Our home is fantastically situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac adjacent to the Chester Millennium Greenway (CMG). It is a pretty, semi-detached home with front & back gardens, a driveway for 2/3 cars plus an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging unit. The back garden is newly landscaped & backs onto woodland. One comfortable double bedroom, plus a sofa bed in the living room, enable the house to accommodate up to 4 guests. There is a good-sized kitchen, a foldaway dining area & a good bathroom
Greenway House is fantastically situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac adjacent to the Chester Millennium Greenway (CMG) – a cycle path & walkway that will take you into Chester easily within 15 minutes by bike and 40 minutes on foot. Alternatively, take the CMG in the opposite direction and you’ll be in Wales within 5 minutes!
If you prefer to drive, you’ll reach city centre car parks within 10 minutes, or you can take the bus from a choice of stops just a 5-minute walk from the house. Don’t fancy driving? Choose to walk in, bus back or call an Uber – we’ve tried lots of combinations! Or bring your own bicycle along with you.
Greenway is our UK house, and we are excited to share it with you when we are living part of the year in our Italian home. We hope you enjoy everything it has to offer as much as we do!
The property is a pretty, semi-detached house featuring front & back gardens, a driveway accommodating 2/3 cars plus an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging unit (billed separately by arrangement).
The back garden is beautifully landscaped with space to relax bistro style or enjoy a meal outside in a private space backing onto woodland.
One comfortable double bedroom, plus a sofa bed in the living room, enable the house to accommodate up to four guests. There is a good-sized kitchen with filtered cold water (delicious to drink straight from the tap) and a breakfast bar for two, foldaway dining space provided in the living room, and a small bathroom with excellent Mira shower. Please note that the second bedroom at the rear of the property contains our personal belongings, so please respect our privacy.
For convenience, both lamps in the bedroom have a USB included in the base.
The house is centrally heated with Hive control, and there’s also a groovy (well, we think so!) electric fire in the living room – do check out the fantastic colour combinations (for the full effect, go for 10/24 on fuel bed & flames!)
There is a travel cot and highchair provided for families, but please note that there are no cupboards with child locks, and that the garden does contain large areas of gravel, which may not be suitable for young children.
Self check-in/out via lock box.
Private, off-road parking for 2 to 3 cars
I can't be around myself, so I have a husband and wife team, Tom and Rachael who manage things locally.
Having bought and renovated the house in spring 2023, we just love exploring Chester as much as we know you will!
Top recommendations would be:
Look up! Almost every building inside the pedestrianised centre is an architectural marvel – just look up and enjoy the beauty of it all! From the Rows to the Eastgate Clock, the Cross to the Town Hall, and the Abbey School to the Cathedral.
We can see why a 2023 city street report surveying the prevalence of the ‘golden ratio’ (a phenomenon naturally occurring in nature that is pleasing to the human eye), voted Chester the prettiest in the whole wide world!
Huxleys Café by Eastgate Clock for a Baileys Hot Chocolate and homemade cake.
The Old Dee Bridge, the Groves, boat trips along the river (both short and long, including a return trip to Telford’s Ironbridge) combined with Hop On Hop Off bus tours, Grosvenor Park (look out for the old stone architecture and the miniature railway).
That’s without mentioning the Roman history of ‘Deva’ – the amphitheatre, the most intact Roman city walls of any English city (you can circle the whole city in around 2km), and the castle to name a few. Watch out for museum events featuring Deva’s Victrix 20th Legion, as well as the fabulous parades that take place throughout the year.
Also not to be missed are the amazing cathedral, museums, indoor market, Storyhouse theatre & Picture House cinema; plus the oldest horse racing track in the world!
We’ve picked up some maps for you – in a dispenser in the living room – so please help yourself to one. The drawer in the TV unit also contains various leaflets about the area, plus a few information books. Please use these for your research but be sure to leave them at the property for us and other guests to enjoy, too.
Outside the city centre, Greenway House is 10 minutes by car to the famous Chester Zoo – a great day out for adults & children alike, beautifully landscaped and animals of all shapes and sizes to keep you entertained - and under 20 minutes to the Aquarium, the Colisseum entertainment complex, and the shopping paradise that is Cheshire Oaks – a designer outlet with 140+ stores on one site.
And if you’re a young family on a tight budget, our house is just a 15-minute walk away from a fantastic free-to-visit Children’s Adventure Playground and City Farm, and 5 minutes from the local library.
After a day’s exploring, in addition to numerous restaurants and cafes, Chester’s Indoor Market offers virtually every kind of food you could want – plus live entertainment at selected times. There’s also live entertainment on offer at Alexanders, the Live Rooms, Storyhouse and more… plus fabulous buskers and street artists galore to add to the atmosphere of this wonderful city.
Alternatively, if you prefer to return to the peaceful cul-de-sac, then the local parade (just 5 minutes away), has everything you need to takeaway - Fish & chips, Chinese, burgers, pizzas, Indian & more! There’s also a handy café & bakery, supermarket, post office, chemist & more.
There’s so much to do both in and outside Chester, that you might consider extending your stay to take in some of the other amazing places nearby, such as:
The Clwydian Range, including Moel Famau and Loggerheads Country Park, Port Sunlight – the fascinating ‘village’ created by soap magnet, Lord Lever, and the Lady Lever Art Gallery
Welsh seaside resorts such as Prestatyn, Rhyll, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno (including the Great Orme funicular railway) & more are all within 20 to 50 minutes away by car
Even Snowdonia (Yr Wyffa) is easily reached along the North Wales Expressway within the hour.
Famous ‘Pop’ city, Liverpool, is also just a 40-minute train ride from Bache or Chester – so it’s easy to experience everything this city has to offer as well – ferry across the Mersey, Albert Dock, the Liver Building, the Cavern Club, Beatles magical mystery tours, Speke Hall & more…
In central Chester everything is within walking distance, however Chester has very good bus routes and taxi services if needed.
Rail and road travel is also easily accessible here, with great train services to Liverpool, Manchester & further afield.
If you are bringing your car there is easy access to main motorways and also good routes to North Wales, Liverpool & Manchester.
Between each booking, this home is professionally cleaned to the enhanced standards and the linen (sheets and towels etc) is professionally laundered.
Please note that the property has a Smart TV with app access. You will need to use your own logins and the TV does not have live TV. However, you can watch live tv through both the BBC and the ITV app for example.
Usual check-in time is strictly from 4pm and check-out time is by 10am. We're willing to be flexible with this by arrangement but this is dependent on other bookings and our cleaners schedule, so please let us have any requests in advance of your stay.
