Charming Farmhouse Cottage with Mountain Views
Our guest cottage is a quaint retreat set on a 14 acre farm with beautiful views from all sides. There is no shortage of things to do both on and off the farm. You can warm up by the fireplace indoors or out, picnic under a tree or take a dip in our salt water pool. Nearby attractions include Montpelier, Shenandoah National Park and several top rated wineries. We are conveniently located near the Market at Grelan and the town of Orange. Ready for adventure or just want to relax, we got you!
Our cottage is situated next to the pool across from the main house. The downstairs includes a cozy den area with a working fireplace, and table and chairs. We recently added wifi and a smart TV. There is also a kitchenette with a mini fridge and small toaster oven. Coffee and tea are included with an electric kettle and french press. There is no stove but lots of restaurants in nearby Orange and Gordonsville. Upstairs is a full bath with shower stall and bedroom with a full bed. Parking is available in front of the garage next to the cottage. The pool is available for your use May-September. The gazebo is available year around. With a larger table and chairs, it is a great area for outdoor dining and includes a fireplace. Dog friendly, but this is a working farm so for their safety leashes are recommended.

We really enjoyed the property and the fact that it was dog friendly. Located in the sweet spot of a rural setting, but close enough to great vineyards and restaurants.
Our 14-member family stayed on the entire property (farmhouse, cabin and cottage) and had a wonderful time. This cottage is small and cozy and has beautiful views of green pastures. 2 fox kits came out to frolic in front of the cottage each morning, their den must be nearby. This cabin is perfect for a lone traveler or a couple.

Wedding Weekend
The location was excellent but to be honest, the rustic cabin is in much need of paint and repair. When approaching the outside door and porch very dirty.
Would be the cutest and coziest place if painted, burnt out likes replaced, needs new shower stall and larger vanity, slip covers on old faded chairs and nee paint inside and out. Even though clean, the run down appearance make it feel not clean and cover up exposed wires and swiches. Could be the cutest place if some work was put in it.
We stayed for loved the farm and moutains but very run down.
Pretty and peaceful area of Virginia farm country. It was so nice to not hear any ambient noise at night. Cottage was as advertised - rustic, spotty wifi, minimally equipped kitchen area, small (very) shower. The cottage would be lovely with some cosmetic work like paint, some shelving in the kitchen etc.
Girlfriend and I decided to get out of Richmond at the last minute for a weekend away. This place was perfect. It was rainy and cool for most of the time, but the house was very warm and the fireplace helped (and provided great ambiance). We took a short drive (25ish min) to Charlottesville on Saturday and got back for a sunny evening walking around the property and hanging out with the cows—they were friendly! The kitchen is small (no stove or microwave, but there is a toaster oven) but it’s just fine for a weekend. You likely won’t have wifi at all, but that’s also great for the escape. The owners (and their spaniel) were very friendly. The accommodations are cozy, the bed is comfy, and there’s no light or noise pollution, unless you’re opposed to mooing. We’ll definitely be back.
The cottage is on beautiful immaculate well tended land. It abuts a farm with cows, an old barn and silo. I sat in the grass with my dog every afternoon and took in the unobstructed majestic beauty of the sunset over the blue ridge mountains. Smoked my cigar on the porch in the morning with my coffee. To say this property is relaxing is an understatement. Nothing dangerous for my dog to explore and poke around. I recommend bringing food you can put in a toaster oven, firewood, newspaper to start fire and a coffee maker. The cottage is rural, but has good bones, comfy couches, and a warm fireplace. Plenty of kindlin around. The house has a good strong heating system (takes time to rev up, so be patient) and the WiFi was strong throughout my entire 5 night stay. And amazing coffee at East Maui Cafe just a 7 minute drive away. I could go on. Suffice it to say, I will return next year for a solo retreat with my dog.
Great location in Orange County Va farm land very close to many attractions and with in reach to Charlottesville for a day trip via country road route 20 ( no traffic lights). The cottage is an outbuilding on the Bloomingdale Farm property that is surround by working farms. The view from the porch is peaceful and relaxing with the Blue Ridge off in the distance. The cottage is rustic with old wide plank pine floors that creek with every step. The first floor sitting room has a large working wood burning fire place and comfortable easy chairs. The walk up the narrow wood stair leads you up to the bedroom and the one bathroom for the cottage. The wood ceiling in the bedroom is sloped with exposed wood tie beams adding to the quaintness and that rustic character. The bathroom is small with a shower stall and single bowl vanity. Although the kitchen is limited there are numerous eateries within striking distance. Of course the famous Barboursville Vineyard and ruins are close by. If one prefers to just stay on the property there is an in-ground pool, gazebo and grill available for the guests use.
From the moment we got to the cottage, everything was easy and welcoming. The house was warm and cozy when we arrived, even thought it was 40°ish outside! A few things were even provided to make our pets comfortable too: a towel for muddy paws, a bag to clean up the yard, and a tray for a water/food bowl. There was a toaster oven and a fridge, but no microwave. With that said, the food options in Orange and/or Gordonsville (10-15min drive) were really good- we never needed to cook! Just a couple words of warning: this place is not a great option for senior dogs, the stairs inside are pretty slick, even our younger dogs had a few slips. Tall people who stand to pee may also want to skip this one, as the ceilings are very low right over the toilet and the shower is also pretty small. Other than those things, we had a great time and enjoyed the *total privacy* and much-needed opportunity to get away from the city and watch the sun rise over the Blue Ridge Mountains 😍
The house was charming and adorable. It was incredibly unique and had clearly been lovingly restored over the years. waking up to the sun cresting over the cow-covered hills was by far the best part. Some amenities didn't work as well as they could have (the door didn't stay well-closed unless locked and one of the window units stopped working on our last night). However, the location and other amenities made up for this
I stayed with my young son for his lacrosse tourney nearby. We were rained out the first day and spent a rainy Saturday playing board games, and reading books together. We took a walk around the property and had dinner in Orange each evening. My son loved the pool. Overall a very nice weekend of bonding.

Charming & Rustic
We had a lovely stay overall - the property manager was incredibly responsive (and very quick) when we realized we had never received arrival instructions. Our biggest complaint is that the cottage was filled with bugs when we arrived - we spent 15 mins killing bugs in order to feel comfortable in the space. Everything else matched the listing and we enjoyed the location.
