NEW in 2024 - Pickle Ball Court!!!!
From its rooftop Victorian cupola perfect for star-gazing to its classically coffered ceilings and gleaming hardwood floors, this one-of-a-kind, historic grand manor warms your heart the minute you step onto the property and pass under the towering linden trees that define the expansive front yard.
Originally built in 1856 for Sea Captain Russell Marston, the 5,600 square foot property has been totally renovated and modernized in the past decade with tasteful décor and elegant finishes, while still maintaining the character of a grand estate. The result is the perfect balance of historic charm and modern amenities that will comfortably and memorably accommodate your group of up to 20.
The home's mid-Cape location is ideal, in the heart of the charming Centerville Historic District, and less than one mile from popular Craigville Beach (a wide sandy beach with a beautiful view of Nantucket Sound). And the owners supply a beach pass if you prefer to drive to area beaches! It's an easy walk by sidewalk to the water or just a quick two-minute drive. Walk just five minutes down Main Street to award-winning Four Seas Ice Cream, the perfect after dinner (or any time!) treat for your group. Also within walking distance is the 1856 Country Store (which still sells “penny candy" along with gifts and souvenirs), the library, and a wonderful playground.
Although your group may never want to leave the grounds, the home is convenient for guests planning to venture out to all areas of Cape Cod. It is 5 minutes to upscale shopping and dining options in nearby Osterville, 10 minutes to the countless array of options in downtown Hyannis and ferries to the Islands, and 15 minutes to trendy Mashpee Commons. You're also within 10 minutes of fabulous local markets, bakeries and coffee shops, as well as all the conveniences of home including Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. It's the best of all worlds!
The main level of this home offers common space that is remarkably open for a home of this vintage, including the big and bright, thoughtfully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances, and the impressively immense great room with plush seating and a large smart TV for movie nights. There's a full dining room plus an additional dining area just off the great room and kitchen that could easily host family game nights. In addition, are several additional living spaces that complete the expansive first floor and are perfect for your large group to all spread out. There is an elegant lounge perfect for reading by day or hosting cocktails by night, as well as another more contemporary family room, perfect for kids and teens with a large smart TV, an Xbox gaming system and a selection of board games. The main level also has a sun room with access out to the spacious grounds, a half bath and a mud room with two sets of washer/dryers.
The home has an array of sleeping options among the eight bedrooms on three levels. On the main level, there is a large bedroom with a King bed and ensuite bath with step-in shower. As you climb the grand winding staircase, the second level is home to a number of sleeping areas. First is a grand King suite, with a luxurious ensuite bath with soaking tub and large shower. The primary bath also has a second door for direct access from the hall so as not to bother the guests in the master suite. Next are two tastefully furnished bedrooms (one with a King bed and the other with a Queen bed) that have access to a shared hall bath with step-in shower. In a separate wing of the second floor is another large King suite that also has its own private exterior entrance. This suite is perfect for a family to set up camp – with a bedroom with a comfy King bed, kitchenette, full bath with step-in shower and an additional separate sleeping area with two twin beds. From this suite, you can also walk out to an expansive deck overlooking the pool and grounds. The third level offers three quaint bedrooms - one with a Queen bed, one with two twins, and one with four twins. There is also another smart TV and PlayStation gaming system on this level! In all, there are four full baths and one half bath in the house.
Your outdoor summer living experience here will be most memorable indeed! Imagine spending sunny days lounging by the oversized and secluded heated pool (gated of course!). This gorgeous area will become a favorite with its resort-style lounge seating, as well as a dining table for alfresco lunches. There is also a pool cabana with a fridge/freezer, outdoor rinse station and a handy half bath. Your group will love how many outdoor living options there are in this home! On the opposite side of the house - with access from the great room - is another outdoor entertaining area. It's a spacious stone courtyard patio with upscale lounge seating around a gas fire pit. This area is also home to the large gas grill and whole home generator. As part of the second level of the home, there are also two huge sundecks, each with lounge seating, including one with a table with umbrella for lunch or cocktails overlooking the pool. And coming in Spring of 2024 is a private pickleball court! Time to set up a tournament with the family! This home will be your group's own private resort on the Cape!
The house is situated on 1.37 acres of private, professionally landscaped park-like grounds, including plenty of level yard where kids can run and play safely. Enjoy family soccer games, corn hole tournaments or play basketball with the hoop in the driveway. Of course, the home has central air conditioning, high speed Wi-Fi, several smart TVs and a Sonos sound system.
