This beautiful little stone and chestnut cottage is stunningly located in the heart of the Garfagnana with the most wonderful views of open countryside and mountains. The cottage is situated in a very private position, providing romantic accommodation for a couple or small family.

The little house was constructed a few years ago in the traditional way, using local natural materials. Internally, the house, has beamed ceilings throughout, and has the benefit of an open fireplace.

The house is located near the historic village of Castiglione, in a raised area 1.5 kms from the village with views of the Garfagnana and the surrounding mountains including the famous "Uomo Morto"

Approached up a narrow country lane, the house has a private gated entrance, about 150,00 square meters of garden with BBQ, firepit and outdoor oven, hammock, private pool dimensions 6.50 x 3.50 m wide with surrounding paving.

Inside the cottage there is a kitchen, bathroom, utility room on the ground floor and double bedroom and bedroom with bunk bed on the first floor. There are also large porches on both sides of the house. The garden is very well cared for, the pool is new with lovely terracotta tiles. There are fantastic views of the famous mountains. It is only 2km to the centre of Castiglione, a famous medieval village, which has 3 restaurants and bars.

Casa Metato has a delightful atmosphere of peace and quality. This jewel of a retreat is an ideal spot for couples and small families looking for a totally peaceful holiday with amazing views, yet within easy reach of local tourist activities, restaurants, markets and shops.

Garfagnana is 'Hidden Tuscany' at its best. With its' stunning scenery it is the best area in Tuscany for walking and outdoor activities.

A perfect cottage in a stunning location.
We had a great stay at this little gem. We’ve never stayed in a cottage as beautiful, complete and comfortable as this one. And the large private swimming pool made it perfect.

Wonderful Property
We stayed here for one week , from September 9th-16th. When we arrived the owner greeted us, as we were slightly early. He was extremely helpful and the property/views were truly amazing. We could not fault our stay at this property, the weather also helped as it was sunny and warm everyday. Well worth a visit. Locally there are restaurants with amazing food, the owner has a list of recommendations. We particularly enjoyed the restaurant Il Pozzo in one of the local towns

Tuscan holiday
We spent one week in this lovely house and had a great time! The house itself is really cosy and has everything that you need. And the garden with the pool is just perfect for a relaxing holiday. The owner is very friendly and helpful, he answered all of our questions immediately. He also welcomed us very warmly together with bis family. The area around offers a lot to do, for example visiting one of the beautiful villages around, hiking or shopping. All in all we can highly recommend the house. It‘s the right place for a perfect holiday!

Great place with an amazing host
We had a great time with the Object. We were very warmly welcomed by the host and his family. There was great tiramisu, fruit, cold drinks and snacks to welcome us. This was followed by a brief info on all the important points around the house. The pizza oven, the pool and the fireplace together with the great and cozy outdoor area we liked very much. The property is a bit hidden so privacy is guaranteed, however the driveway is still a bit adventurous the first few times. Everything necessary can be found in the immediate vicinity, but a car is necessary. Many thanks to Gabriele, who was always helpful with questions, even via WhatsApp.

Fantastic vacation rental
The small house is in a secluded spot with fantastic views of Castiglione and the mountains, both from the terrace as well as the bedroom. The outdoor pool and jacuzzi were a really nice addition. The owners welcomed us with traditional food and wine, which was very unexpected but very welcome when we arrived in the late afternoon. They also provided us with a lot of recommendations regarding both restaurants and fun things to do in the area. We highly recommend the house and plan to be back.

Erholsamer Aufenthalt mit toller Aussicht
Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in diesem kleinen Ferienhaus sehr genossen. Die Lage ist ruhig und die Aussicht auf die umliegenden Berge war wirklich schön. Besonders der Pool hat uns gut gefallen, da man von dort aus direkt auf die Natur blicken kann. Das Haus ist kompakt, aber gut ausgestattet. Alles war sauber und ordentlich, und wir hatten alles, was wir für einen entspannten Urlaub brauchten. Die Einrichtung ist schlicht und funktional. Besonders gut fanden wir, dass die Gastgeber freundlich und hilfsbereit waren, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Insgesamt eine empfehlenswerte Unterkunft für alle, die nach Ruhe und einer schönen Landschaft suchen.

We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in dit knusse huisje met zijn tweeën. Goed geoutilleerd, prachtig uitzicht, heerlijk veel ruimte buiten zowel in als uit de zon. Gabriele is een geweldige gastheer. Tip: eten bij Ristorante Col d’Arciana.

Best holiday
We spent three weeks in this lovely house with our two kids (9 and 13 years old). Everything was just perfect - the house is hidden in the forest, so it's really private. The pool is awesome and the whirlpool, too. The house inside is small but really nice, cosy, clean and has everything you need. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The welcomed us warmly and prepared some Tuscan food on the patio for us. The cleaned the pool every few days when we were not there (they always told us before) and we got new towels and linen every week. There are nice restaurants nearby (you can reach them by car within 5-10 minutes). We also tried the pizza oven in the garden a few times, really special! We definitely recommend the holiday house!

Prachtig in alle opzichten !
Een prachtig verblijf ! Ontvangen door geweldige mensen die hun passie stoppen in hun verblijf ! Alles was goed, de plek, omgeving en alle faciliteiten waren geweldig. Een echt vakantie gevoel kreeg je in het huis wat heel schoon was en alles werkte en was aanwezig. Voor ons een tien !

Schönes kleines Haus mit sehr schöner Außenanlage
Wir hatten zwei sehr schöne Urlaubswochen im Juni, zu zweit mit unseren Hunden. Das Haus ist sehr gepflegt und wertig möbliert. Die Außenanlage mit Pool und Stühlen, Liegestühlen und liegen ist hochwertig und sehr gepflegt. Der Besitzer reinigt regelmäßig, die Bettwäsche wird nach einer Woche gewechselt, ohne dass man etwas tun muss. Das ist sehr guter Service. Reklamationen werden kurzfristig erledigt. Allerdings sind die angegebenen 80 m² keine Wohnfläche. Diese würden wir auf etwa 60 m² schätzen. Die Zimmer sind insgesamt sehr klein, in der Küche durch den großen Tisch auch wenig Platz. Dadurch fehlt es auch an bequemen Sitzmöbeln. Was man noch wissen muss, ist, dass das Grundstück für Hunde, die eventuell weglaufen, nicht gut geeignet ist. Außerdem führt direkt unterhalb des Hauses die Straße zum Pass entlang, die an Wochenenden sehr stark von Autos und vor allem Motorrädern frequentiert ist. Abends und Nacht ist es dann wieder sehr ruhig und angenehm.

Wirklich traumhaftes Häuschen in absoluter Alleinlage
Wir haben das Haus vor Ort exakt wie auf den Bildern gezeigt angetroffen - es ist sehr liebevoll restauriert und aufwendig ausgebaut. Uns hat insbesondere der wunderschöne Pool und die tolle Außenküche gefallen - die Pizza aus dem Holzofen war sensationell! Die Vermieter waren überaus freundlich und jederzeit per WhattsApp für Fragen für uns erreichbar. Insgesamt ein sehr schöner und erholsamer Aufenthalt.

Schöner Platz in den Bergen

Sehr schönes abgelegenes Häuschen
Sehr sehr netter Vermieter, der immer erreichbar war bei Fragen. Abgelegenes aber wunderschönes Grundstück und Haus, genau wie auf den Bildern. Das Haus ist klein aber für 4 Pers. gerade noch ausreichend (v.a. kleines Bad). Alles sauber und schön, gut gepflegt. Tolle Umgebung mit vielen Freizeitmöglichkeiten.

Prachtige afgelegen woning
We hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad in Casa Metato. Het huisje is precies groot genoeg voor gezin van 4, maar vooral buiten is het prachtig met zwembad en jacuzzi met uitzicht op de bergen. Dank Gabriele en familie voor de ontvangst en gastvrijheid!

Het huisje en voorzieningen zijn prima bij mooi weer.
Helaas hebben wij tijdens ons verblijf van 2 weken, maar 1 dag gehad zonder regen. Dan mis je wel een comfortabele zit binnen. Alles wordt uitstekend onderhouden ( zwembad, jacuzzi etc. ) regelmatig ap contact met eigenaar. Heel vriendelijke ontvangst met apperative + uitleg over gebruik.Veel info over de omgeving. Ze leefden ook echt mee met de voor hun ook slechte weersomstandigheden zij vonden het jammer maar kunnen er ook niets aan doen. Bij mooi warm weer uitstekend verblijf.

House with a beautiful view
Een mooi huisje, door de eigenaren zelf gebouwd, met een prachtig uitzicht over de Garfagnana. Van alle gemakken voorzien, mooi zwembad, helemaal privé. Ontvangen met prosecco en allemaal lekkere hapjes. Heel dichtbij een echt mooi, oud, authetiek dorpje met een local bar. Wunderbarer Aufenthalt
Wir waren Anfang Mai für eine Woche dort. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Das Feuer brannte im Ofen und auf dem Tisch war ein kleiner Imbiss bereitgestellt. Unsere Gastfamilie wies uns in alle notwendigen Informationen das Haus betreffen ein. Schön fanden wir, dass wir wirklich alles nutzen konnten, was das schöne Ferienhaus zu bieten hat. Manchmal hat man so den Eindruck, dass in den Ferienwohnungen/häusern nicht gewünscht wird, dass alles benutzt werden kann. Das war hier überhaupt nicht der Fall. Wir haben die Erholung, die das Haus bietet, auf jeden Fall genossen. Wichtig ist, wenn man dieses Ferienhaus bucht, dass man eine Fahrgelegenheit hat. Nur zu Fuß wäre mühselig. Die Gastfamilie war sehr, sehr freundlich. Wir haben über Whatsapp auch Infos zu Veranstaltungen bekommen. Was wir klasse fanden. Wirklich alles sehr unkompliziert.
