Perfect holiday home in beautiful part of the world
We were a party of 5 staying at Shepherd's Lodge and we had a fantastic holiday. The Lodge was the perfect accommodation, and we really enjoyed coming home to it at the end of each day. It was comfortable, there was a lovely welcome pack which was much enjoyed, it was incredibly private, and we enjoyed being able to walk to the beach from the house. We can't really fault it. Would highly recommend as the perfect place to explore beautiful Northumberland.

A lovely welcome to a lovely holiday
My family had a wonderful holiday at Shepherd's Lodge. Sam did a wonderful job of welcoming us, and was always available for questions. The lodge was very clean and cosy and perfectly located for the best of the Northumberland coast. We hope very much that we will be able to return in the future!

We stayed in the lodge, very spacious and well laid out, 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.
Nice setting, 5 minutes from Seahouses, 25 minutes to Alnwick, we were there for a wedding at Newton hall, 10 minutes away, the property is modern and the kitchen is very well equipped, it really does have everything you could need, beautiful views from the pretty rear garden area, so at the table and gaze at the stars on a clear night, will definitely return!

Stunning cottage in wonderful location
Wow fantastic cottage best we have ever stayed in both home and abroad. Very dog friendly and owners very helpful they had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. Cake and wine were delicious what a lovely surprise. There was even tea coffee and milk in the fridge so we could get a cuppa as soon as we arrived. The area is surrounded by stunning beaches and even with the glorious weather we had it still didn't feel too crowded. Local pub the crashed arms in Beadnell is a must well worth a visit, food was delicious huge portions especially the fish and chips. As much as we would love to keep this cottage a secret for ourselves it is highly recommended, and we're hoping to return again soon.

A Perfect holiday retreat
Our arrival at the lodge was made all the more special with the provision of wine, home made cake and home made dog special treats for Bailey our Cockapoo. The lodge is obviously fairly new and is reflected in the standard and ambience of the interior. The bedrooms are large and cosy, the kitchen and utility room are well equipped and every facility is catered for including linen, towels beach towels, dog mattress and spare leads etc. Nothing has been missed out and due to the atrocious weather we had (beyond anyones control) it became a home from home for the 4 adults, 2 children and a dog for a few days. It is a pleasant walk to the village and the fantastic beach beyond and the village pub is a great dog friendly establishment with good beers and exceptional food. We had a great week and I would highly recommend it for anyone considering a stay. The owners obviously want to ensure clients have a great stay at the lodge and have done everything possible to make it so, if only they had control over the weather ?? Thanks and we hope to return........

A log cabin with the WOW factor
We stayed Monday to Friday. WOW what superb accommodation, spacious and warm with great views. Made more special with the welcoming bottle of wine, the delicious lemon cake and the home made dog biscuits. I would highly recommend this property and we look forward to returning in the near future. Thanks very much for making our stay memorable.

Outstanding
Loved everything about the place...spotless, gorgeous, cosy, welcoming, had everything we need. Plus stuff we didn’t need (a gorgeous cake waiting for us when we arrived!!! Would’ve been rude not to eat it!). Great location, can’t wait to come back.

Its the perfect place to unwind. Well presented and beautifully done. The little extras added a really nice touch, very thoughtful thank you. Will definitely be coming back, and will tell all our friends about it, but hopefully they will leave space for us to re-visit.

A really comfortable spacious lodge equipped with everything you need for a great break
We have been to Sams property's before but this time tried the lodge we were really surprised how spacious it was with 3 good sized bedrooms OpenPlan kitchen and lounge area, Having two bathrooms was very useful. We loved the landscaped little garden with fantastic views , even managed 2 barbecues in spite of the weather. All the little extras, cake wine milk etc were very welcome. There was even a goody pack for our little dog - very thoughtful. We have already booked to come back next year. Thank you Sam

Beautifully appointed well equipped new cabin.
Area around beadnell is beautiful and these cottages make a great base to explore. Only comment is that the beach access is a bit further than suggested unless we missed the easiest way.

Highest standard Cabin, everything you can possibily want for your holiday, can't praise it enough
The Cabin is situated about a 15 minute walk outside Beadnell which means it is quiet. You can sit in the sheltered garden after cooking on the BBQ and look over to the sea and enjoy your wine that Sam has left you and enjoy the cake that she left too. Everything you can possibly want for your holiday is here in the cabin. It is very dog friendly so Walter my dog had dog bowls, a bed, lead, and even a toy. Everywhere around here is dog friendly as the hotel owner told me that if people were not dog friendly they would go out of business! The nearest sizable shop is at Seahouses for the Co-op but it is good for a wander and fish and chips! Bamburgh is great, free parking and a long beach. There is lots to see in this area and you can travel about 30 minutes to Alnwick to see a great Castle and gardens and if you like books then a trip to the second biggest second hand book shop in Britain is a must visit that's in Alnwick too. Take the dog they are welcome with dog bowls and plenty of coffee for you too. Look out for the train going around over head in the second part of the shop! I honestly can't praise the Cabin enough, you can still smell the pine as it was only built last year and it is beautifully kept, you are provided with games (just in case it rains and it did for us but nothing to spoil the visit) a dvd player and even a few dvds to choose from. Lots of leaflets telling you about the local area and places to visit. If you haven't been to Northumberland before this is a good place to base yourself and the accommodation is first class. If you are staying with children I would say you would need to take the car down to the beach they would be too tired to walk back up the road if you have had a good few hours there but they would have loads of fun. As you can tell I had a fantastic time on my stay, all my family came over the time I stayed so it was very special, you don't need a lot when you have great company but the cabin and Northumberland certainly made it extra special. thanks to Sam and her family for giving us a great welcome with cake, wine and milk and a lovely cabin. If you unsure, book it, honestly its great.

Wonderful stay at the lodge, couldn't have asked for more. A true home from home. We had our 4 year old son and 9 week old daughter with us and it was perfect. Very relaxing helped by great weather. The lodge is beautifully decorated and fully jotted out so you can hit the ground running. Cheers Mark

Lovely countryside property near the sea
The log cabin was lovely light and airy with the smell of pine wood and high ceilings, clean, warm, well stocked with items, dogs are particularly well catered for. We spent most days sitting outside the cabin looking at the countryside, being visited by the cows in the next field. Beadnell has a fantastic long stretch of sandy beach and is within dog walking distance. There was a welcome pack to help on arrival so you could have a hot drink or wine, soap and toilet rolls too, no dishwasher tablets. The owner was warm and helpful and presented us with a family sized delicious chocolate cake and shortbread wow! There was the odd waft of sewage smell possibly from the septic tank and also dog feces in the flower border. It would be helpful to have fly spray as insects came in when the windows were opened. A lovely place with a secret garden if you wanted to sit and contemplate or read quietly. Well placed for visiting the beautiful coastline of Northumberland.

Beadnell is a jewel in the crown of Northumberland
Had a great stay at Samanthas cottage and both she (and her mum) made sure we had our requirements and were there to greet us in, which was beyond the call of duty!! A great, new log cabin in private grounds a stones throw away from Beadnell Bay and a perfect distance to all the other glorious places that Northumberland has to offer. We brought our Son, girlfriend and grandchild along and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay. You will not be disappointed with your accommodation, it was home from home for us and we got to do lots like a trip to the Farne Isles to see the magnificent Puffins and a look round Bamburgh Castle which our little grandson loved (especially the dungeons and suits of armour!) Thanks again to Sam and team for making our stay so comfortable. Oops forgot to mention the great wine bar/bistro in Beadnell that looks like a cafe but was a top class place for all you foodies!! Barry, Lynda, Josh, Shenae and little Elliot

Incredible Accommodation in a stunning setting complimented by truly lovely hospitality
Our experience with Sam at Mains Cottages has been brilliant from the word go... We were unfortunately unable to visit on the first dates we booked and Sam bent over backwards to help us rearrange at a time to suit us. On arrival we were greeted in person by Sam at the Shepherd's Lodge. The setting/views are gorgeous and the moment we walked into the Lodge itself we were blown away by the high ceiling and the beautiful wooden structure - it has a lovely feel. The fresh cake, biscuits, dog treats and wine were such a lovely touch as well. The living area has a great open plan feel about it and is extremely spacious and well laid out. The bedrooms / bathrooms are all well proportioned and all have a great and slightly different view from the windows. The lodge is beautifully furnished throughout with every last thing considered - the attention to detail was quite amazing. Nothing missed or forgotten, including in the kitchen where holiday properties are so often lacking!! Everything was very clean indeed with fresh bath and beach towels and even a doggy towel provided for our pup! (as well as dog bowls and treats!) We felt so welcome and looked after and just loved our time there - it would be perfect for a couple, group of friends or a family! We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked a stay for some relatives of ours later this year. Highly recommended and we will definitely be going back!! Activity highlights for us were BBQing in the garden, walking to Low Newton to the Ship Inn and eating at the Salt Water Café in Beandell.

lovely cottage in a beautiful setting
We had a lovely stay at the shepherds lodge. The area is stunningly beautiful and I loved the situation, close enough to local towns but so quiet and rural with a gorgeous sea view. Sam was so helpful and kindly greeted us with biscuits, cake, wine and doggy treats. The lodge itself is great and i loved the nautical theme. The only reason we haven't given 5 stars was that due to it being a wooden structure the walls are very thin so we wouldn't recommend taking a small baby!! Also the septic tank for all 3 properties is right outside the lodge and the smell is unpleasant at times. Neither of these issues are the fault of the owners and overall it was a really good holiday.
