If you're happy staying in a friendly pub, convenient for walking around Chester, then definitely consider the Golden Eagle.
The room itself was a good size, clean, with a decent shower room, with its own individual decor.
It's not a clinical hotel chain sort of place - it's what you'd expect from a pub - so expect to be able to hear the background noise of a bar if you're in your room at night. But it's a pub with character and we enjoyed a drink when we returned from eating out.
Breakfast was good - you have a choice of cooked or continental, and they like to know the night before so they can serve you it at the agreed time in the morning.
Really enjoyed our stay.
