Disliked: Cleanliness
Very basic, needs significant investment
We did not have a pleasant experience staying at Lion House Chester. The house reminded me of a hostel (minus the pricing!), and not a nice one at that - extremely basic, cheaply furnished and falling apart. We had a lot of issues with the property and haven't been able to agree a resolution with the property owner. Most of these issues are mentioned in reviews on other websites, which I unfortunately did not see before I booked, so evidently they do not take heed of customer feedback.Issues included - - a fire exit that could not be opened (back door)- very poor water pressure in shower (verging on unusable if you have long hair) - maybe use the kitchen sink to wash if you stay- damaged and dirty furniture- uncomfortable (obviously very old) mattresses and pillows- damaged flooring- rotting window frames- bathroom and kitchen both need replaced- TV did not work (apparently batteries were flat in the remote but there were no spares in the house, curiously another review also mentions this!) We went out immediately on arrival, stayed out until midnight and checked out at 9am after a poor night's sleep. Thank god we only stayed for one night! It's a bit of a walk outside the city centre, there is a bus stop right outside but unfortunately the bus didn't turn up.
