. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms made us feel like we were staying at a spa. We will be back for another visit in the future.

Absolutely Fabulous!

We stayed at Andy and Maggie’s beautiful beachfront home with our two teen sons. This is one of our favorite rentals ever! The views are fantastic, the house is so well designed and perfectly set up for a vacation stay. The communication was excellent, and we appreciated alll of Andy’s recommendations and tips.The property is exactly as advertised. No “trick” photography. Every element was true to the listing and exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was well stocked, and easy to cook in. We played games every night, and everyone appreciated the comfortable beds and spa-like bathrooms. Whidbey Island made for a great family get-a-way and we hope to be back.

A great holiday weekend with the family

My three adult children and I had a great weekend. The house is comfortable and beautiful, and the views are amazing. Waking to the sound of the surf started every morning beautifully. The house was clean, and we had everything we needed to make most of our meals here.

Wonderful escape

What a great getaway house! It is well-appointed, and the kitchen has everything we need. It was great to be able to charge our vehicle at the house. The beach was amazing for long walks, and terrific mountain biking was close by. The house is exactly as presented in the VRBO description, and the owner was easily accessible. We will be back.

Great getaway

We loved our stay at this wonderful beach house. The view was amazing, sunsets were incredible. It was nice to have meals on the deck. Kids found tons of shells on the beach and spent a lot of time exploring. Kids rooms were great and books and games in the house were a nice touch. Andrew answered any of my questions promptly. We definitely hope to be back in the future and will recommend this house.

Another amazing stay!!

This is our second visit to the house and it was as fabulous as we remembered it! The design, architecture and furnishings of the home are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! And better yet, the kitchen is fully stocked with quality items-- perfect for cooking amazing feasts! The location right on the beach is stellar. We were there for a major storm and it was beautiful to hunker down and watch the weather blow. Access to Langley, Freeland and other amenities, and the short drive to Clinton Ferry all make this the perfect place to get away to! I can't recommend it highly enough.

The Perfect Weekend Getaway

We had an incredible stay at this property - it was exactly as listed and absolutely perfect for celebrating our anniversary. A Truly Memorable Stay-Thank You Andy, Maggie and Family!

A beautiful and stylish home, truly is a slice of happiness. A hidden gem, nestled perfectly in nature with stunning views of the shoreline and mountains. The location is idyllic, offering lovely peaceful walks along the beach and an abundance of wildlife, making every moment special. Nicely located for exploring the island and easily accessible to Seattle and mainland by nearby ferry. The house itself is beyond wonderful – so blessed to have spent time in this beautifully designed and spacious house, filled with a thoughtful blend of cultural influences. Thorough attention to detail infused into the interior decor and outside area. Kitchen was extremely well-stocked, delightful bedroom balcony and high end bathrooms. Starting each day with spectacular, breathtaking views and the soothing sound of the waves was a privilege. And we’ll never forget the incredible sunsets – a true highlight. We had the pleasure of meeting Andy and his lovely family, they were so helpful, welcoming and friendly. Their warm hospitality and thoughtful welcome gift, featuring local items made us feel truly at home. Andy and Maggie went above and beyond as hosts. This stay has been a perfect way to make lasting memories with our family. We truly had the best time and it surpassed our already very high expectations, we were all so overjoyed when we arrived. It is by far our favourite ever place to stay. Looking forward to when we can return. Highly recommend the Kingfisher Beach House, it’s amazing.

We reached out to talk with Andy about using this home for our small ceremony. He was such a great help in getting to know the island more for options for this. We had such a lovely time and highly recommend this place! The home is beautiful and the beach is right there to enjoy! We got to see lots of animals. This was so peaceful and relaxing. Talked to host once, he was in Germany and still called me back. I Never needed him after that.

House has pretty much everything you could need. Coffee grinder... some food, some condiments... every kinda pan and cooking utensil. Bathrooms are pretty nice. w/d works well enough. If it's not clear this is The Kingfisher House... there are t-shirts in every size and color in case you want to take one home. We were 2 couples, master bedroom was nice, huge closet and bathroom... but my partner and I decided to take the Queen bed downstairs... that bathroom is also awesome. The house does have a Sonos speaker--which is awesome-- but it is ancient and you will have to work to get it connected. Beach was sick. Riding the ferry is sick. Washington is an incredible place.

Great Getaway

Lovely location, house, and owner. We came up on a stormy weekend and no worries when the power went out as they have an automatic transfer to generator. Great location to kick back and relax. Looking forward to coming back in a warmer month.

Stunning views, comfortable space

Our family had a memorable time at Kingfisher beach house. We all agreed the best part was being right on the beach. We took way too many pictures of the gorgeous views. The kitchen was well stocked and there were plenty of towels and other necessities. Andy was very responsive and made it easy to rent. I would recommend this property.
