Welcome to our home from home, The Great Escape, a fabulous self-catering holiday home. The Great Escape is a beautifully appointed luxury front row lodge with superb views over Avon Beach and the bay to the Isle of Wight and the Needles, so why not escape?
There is a feeling of space and tranquillity when you enter the lodge which offers: -
A comfortable sitting room with flat screen television, unlimited Wi-Fi and an extending dining table which can seat up to six if you have guests.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, full size dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, gas hob, double oven, iron and ironing board.
The Great Escape has two bedrooms; the master bedroom has a king-size bed and flat screen television and there is a dressing room with a triple wardrobe, a dressing table with a mirror and stool leading to the ensuite shower room.
Bedroom two has twin beds and a single wardrobe and there is a family shower room.
We have created a hallway for our dog at night, which has a dog gate and non slip flooring; somewhere to keep your damp pooch whilst he/she is drying out. We do have a doggy hairdryer for use outside only.
Bifold doors lead to the large deck with dining table and chairs, together with two large relaxing recliners, footstools and an occasional table.
There is full use of the facilities at Sandhills Holiday Park. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool, paddling pool and sun terrace. In the historic clubhouse there is a bar and lounge with Sky TV for you to enjoy, together with a small gym. In the grounds there is a children's play area and laundry. There are electric car charger points in the main car park.
Sandhills is superbly located between Avon Beach and Mudeford Quay with just the promenade separating The Great Escape from the beach which is (at the front of the property) dog friendly throughout the year. Mudeford Quay is a working quay, with the fishing boats coming in to supply the various restaurants in the area, as well as a marvellous fish stall; there is also a cafe; (great for breakfast) and the Haven House Inn for an excellent pint. Of course, there is the ever popular crabbing for the children and families; buckets and nets, together with bait, can be purchased from the quay shop if required. Mudeford lifeboat station, which launches on a weekly basis for training, is also on the Quay.
A ferry runs from the Quay to Mudeford sand spit where you can walk to Hengistbury Head and see protected wildlife, geological formations and spectacular scenery amongst other attractions.
In the other direction is Avon Beach with the renowned Noisy Lobster restaurant, coffee shop and fish hatch, which serves delicious fish and chips and where you can even have a lobster takeaway for those special occasions. There is also a deli/bakery to get your fresh bread in the morning and souvenirs. Slightly further along are saunas available for rent for those who want to warm up after a chilly dip in the sea. Highcliffe castle is just along the coast with an adjacent nature reserve.
Christchurch town centre is nearby, which has a Monday market along the High Street, accessible either by ferry from Mudeford Quay (at certain times of the year) or by car. The spectacular Priory is open for visitors and is steeped in history including the ‘miraculous' beam, said to be placed by Christ himself. There is the Regent Centre for shows/cinema and The Red House Museum, which explores the story of Christchurch from the ice age to modern times.
Inland is the New Forest with the renowned ponies and donkeys and wonderful walks.
