The reception area was nicely decorated for the holidays. It was warm and welcoming. My friend could sit there for a long time and read and relax. I found the lady at the reception desk to be helpful and courteous. The room was clean and about average. What we did not like was the tub/shower combo. Dangerous for seniors. There should be grab bars to prevent the chance of falling.

My wife and I stayed here when visiting Longwood Gardens. Though the room had some dated elements, it was really well maintained. The bed was comfortable, and we had an enjoyable stay. A short walk to three restaurants and a coffee shop. A short drive to Chaddsford Winery and Longwood gardens. A quiet and convenient hotel.

We stayed here when we visited Longwood Gardens for the Christmas lights. We stayed in one of the rooms with a fireplace. So cozy Bed was very comfortable. The sitting room was beautifully decorated for the holidays. We will definitely go back!

We were in a room with an adjoining door to the next room. The door was not at all soundproofed. The people in that room had a baby who cried a lot during the night and it was very loud. We didn't get much sleep.

The Brandywine River Hotel is a classic, smaller hotel that offers a personal feel. Check in was very easy. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice view from our second story window. A complimentary breakfast was served in a bright, cheerful room, and we enjoy sitting in their cozy lobby in front of the fireplace while we planned out our morning. I would absolutely stay here again.

While the hotel provided a code for entry, the room number was embedded in the code and not explicily stated. Poor communication for entry details is a problem that needs to be fixed. More importantly, there was no information on when breakfast started. There is no coffee in the rooms and none made in the pantry area. When breakfast is included it needs to be available for early risers. Inexcusable.

While the hotel is on busy Route 1, it was well set back from the road and very quiet. There are very good restaurants within walking distance right at the bottom of the hotel driveway.

If you are only looking for place to sleep with a continental breakfast before you depart, and a reasonable price, this is the place for you. Our room was satisfactory for what I needed. Our stay was on Thanksgiving evening and about a ten minute drive from where we were visiting that day, a time when hotels nearer to our destination were already full, so the location was not ideal but acceptable. The room had a door to the adjoining room which was locked, but sounds from that room were very audible. Fortunately our neighbors quit talking about the time we decided to sleep. The continental breakfast options were very basic- cereal, bagels, pastries, coffee, yogurt, and boiled eggs. Overall I thought what the hotel offered was reasonable for the price, but anyone expecting luxury from this site would be disappointed.
