Cabin 53 steps from Porter Beach on Lake Michigan: Family & Pet-Friendly

This cabin has the best view of Lake Michigan and the Chicago Skyline, inside and outside. This delightfully open cabin with two bedrooms and a perfect view of Porter Beach and Lake Michigan is nestled in the Indiana Dunes and just 53 steps away from magnificent Lake Michigan. The only thing between you and the lake is 53 stairs and a lovely sand beach. There is sleeping for 4 currently but the couch can be used to sleep 2 more people. Ample seating in the living area includes dining room chairs and living room sofa with spinning chairs. The dining room table can be expanded to meet 9 persons dining needs or the leaves can be easily hidden away for a more intimate dining experience. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with a full size refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, Kuerig cup coffee maker, and Central Air (Furnace/Air Conditioning). All linens (bath towels, hand towels, wash clothes and dish towels, bedding) are provided. There is a full wrap around deck with chairs and a Weber propane gas grill. The beach is a public beach, about a half mile from the main Dunes State Park Beach, we have beach toys for children of all ages, footballs, spike ball, soccer balls and other beach games. This is the top level of a 2 story cabin with 2 parking spaces, there are no people staying in the basement of the property, it is unfinished. Should you want to venture beyond the beach numerous nearby attractions include Chesterton European Market (Saturdays), hiking, biking, dining, breweries, shopping, museums, art galleries, an arboretum, golfing, waterpark, farmers markets, live theatre, movie theatres, skating, bowling and much more.

Winter weekend getaway
Great place to hang out inside, enjoy walking the beach and visiting Indiana Dunes, and enjoy some great local restaurants. Great to bring our dogs along Hosts very responsive to questions.

This was the perfect spot for our family to spend spring break. The proximity to the beach was perfect, and the view from the deck was breathtaking. The house itself was clean and had everything we needed. My kids are already asking when we can go back - and we certainly will!

This was our first stay somewhere other than a hotel. It was absolutely amazing! The house is so cute and it was very clean when we arrived, and the view is to die for! The owners provided so much information in a binder, we never had to wonder what to do or where to go. The most amazing thing was the owners, they were so easy to reach, and very friendly and helpful. I accidentally locked the keys in the house while there, and he was there to unlock the house for us again in 10 minutes. I also had an issue with VRBO, and the owner reached out to make sure I had everything I needed. Will definitely return to this property!

Family getaway
Needed a quick getaway with the family and this did not disappoint, the views are stunning and the proximity to the beach can’t be beat! Was honestly a little nervous to book based on the photos (seemed a little dated) but they don’t do the property justice. It is much better in person. Everything is neat and clean and I would definitely recommend!

The house was beautiful with awesome view. It was clean and well stocked. The beach was easily accessible but we couldn’t go because it was very cold and windy. Had a great stay with family. Owner was very helpful.

Everything was as advertised!!! Short walk to the beach, pet friendly, and clean! We had a blast, great places to eat and sight see! Close enough to Chicago to wear we drove over the Navy Pier, had Chicago style pizza and came back all in a few hours!! I highly recommend this place!

As soon as I walked in the door, I saw the wall of windows that look out to Lake Michigan. It was amazing. The house is lovely - clean and nicely decorated. The hosts are friendly and were readily accessible to answer questions. I highly recommend this property and will definitely go back another time.

We immediately fell in love with the property when we walking in and saw the panoramic view from the floor to ceiling windows! The weather wasn’t great for our trip, but thankfully the house was the perfect cozy escape from the rain. Our two dogs loved being close to the beach and the water. Great communication from the owner as well. Would definitely stay again (and hope for better weather) :)

Gorgeous views of Lake Michigan.
My husband and I spent 2 nights here in late February. It's a cozy space that worked perfectly for us. Nice and open with great views from both the family room and the deck. We could see both sunrise and sunset. Everything was as listed, well appointed kitchen, cozy bedding and great seating for lake viewing. Just down the stairs to the beach. We will be back again!
