Banbury Hill Farmhouse, Charlbury - sleeps 14 guests in 7 bedrooms

A short distance outside Charlbury, Banbury Hill Farmhouse is set among similar farm buildings alongside the lovely Cotswold View Caravan & Camping Park. With its own gravelled drive and parking area, the cottage sits at one side of the lawned garden and patio. A number of walking routes lead from the cottage and it is an easy distance from Chipping Norton and other charming villages.

The farmhouse has been beautifully decorated throughout with all the features you would expect in a relaxing home from home. A well-equipped kitchen provides space for children to eat in the adjoining breakfast bar area and the stunning dining room with open stonework is a wonderful space for the whole group to spend time together. A sitting room with a woodburner and sink-in sofas give room to relax and put your feet up at the end of the day. The central foyer and grand staircase take you to the first and second floors with seven bedrooms, many with unique en-suites. There will be no fighting over the best room as each is equally stylish.

Patio doors open from the dining room to the paved patio looking out over the Cotswold hills and rolling farmland. The garden has a lawned area and is fenced with gated access allowing the children to play safely. You can dine outside on fine evenings and light the firepit to keep the cold at bay. Beyond the garden, well-signed trails take you around the surrounding farmland where you can find sheep and donkeys.

Ground Floor

Entrance Hall:
Entering the farmhouse, you are first met by an American style fridge-freezer, a Belfast sink and a dishwasher in the entrance hall. A hamper filled with your breakfast favourites will be waiting for you outside the back door every day you wake up, carefully chosen from local suppliers like Bampton Butchers, Mayfield Eggs, and Marks Bakery.

Kitchen:
The kitchen has been beautifully decorated in fresh white and grey and is fitted with all the modern conveniences you would expect. After your long journey, you will be welcomed by a homemade cake that will be waiting for you on the kitchen island. The electric AGA is ideal for cooking up delicious meals for the entire family and the central island ensures there is enough counter space for preparing vegetables. A second dishwasher and fridge/freezer means nobody will be stuck doing the washing up and reduces the need for trips to the supermarket, giving you more time to spend together. The kitchen leads into a breakfast bar area which seats four, great for the children in the morning. You will also find a TV, wine fridge, and a host of games stored here.

Utility Room/Boot Room:
From the kitchen, you can step through into the handy boot room which provides the perfect space for storing walking boots, jackets and backpacks. Here you will also find the utility room which is equipped with a washing machine, dryer and sink.

Foyer:
The kitchen then leads you into the foyer at the centre of the house. A grand staircase takes you up to the floors above and the modern cast iron chandelier will catch your eye. A large mirror, dresser and armchair make this a nice area to sit and wait for the rest of the family to be ready for the day's adventure. From the foyer there is a WC and a door which opens to the patio, lawn and beyond.

Dining Room:
This stunning dining room creates a beautiful backdrop to family celebrations. Seating 14 you can gather around the large wooden table and serve delicious homecooked meals, enjoy a glass of champagne and spend the evening reminiscing and telling stories. The blue walls are lined with historic photos of the farm while parts of the stonework has been left open as a nod to this building's past. In the corner is what was once Charlbury Quarry reception desk, now restored and acting as a bar area to serve cocktails from. Patio doors open to the garden where you can enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside and hills.

Living Room:
The comfortable and quiet living room is a cosy spot to gather in front of the woodburner with a book or enjoy a film on the large wall mounted TV. Softly lit by ceiling and table lights you can unwind on the velvet sofas which seat 7 or perch on the window seat enjoying the view of the duck pond, livestock, and hills beyond.

First Floor

Up the central staircase you reach the first floor landing with large paintings overlooking the foyer below.

Bedroom One:
This first king-size double to the right of the stairs has been decorated in white and overlooks the duck pond and garden. Plump bedding and sumptuous blankets ensure a good night's sleep and you can relax on the chaise longue with a morning cup of coffee. A bedside table with lamps on each side of the bed, chest of drawers, and an open hanging rail provide storage.

En-Suite:
The spacious en-suite has bohemian style tiles and stylish twin bowl sinks. A walk-in shower with rainfall head, WC, heated towel rail and large lit mirrors complete this en-suite.

Bathroom:
This family bathroom features a bath with rainfall shower above, WC, heated towel rail and sink unit. It has the only bath on this floor and is ideal for guests staying in the twin bedroom.

Bedroom Two:
Making a clever use of the space, this compact king-size double room has a sliding door hiding either the storage cupboard or the en-suite. This room looks out to other farm buildings and the old stables. There is a bedside table with lamps to each side of the bed and a mirror.

En-Suite:
Behind the sliding door is an en-suite shower room with walk in shower with rainfall head, WC, small sink and heated towel rail.

Bedroom Three:
A great room for younger members of the family, this twin room has a chest of drawers with lamp between the beds, a full-length mirror and a footstool.

Bedroom Four:
The final room on this floor is a lovely king-size double with built-in hanging rails and dressing table with chair. Looking out to the fields and hills beyond it is a relaxing room where you can get away from it all. Two bedside tables with lamps and a chest of drawers offer lots of storage options.

En-Suite:
This bedroom benefits from an en-suite with a large walk-in shower decorated with eye-catching patterned blue tiles. A WC, sink, heated towel rail and quirky round window finish this room.

Second Floor

A door hides a bookshelf and selection of books below the staircase which takes you up to the second floor.

Bedroom Five:
Set under the eaves, this twin room has two single beds with feature headboards and a single bedside table and lamp between them. An open hanging rail and chest of drawers provide storage and there is a full-length mirror. A skylight window allows in light but it cannot be opened fully to ensure this room is safe for all guests.

Bedroom Six:
At the back of the house this king-size double room is a retreat from the buzz and noise of family gatherings. With a statement headboard and matching soft furnishings this is a comfortable room to relax in. An armchair gives a place to enjoy a book and there is a hanging rail and chest of drawers. Two bedside tables with lamps, a mirror and the skylight window bring light in.

Shower Room and WC:
As none of the second-floor bedrooms come with an en-suite, there is a useful shower room and separate WC. Decorated with colourful tiles the shower room has a step-in cubicle with rainfall head, WC and a sink unit. Next door is an equally well-decorated WC and sink.

Bedroom Seven:
The final king-size double room has an extra splash of colour with a feature khaki green wall. This delightful room has an armchair, hanging rail and chest of drawers to store your belongings. There is also a full-length mirror to check your outfit before heading down for dinner.Outside

The garden is a wonderful space with a large lawn for the children to play, two picnic benches for enjoying outdoor meals and a fire pit to roast marshmallows in the evenings. Why not visit the neighbouring café, The Old Shed, and treat yourself to a cake and hot drink to enjoy in your own space. A gravelled area creates a driveway to the rear of the cottage where there is parking space for 5 cars.

Wonderful stay with family and friends
Far exceeded all our expectations. Was not expecting the breakfast hamper to be so generous. All the mod cons made our stay wonderful. Everything is top quality. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Wonderful stay
What a fabulous house! A perfect place for our annual family get together. Ideal for the little ones too, with plenty of things to entertain them close by. The daily hampers were delicious and very fresh. Everything was superb, we all loved it! A minor thing - the first bedroom upstairs on the right had no mirror or stool by the dressing table, so nowhere to dry hair or put make up on. But that was the only thing that prevents me from saying 'perfect!'

Beautiful accommodation
Our stay at The Farmhouse was absolutely wonderful. We were a family of 10 who stayed for 3 nights. The accommodation was spacious, luxurious, clean and beautiful. The welcome pack was fabulous; orange juice, milk, bacon, sausages, fresh fruit, yoghurt and home made cake. The morning fresh baguettes, pan au chocolates and croissants were delicious. We would highly recommend The Farmhouse.

Amazing farmhouse, more than we could ever have imagined!
Everything about the farmhouse is just amazing, the interior is luxurious and spotless. It was perfect for my family of 11 including 3 very young children who loved the garden, ducks, goats and sheep and the dinosaur trail through the woods. Service was faultless with fresh pastries and baguettes delivered every morning, even on the day of leaving. Absolutely recommend this holiday home!

Unsurpassed excellence!
We are discerning and demanding travellers and were therefore absolutely delighted to discover this charming and supremely comfortable house for a celebratory weekend en famille. Everything was faultless and flawless and special mention should be drawn to the caring and considerate welcome we received from Jane (the owner) and her staff. Staying at this property is therapeutic in itself and provided a wonderful backdrop to our celebrations. A top class ‘Farmhouse’ stay in each and every respect.

Beautiful house near a lovely cotswold village
This property had it all! It was the best equipped house we’ve stayed at with such a large group and was in a great location. Everyday we received freshly baked pastries and bread, which was a nice touch, and the house came with everything required for a weekend of delicious breakfasts. The only tiny downside would be that in the height of summer, the camping/caravan park may be really busy which the nearby cafe could become a bit of an issue with noise/people.

Beautiful house, perfect for a long weekend with the family
Really beautiful house with absolutely everything we could've needed - the kitchen was very well stocked with pans, crockery and utensils, which was great as we cooked on two of the nights. And having two dishwashers made life a lot easier! The welcome hamper was lovely, particularly the fresh bread and pastries in the mornings. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were beautifully done out and there was plenty of space. The weather was amazing so we spent a lot of time outside, making use of the picnic benches and games provided, and also the tennis court on site. It was nice to stay in a place which was as lovely in real life as it looked in the photos! Would definitely recommend.

A perfect stay all round
We had a wonderful weekend stay here (7 adults, 2 teens and 3 kids). The place is absolutely incredible. Well furnished, really well equipped (it had a massive slow cooker as well as a toaster maker, wine fridge, etc etc) and was well stocked on arrival (sausages, bread, milk, fruit, bread etc). And every morning fresh pastries and bread delivered to our doorstep! Well situated (we visited rollright stones and crocodile world) and our kids loved the farm animals right outside and visited the goats every day. The teens had their own space in which to quietly retreat and the adults had a good chit chat. Overall it was perfect for what we wanted and we would for the first time ever seriously consider returning to the same place again!

Banbury Hill Farmhouse
We had a wonderful stay at Banbury Hill Farmhouse. The house is beautiful, clean, spacious and is in very good condition. It is in a lovely area and the farm animals on the site were a big draw for the younger members of our group whilst disc golf was a hit with the adults. However, what sets this property apart from others we've stayed at is the generous food provision. We were astounded by the quantity and quality of the food left for us - enough breakfast provisions to cater for a large group for a number of days along with homemade cakes, granola and shortbread along with a large platter of fruit. We had bread and croissants delivered daily and almost had to be rolled away at the end of our stay. A really lovely location for a break and thoughtful owners/hosts who had thought of everything we could need - we'd love to return.

Absolutely fantastic
An amazing farmhouse for our family reunion of 9 adults and 3 young children. We couldn't have wanted for more. All the bedrooms are really comfortable and have plenty of space and most have an ensuite bathroom. The whole house is tastefully decorated and furnished. To top it all the fridge was loaded with sausages, bacon, yoghurt, fresh fruit, butter, milk and homemade fruit compote. We also had a huge tray of eggs, homemade granola, a big homemade cake and every morning a hamper of croissants, pain au chocolat, fluffy pancakes and french bread was brought to us. Lots of games were available and the outdoor ones would have been great if we'd had better weather! Placed on a farm with goats, lambs, ducks, chickens, donkeys, there were plenty of walks and trails. A children's park nearby and a little shop just meant everything was provided. An excellent place to stay.

Absolutely amazing!!!
I booked this stay for a birthday, it was absolutely fantastic. Clean, comfy, beautiful location. The extra touches really made the stay. For example the pastries each morning. The homemade cake on our entry. Fresh juice and items in fridge for us. The location was brilliant. Animals to see all around. Nice little walks. The house itself was spotless!!! Rooms stunning we really could not of asked for more and will definitely be booking again. Can’t thank the hosts enough!!

Perfect for a family get-together
We had a wonderful weekend and loved the farmhouse. We found it very clean and comfortable with lots of space for children to play and adults to relax. We arrived to find a delicious cake, pastries, fruit, milk and other provisions had been left for us - much appreciated. Every morning fresh pastries were delivered and we loved having our breakfast at the big dining table overlooking the field with the duckpond and goats. The farm has The Old Shed cafe, woodland walks, animals to look at, a playground etc so plenty to do onsite as well. It was a lovely place to spend the weekend and make family memories.

Beautiful house in lovely location.
We were a group of friends who stayed in the farmhouse for a long weekend. The Farm house has been very well furnished with attention to detail and with a very well equipped kitchen. The house was spotlessly clean. On arrival is a lovely homemade cake and a fridge full of delicious food for breakfasts. Each morning a hamper of fresh bread and pastries is left on your doorstep. The staff on the site were very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent for exploring the Cotswolds and we enjoyed watching the goats and ducks on site. Charlbury is a charming village and we had a lovely supper at The Bull. I could highly recommend a stay here, you will not be disappointed.

Great location, beautiful countryside
The farmhouse was ideal for a family of 4 couples and 4 small children. It gave us a choice of bedrooms and living space. The surrounding facilities were excellent for touring caravans and motorhomes, The Old Shed Bar & Restaurant provided facilities to families from the site and the locality.

Wonderful Family weekend
We enjoyed a wonderful family reunion weekend. As a large group of adults the beautifully appointed bedrooms and bathrooms en suite were wonderful. The spacious lounge and huge dining room were fantastic as we got to enjoy many family meals together. The location was excellent for exploring the Cotswolds. We even managed a game of tennis.

This farm house is perfect
We used this for a base to see the 2024 British GP at Silverstone and it was perfect. The home easily accommodated our group of 11, and the home is perfectly appointed. Fresh bread and pastry are delivered daily, there is a cute cafe there, too. Really a very nice place to stay

Fantastic home for country side holiday
We enjoyed 4 fantastic nights staying at the Farmhouse (although wish we could’ve stayed far longer)! The home was immaculate and had everything you could’ve needed for a large group. The special touch of a freshly baked cake and homemade granola on arrival alongside the bacon, sausages, eggs and juice was amazing. The freshly pastries delivered to the door each morning really made our days. Highly recommend for your Cotswold stay, you won’t regret it.
