** SHIP'S LIGHT IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING A MAJOR RENOVATION! Having stood the test of time for almost 200 years, the house now has a new foundation, upgraded systems and a modified floor plan. Interior painting is underway and floors are being laid; we expect to begin renting again in July 2025! The Lillian Spohn apartment is the most changed as a result of the renovation. While the prior apartment had a 1/2 bath inside and an outdoor shower, the renovated apartment has a full bath, a large bedroom, an open kitchen/dining room/living room and a large screened in porch. The apartment is fully airconditioned and heated via solar-powered heat pumps. No new photos yet--the ones you see in this listing are the OLD ONES. For the next few months you will have to take our word for it--the new apartment is going to look GREAT! We are preserving the charm of the antique home, while improving its layout and functionality. We look forward to hosting you again soon! **
Ship’s Light has looked down Cross Street to Chatham Village Center for almost 200 years. Built and occupied by some of Chatham’s most eminent residents since 1825, it was converted to four housekeeping apartments for summer visitors circa 1945. Lovingly restored by long-time current owners, this gracious antique home offers modern comfort and convenience with the character and charm of a bygone era.
The 'Lillian Spohn' apartment is on the 2nd floor and is newly-renovated in 2025. It has a new modern kitchen with full-sized appliances; an inside eating area that accommodates 2 - 4 people; a large screened in porch with a comfortable seating area and table and chairs for 4; a large living room with TV; a large bedroom with a comfortable queen-sized bed and stackable washer/dryer; and a full bath with tub/shower. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house. A side yard and gas grills are also available for renters.
Centrally located within a short walking distance of excellent Chatham dining, shopping, movies and band concerts, the house is three blocks from the town salt water beach on Oyster Pond, and one mile from Coast Guard Beach, a great stretch of Atlantic Ocean and dunes. Many individuals, couples and extended families consider Ship’s Light their vacation home. We invite you to join them in making your vacation something special.
The Lillian Spohn apartment at Ship’s Light is rented for 7-night minimum stays during the summer and a 2-night minimum during the shoulder and off-seasons. Other units with unique features are also available and the whole house can be rented as a 5 bedroom home for family gatherings.
