"From five life long friends who have an annual tradition to cook a Julia Childs menu every October. Mostly in Vermont. This year we took it to Medoc! Chateau Leboscq is a spectacularly renovated 1880 chateau surrounded by vineyards and a view of the Gironde. The owner, Lorene, was so helpful both before and during our stay, making wonderful recommendations to enhance our enjoyment of the area. Restaurants, markets, beaches, wineries. She knows this area! The renovation of the chateau is classical, designed and comfortable with many modern enhancements for listening to music, cooking and swimming. We loved the beautifully appointed kitchen, shopped at the Soulac and Saint Vivien markets, and visited some of the specialty shops referred by Lorene. She also recommended a fabulous chef who dazzled us with his amazing food one special evening. Walking into the village of Saint Christoly was so lovely. Watching the sunrise and sunset from the chateau’s beautiful windows and deck, surrounded by the singing birds, made it a magical, relaxing visit and enveloped us into the beauty of the Medoc. Outside the chateau, we walked the wild and desolate beaches, enjoyed the restaurants and cafes, and visited some famous wineries. All were an easy drive from the chateau. We finished the week so attached to the incredibly friendly people of Medoc, especially the wonderful Laury, who came each day with a big smile to help make our stay so enjoyable. Thank you, Lorene!!"
