We have been visiting the Great Smoky Mountains for years, always coming through Cherokee but never staying on this side. This hotel has been here the whole time, just watching us pass by. This time it was the most convenient for a quick, reasonably priced night and it was charming.
The lobby and lobby staff were great! The room itself was very comfortable, right in the center of the courtyard, poolside (although the pool was closed). There have obviously been recent renovations but some of the charm (that bathroom!!) was left.
There was a competition (children's dance or gymnastics?) in town and the hotel was full but we never heard a peep and slept very well.
Leaving in the morning, we were right at the park entrance to head back west and the elk were gathered at the side of the road as we passed by. An excellent short visit, worth a return stay.
