North Shore Retreat

Nestled in 15 acres of woods with 375 ft of private sandy beach on Lake Huron, just outside the sleep city of Cheboygan, this home offers something for all seasons.
In the summer enjoy swimming, kayaking, fire pit, hot tubing, and grilling. Bask in the sun on our lakeside deck. Hop on your bike and ride for miles with easy access to North Central State Trail and North Eastern State Trail. Enjoy boating and fishing excursion out of Cheboygan or Mackinaw City. If you enjoy golfing, try a round at The Cheboygan Golf & Country Club which is open to the public.

In the winter the nearby bike trails become snowmobile trails. Visit Mullet Lake and beyond. The area offers ice fishing and skiing at Nubs Nob. Make sure to visit Mackinaw Island at Christmas (voted top 10 Christmas towns in America by HGTV). Don’t forget to look up. The clear cold night skis are filled with dazzling starts and you might see the northern lights.

Fall offers beautiful fall colors and the opportunity to enjoy the area at a slower pace when tourism slows down. Excellent location to use as a home base for day trips to Upper Peninsula, Harbor Springs, and Petoskey. Enjoy an evening at the Odawa Casino in Mackinaw.

The property is teaming with wildlife all year long including deer, coyote, fox, beaver, skunks, porcupine, bald eagles, swans, and a variety of ducks. This is especially true in spring when migratory birds pass through. This is a birders paradise. Birds are plentiful on the property, near-by bike trails, and Cheboygan State Park.

This beautiful home has large pictures windows with water views from master, a newly remodeled kitchen, and great room. Home includes a separate TV room with a foosball table and reclining sofa as well as several areas for dining. One table top flips to become a poker table.

The view from the home and beach is simply spectacular in any season. You can also view lighthouses, Bois Blanc Island, and Mackinac Island. Beautiful sunrises will greet the early riser. You can enjoy watching passing freighters and pleasure boats until the lake freeze.

Picturesque setting!
We loved our stay here! Plenty of space for our family to spread out. The hot tub was great, especially while stargazing! Perfect central location for day trips to U.P. or other northern lower destinations.

You'll wish you lived here
Without hesitation I would recommend this place to stay if you're ever visiting in the Mackinaw/Cheboygan area. The house sits at the end of a long and private driveway with no neighbors in sight from anywhere around the house. The backyard is huge with a beautiful view over Lake Huron and has its own private beach. Watching the sunrise was a favorite for my kids to do. Driving 15 minutes one way will take you to a wonderful beach with more clean water. 15 minutes the other direction and you're in Mackinaw City. The home itself is amazing with plenty of fantastic views. I had read the previous visitors post and I'm happy to say I didn't have any of the same issues. If there was one thing, I would have to say I wish the bedroom windows included screens so we could open the windows to hear the gentle waves and let a breeze flow through. I did let the owners know. Again, this was my only real concern, otherwise 10/10 I would stay here again.

This is a beautiful and comfortable home in a lovely setting right on Lake Huron. Enjoy sun rises and wildlife, watch freighters go by. The house has absolutely everything you could need and the beds were very comfortable. Great communication, beautiful deck, very well maintained. We would gladly return and feel lucky to have found your place. Evie

Wished we could have stayed longer!
Love the location. It's situated at the dead end of a street. Very private and secluded. Located just 20 minutes from Mackinaw City. The views are amazing and and plenty of room to relax for our family. Spacious fully equipped kitchen. Our girls loved using the three kayaks. There was another kayak available that we didn't use. The hot tub was very relaxing and a great addition to our long walks after returning from Mackinac Island.

Huron House
Really enjoyed the property, and the property manager, Bill, was extremely helpful and kind. Cannot beat the location and the beauty of the lake right in the backyard. We appreciated the convenience of a grill and all the kitchen amenities. Enjoyed biking to town and having the garage to keep our bikes safe at night. Had a couple visitors with some service people, and then some folks selling books who got pretty pushy and showed up more than once, but other than that, it was an awesome stay.

Lake House Week - Wonderful time!
We had a wonderful time at this property. The lake view was amazing and the sand/shallow water was great for our little ones (kids 3-7). The loved playing in the water and digging in the sand. We loved watching the boats/ferries pass through. The space and the way the house is designed is great for large families. The hot tub/kayaks were a great plus too. Also, the updated stocked kitchen allowed us to cook at home easily. There was a crockpot, coffee pots, and even dishwasher soap/laundry soap. My only drawback with this property is that the exterior was literally covered in bugs. It looked like the house wasn’t power washed in years. We left our shoes outside one night and in the morning they were just covered. We also had to hose the patio down daily to use the furniture out there. There were 2 huge bee hives on the exterior of the house and so many spiders/webs. When we arrived, there were two wasps in the house. Would we stay here again? Yes but only if the exterior of the home was maintained a bit better.

Very Comfortable and Serene
We had a lovely time here for our September getaway. We arrived to a very clean, comfortable and beautiful home. The days began with coffee on the deck to watch a beautiful sunrise. Being so close to the waters edge to hear the waves roll in adds to the serenity here. We took in numerous sights all so accessible from here, including the glass bottom boat sunset cruise where we witnessed a spectacular sunset. Thanks Carol for the tip and the lumberjack coupon. The property manager was quick to get back with us when we had a question. We will definitely be back!!

Vacation home at the end of the road
Upon arriving very late at the property, we encountered problems with the HVAC system. The property management was contacted and responded quickly. The property is a quiet location with beachfront access on Lake Huron. We enjoyed the many windows and sitting areas from which to enjoy the fabulous views (the sunsets are phenomenal). We were not able to take advantage of the outdoor areas due to the swarming midges (an annual occurrence that occurs in early June). We would love to come back to the house in the Fall.

Great view! Very private.
We loved our stay at this home. The view is worth every penny of what we spent to stay here. The property is also very private. The neighbors are not very far away but there is a nice wooded buffer between the properties. The hot tub was a welcomed retreat after a long day of sight seeing. The location is perfect for the whole of the Mackinaw area. We hiked at Cheboygan State Park, shopped in Mackinaw City and St. Ignace, spent a day on the island, drove up to Sault St. Marie and the shipwreck museum in Whitefish Pointe. I loved the idea of pay it forward by leaving things for the next guest. We bought a puzzle for the owners game collection and what we had left of a bottle of bourbon. There are several other items other people have left as well. We did not need all of the space as there were only two of us but this is a great place for a family. Large table for dining and games, several bedrooms, lots of outdoor space for playing, dining, sunbathing, fire pit, beach front great for rock hunting. All in all great place to stay!

Nice Northern Getaway
House is very suitable for a getaway in Northern Michigan away from city living but within reach of modern amenities - grocery store, restaurants, entertainment, etc. House was clean, comfortable and warm (important for spring breakers when Northern Michigan weather can be quite unpredictable) even though fireplace was not working. House has an interesting layout but was very suitable for our little family. Communication with property manager was excellent. Lake was still somewhat frozen at end of March/Begining of April but view on the lake and wildlife was quite pleasant. Overall good experience.

Gorgeous property!
Couldn’t have a more idealist setting :-). Absolutely stunning. Phenomenal location for Mackinaw, Petoskey, Harbor City and the Tunnel of Trees. We didn’t go to Sleeping bear this trip, so can’t say to that, but I think it would be just as accessible. Hot tub was a real perk since the days in October were cold. All beds were very comfortable except the trundle. Would be fine for anyone under ten, lol, but we had an adult share that room the first night with an infant and adult, and only the infant and child slept well, and that was after combining the beds, hoping for some cush. It didn’t help much. Next time we stay here, and we certainly hope for a next time, we will try and bring a pillow top or two for those beds. So many wonderful things to say about the property, house, and owner communication. The main space is multi level, so would not be friendly for someone confined to a wheelchair, but if the person is ambulatory at all (like my mom is) and can do three or four steps, it is fine. Hope to stay sometime in August and go up to the “dark skies” observatory to watch the meteor shower. Too overcast this trip. Thanks so much for a great place to hold our multi-generational girls trip!

Better than expected! A beautiful, peaceful retreat!
Sometimes you see a VRBO posting and you worry that the reality might not be as good as the pictures- but in this case, the house was even MORE than we had hoped for. Beautiful furniture, comfortable beds, privacy and a view that cannot be beat. The house was spacious and had absolutely everything we could ask for including excellent cell service and wifi throughout. It's just a quick drive into town to get groceries, yet completely private and secluded. This is one of our best VRBO experiences and somewhere we hope to return in the future.

Work/Play Trip
This was a beautiful retreat on the shore of Lake Huron. It was very close to many activities. There was a hot tub on the deck which we used several times. It was a great location to relax and watch the wild life. It also provided us with the necessary internet so we were able to work during the day while we stayed there.
