"We loved our stay here. We wanted something far enough away to feel like tourists, but close enough that we didn't need to travel all day. The location was amazing, right across from the water. The cabin was perfect and nicer than expected for a 2 star. Front desk people were so nice and welcoming and the kitchen has everything you could need. The bed, towels and linens were very nice and we enjoyed the 2 person tub. My skin felt so soft after a couple of soaks! My only complaint would be that...

"Nancy and Gregory are great hosts. They care about your experience and communicate wonderfully. The Hobbit House is a perfect launch pad from which to explore Gabriola. It's warm and comfy, with all the essential amenities. We stayed here last year, and had a great experience. This time was, if anything, better. Warm thanks, Nancy and Gregory!"

The lack of cell service and a strong internet connection was a problem for us. I appreciated the bbq, fire pit and comfort of the beds. I did really miss having a tub though. A hot tub would be a great addition. Pretty far from town but doable if you are there for peace and quiet and not concerned with proximity to amenities or work from home. "Spent our first night and husband and wife. Was nice to get away from the city without having to drive too much. No frills basic stay. No light pollution on the night of Perseids meteor shower made for some romantic star gazing. Mongolian yurts were interesting to see! Thanks for a nice stay!"

"I absolutely love this place. I'm from the island and did a little staycation, and I'm now forever renting from these wonderful people and staying in these cabins. A wonderful location right on the river and the coziest cabin with everything you need. The whole property is lovingly decorated with detail, and has a wonderful rustic vibe. The hosts are lovely, friendly and helpful, and let us check in early. I will be staying here again and again! I only wish I could bring my pup as she would also...

"These chalets are gorgeous! My teenage daughter picked this spot to celebrate her 17th birthday and I wish we stayed longer than a weekend. I highly recommend this location especially for families. They have a ton of activities on the beach and watercraft to entertain kids of all ages. Hope to return soon!"
