Welcome to Cozy Cove: a beautiful, pristine, secluded, waterfront on deep-water Tunk Lake! We are Spruce Properties Bar Harbor, also available to book directly at our website online, sprucepropertiesbarharbor.wordpress.com.
Cozy Cove is a clean and bright 4-bedroom lakefront camp just feet from the water on protected Tunk Lake. Of all the lakes in Maine, Tunk Lake is one of the most beautiful and most pristine. It is over 200 feet deep and the water quality is some of the best in the state. There is very little development around the lake, with most of the land under protection in Tunk Lake Preserve. Tunk is an excellent cold-water fishery and holds records for some of the largest lake trout caught.
Cozy Cove is uniquely situated at the desirable north end of the lake, less than ½ mile to the boat launch. The cabin faces southwest, with views of Catherine and Black Mountains. The beach is formed as part of a protected cove that also provides shelter and privacy from the larger part of the lake. The western exposure means long sunlit afternoons on the beach after a day spent hiking and exploring. Stay for a week and get 10% off!
The cabin was rebuilt in 2017 on the original location close to the water’s edge, but updated to a slightly larger and more accommodating space. The 1st floor offers 2 bedrooms, full bathroom, washer/dryer, spacious kitchen with granite counters and open living area with water views. The 2nd floor offers 2 more bedrooms, 1/2 bath, sitting/game room area with water views and a small private balcony. The level yard provides convenient parking, room for toys, and easy access to the waterfront with a sandy beach and dock.
Cozy Cove is located <2 miles down the road from the best and most scenic hiking trails in the area: Tunk Mtn and Catherine Mtn. Keep your eyes peeled for the ghost of Catherine, a local legend who appears on the road on stormy nights. Also recommended is a stop in Milbridge, a coastal town with great character and a pop-up Mexican restaurant. Cozy Cove is less than an hour from Acadia National Park, should you choose to venture farther. A perfect place to explore all that Downeast Maine has to offer!
If you are bringing your own boat, it is simple to put in at the boat launch up the street and motor to the camp. If you do not have a boat, please consider renting ours: a 14' deep-V with a 7.5 hp tiller and electric start. It's the perfect fishing boat and we offer it for only $300/stay. Please email after booking if you would like to rent the boat.
We conditionally allow well-behaved dogs to stay at the property. Please reach out first before booking if you have a pet. We are happy to host your dog, however guests with dogs MUST follow these rules:
1. Keep your pet OFF the furniture at all times.
2. Do NOT leave your dog alone in the house. Bring them with you or crate them.
3. Wet dogs stay outside.
4. Be respectful by keeping your dog quiet and cleaning up after them.
If you are not sure if you and/or your dog can follow these rules, please leave them at home. We charge a nightly fee per dog, and we reserve the right to withhold an additional cleaning fee if these rules are not followed.
PLEASE NOTE: We pull water from the lake! It is filtered, but NOT purified, so bring your own drinking water. We have a deeply-rooted community of low-key neighbors that we cherish and respect, so if you are looking for a place to party and be noisy this is not the venue for you. Please drive slowly (~10 mph) on the dirt road so it stays in good shape. There is room to park two cars next to the house. There is NO A/C. This property is not handicapped-accessible.
