I traveled to Chicago for a very difficult situation - to support my brother through a high risk heart surgery. I had my elderly parents and young children with me. After a very strenuous travel, we arrived at the unit, which was in a great location. The host was very nice throughout the booking process. However, the building was filthy. There was an inescapable marijuana smell. The unit itself was spacious but not clean. There was dust in every corner. One of the windows had water damage from an active leak (roof?). It was cold. The radiators were not working. And worst of all, the place was roach infested. I opened a kitchen cabinet to discover roaches crawling all over the dishes. It was terrible. There were roaches in the closets. The host agreed to a refund but only gave me back a partial refund. We had booked a week but stayed less than a few hours, and over $800 was kept for days that we didn’t even spend there. I’ve asked for all of my money back but haven’t received any further response. The whole stay (for those few hours) was traumatic, on top of the stress of dealing with my brother being in the hospital. I deserve a full refund. How can anyone stay in a roach infested apartment smelling of marijuana?
