Cottages in Chilaw

"Waterland is a small resort of around 5 individual villas on the banks of a river. We stayed in Elephant villa which has a small, private pool and decking area. We loved the indoor/ outdoor bathroom with fish! The area is quiet and great for just sitting and watching the wildlife. Food is eaten in a small restaurant and although choice is limited, the quality was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. Slight downsides... The resort is really tucked away ,so be sure your taxi driver knows where he is going. Ours took a while to locate the hotel. We wished the staff would collect the plastic waste that washed up at the end of the decking, or provided waste sacks for us to do it. Its a shame having to overlook plastic and garbage as you gaze at the scenary. There isnt anywhere to walk to so just go and enjoy relaxing ."

"Outstanding stay for the price point. Super clean and comfortable room, sufficient breakfast, and lovely animals to welcome you. Staff arranged airport pickup and a driver for our trip to Sigiriya. Thank you! Didn’t get a chance to use the pool but did lounge in the common areas, which was great as the breeze was coming across the canal. This place is quaint and absolutely lovely. Only negative thing is that some light bulbs were burnt out in the common areas and hallway, making it a little difficult to read! Still a 5 star review. Easy to walk to the beach and main road for shopping and eating. "

"getting a bit dated staff are excellent always helpful, beds are hard needed another blanket to sleep on, tiles around the pool are very slippery/dangerous overall a nice enough place to stay."

"This place is really amazing. Location is close from airport (about 15 minutes), the rooms are clean and we had the best mattress for a good night rest. The restaurant is really good and have lots of variety but the things that makes it exceptional is the owner and all the staff who works there. We had so much help to plan our trip and everyone is so helpful and gentle. We recommend 200% and we will stay there again for sure. If we could give more than 5 starts we would do it. "
